MSBY4 Karaoke Night

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Kiyoomi’s not sure how he got roped into going to a karaoke box, but here he is, listening to Bokuto belt out a rendition of “My Heart Will Go On” while Hinata and Atsumu reinact the infamous Titanic bow scene.

“I’m flyin’, Jack!” Atsumu wails, and Hinata laughs so hard that he actually falls backwards. What a couple of morons.

It is pretty funny, though.

Next up is Hinata, who performs his own version of “Never Gonna Give You Up.” Of course, Bokuto records it and Rick-rolls the entire MSBY Snapchat, which is met with a mixed bag of responses.

Adriah: Sounds great, Hinata!
Inunaki: Next time, invite me! I’ll show ya how it’s done.
Barnes: Oh, to be young again…
Meian: Have fun, fellas. Just don’t drink too much, we’ve got an early day tomorrow.

Then there’s Atsumu. No one is particularly sober at this point, so Kiyoomi doesn’t take much stock in the way Atsumu winks at him before he starts singing. Or the way his own heart skips a beat at that exact moment.

🎶 …Blame it all on my roots, I showed up in boots, and ruined yer black tie affair …🎶

Kiyoomi despises country music, but there’s something about the sultry timbre of Atsumu’s voice that has him completely mesmerized. Though he figures he can also blame that on the alcohol.

As Atsumu continues, his gaze steadies on Kiyoomi who begins to feel uncomfortable with the consistent eye contact. He tucks a rogue curl behind his own ear, keeping the hand there to block the view of his face. Maybe the others will be too drunk to notice his blush.

That’s when Kiyoomi takes a glance around the room and realizes that there are no others. At some point in the last 4 minutes, Bokuto and Hinata fled the karaoke box.

Kiyoomi looks back up at Atsumu, still completely dialed in on the raven. When he finishes singing the final chorus, he walks towards the couch and sits so close that his knee actually brushes against Kiyoomi’s. He leans closer, mere inches away from Kiyoomi’s face. “So whaddya think, Omi Omi?” He mutters, his hot breath lingering against Kiyoomi’s lips.

Kiyoomi doesn’t hesitate to close the gap, desperate to discover if those lips are as silky smooth as the voice behind them. A whimper escapes his throat as he finds his answer.

A synchronized ‘ping’ startles them apart as they take out their phones, both showing a notification from the MSBY Snapchat. It’s a video of Atsumu singing, zoomed in on his face, clearly serenading someone. Then the camera pans to Kiyoomi, who has the goofiest grin, apparently.

Bokuto: So then we hightailed it out of there.
Hinata: Yeah, I’m pretty sure they didn’t even notice us leave.

A mass of other messages ranging between sweet and crude came rushing through. Sure, it’s a little embarrassing, but Kiyoomi figures he can handle a little teasing if it leads to his new ‘friend’ visiting his ‘low places’ tonight.

Notes:

*For context, Atsumu sang ‘Friends in Low Places’ by the American country singer Garth Brooks*
