Collection of random Haikyuu stories I wrote 2 years ago ;)

Summary:

Basically a collection of random little stories, mostly involving some kind of illness, injury and for some reason I wrote a lot of about epilepsy and seizures. Sort of reader insert, not entirely sure who the character is I’m referring to in this but oh well.

Chapter Text

Bam. Suga caught her, his reflex was fast. She started to shake in his grip. He stared down at the girl worryingly. “Is it a seizure?“ “Someone time it.” He called as he rested her on the floor.

Her seizing got worse. Drool spilled down her lips, her eyes were open at an unnatural angle. Her arms were crashing into each other with each spasm, her legs wobbling the same way.

“What’s happening?” Hinata asked out, his voice was fearful and panicked.

Suga took off his jumper and rested it under her head. “She’s having a seizure, Hinata.” She looked so vulnerable, she looked terrified as well, she was still seizing badly.

“Give her some space!” Ukai called back, he had dealt with a few cases like this before. He knew it was stressful but they needed to keep a calm composure for her. Since Takeda was panicking already he’d have to take the lead.

The rest of the team moved back slightly. Daichi was timing it. Sugawara was still next to her, he was afraid to move, he looked at her with sadness and worry.

The compulsions started to slow down and slowly she was only shaking a little. She still wasn’t with it though.

Nobody dared move. All terrified of what was about to happen. It had only been a minute and 40 seconds but it had felt like forever.

Just as they thought the seizure had ended, the seizing got gradually worse again. Suga bit his lip in anticipation.

“Does she have epilepsy?” Ukai asked.

Tanaka nodded, “When we were first years, she had a seizure during sports day.”

“Is she okay?” Yachi asked worriedly, she looked just as terrified as you, her face had even paled.

“We’ll have to see.” Ukai said.

“She’s usually fine after them.” Noya said, trying to ease the first years worries. “As long as she doesn’t hit her head.”

Suga wiped the drool from her mouth before she choked herself. He rolled her slightly onto her side.

She blinked slightly, head hurting immensely.

“Minami!” Noya called.

“Shut it.” Ukai said firmly but quiet, “Let her come out of it first.”

The brunette lay on the floor, she was shaking but not like before, completely different shakes. She blinked again, obviously not working out quite what had happened yet. Her breathes were laboured and heavy. She heaved. She spat up the remainder of the drool and spit. The team cringed, it was gross but she couldn’t help it and they were relived she was still alive.

Ukai kneeled down next to her, “Do you know what just happened.” He looked a little worried but was glad it was over.

She blinked slowly, “I-I had a seizure.” Her speech was slightly slurred and slow but that was expected.

“It lasted just around 3 minutes.” Daichi piped up, making sure his voice was calm and not his usual deafening shout.

The girl hummed in acknowledged. She looked tired. She was tired. Her face was pale. Her hands shook with anxiety and bags were starting to form around her eyes.

“What’s your name?” Ukai asked, it seemed like a silly question but he needed to know quite how with it she was.

“Ishizuka Minami..” she murmured out, it seemed like it had taken a lot out of her.

“Do you know where you are?”

She nodded her head, but paused, not speaking for a second, “Gym, Karasuno.”

“Do you know what time it is?”

She shook her head, “.. sometime after four.”

Ukai smiled, “Seems your good kid. No head injury. How are you feeling?”

She sighed, “Tired.”

“Can you walk?”

She shrugged, her legs felt weak but so did her whole body. She felt lightheaded and as if her head wasn’t even attached to her body. She tried to stand, she could but she was wobbly, she wanted to walk but her legs wouldn’t move. She looked up at him with big desperate eyes.

Ukai frowned, worried, that wasn’t a good sign. He lead her to a bench and helped her sit down.
“If you need anything, ask.” She nodded back. “Take this time to rest.” He added.

She was exhausted, she sighed and rested her head against the wall, trying to calm herself. Seizures always took a lot out of her, she just wanted to sleep. She heard the collective counters of the team. She didn’t want to face them. It was embarrassing.

“Do you think she’s alright?” Ennoshita asked.. they were all a little shaken up after the incident. It all kicked off so fast.

They were still huddled round together, “She should be fine.” Sugawara said, “I hope.”
They all nodded. Tanaka spoke up, “She’s always bounced back from them before, why wouldn’t she now?”

“I would say we should continue practise but I think we should just call it a day at this point.” Daichi said, he too looked worried. The whole atmosphere was different now. Even the usual deadpanned Tsukishima seemed a bit on edge.

Takeda and Ukai were talking about what had just taken place, Takeda had already tried to call her parents but they hadn’t picked up which was a little concerning. They’d try again.

By this point Minami was almost asleep, her head hurt and she really just wanted to sleep through the pain. She was barely awake when Ukai sat down next to her.

The rest of the team had started to pack away. It was very awkward and nobody was quite sure of what to do. They were all trying to see what was happening without making it too obvious.

She groggily blinked, willing her eyes to open. She stared back at the older man, tiredness in her eyes.

“I can’t your reach your parents kid.” He started but she interrupted before he could speak anymore.

“They won’t be home.” The girl said, tiredly, “I’d usually get the bus.”

Ukai nodded his head, thinking of what to do, now was quite literally the worst time for her parents to be out, “Is there anyone else we can call?”

She sighed, sitting up slightly, “I’m not sure.”

“We need to make sure you get home safe.”

She nodded, trying not to make her dizziness any worse, “Uh, I can call my brother. He could probably pick me up after his shift ends.” She pulled her phone out of her pocket, tapping the password a little slower than usual. She found her brothers contact and pressed the dial button.

It buzzed for a bit before going to voicemail. “Hmm.” She groaned tiredly, “I’ll try again.”

Ukai gave Takeda a worried glance, begging her brother would cooperate and pick up.

After a few rings, the phone buzzed in response.

“Takuya-“

“Minami? What’s up?”

“Uh. Can you pick me up from school? I had a seizure again.” She fidgeted uncomfortably, hoping he’d say yes. She felt as if the whole team were staring at her, which was understandable but way to make someone self conscious.

“Shit. Are you okay?”

She hummed again, “I’m fine.”

“Alright. I’ll try and get out of work early. I’ll be there in 20? Is that okay?”

“Yeah. Thanks.”

“So, I take it he’s available?” Ukai said looking at the teen.

She nodded lightly, “He might be a bit late though, sorry if that causes any trouble.”

“No, no it’s fine.” He smiled, “We need to make sure you get home safe.”

The next 20 minutes were filled with an awkwardness she never wanted to experience again. Ukai had kicked out the rest of the team, which was good in one sense but utterly horrible in another. She wanted to sleep, every part of her body was begging her to but she couldn’t bring herself to. She felt her head lull a few times and tried to fight the growing tiredness.

Ukai and Takeda looked over at her worryingly. Before Ukai approached her again, “How often do you have seizures?”

She blinked up at him, rubbing her eyes, “Uhh, it varies. It used to be every six months but it’s gotten more frequent. Maybe every three? Or two?”

“Do you know when the last time you had one was?”

She thought back for a second, “Last month, I think. They’re not usually that bad.”

She felt a buzz in her pocket. Opening up her phone she saw a message from her brother, thank god, he was there to save her from the uncomfortable silence.

“I think my brothers here-“

A knock at the gym door.

Takuya helped the weak girl up, thanking the coach and teacher for looking after her. He led Minami out of the gym, practically dragging her tired body.

“You okay sis?” He looked down at the brunette, stroking her hair out of her face.

She nodded, “Tired.” She mumbled before resting her head against his shoulder.

“At least try and get to the car before falling asleep.” He rolled his eyes but was glad she was okay. He carried her into the car and buckled her in before driving back to the apartment.
