- Human appearances with colored hair, still small
- They are basically more fairies than trolls and often refer to themselves as such
- They are at peace with the Bergens because they share all of their talents/magic with them, so happiness is more achievable
- Each troll has some kind of power, even if it is an affinity for one of the elements
- Some have stronger or more powers than others, but everyone has at least a little power
- Branch is Druid/earth fairy-like/earth affinity (very talented with plants, growing things, bonding with animals, and can shapeshift into animals(no one knows he can do this until he reveals he was the cat))
- Earth fairies are very rare, which is why everyone wants to court Branch
- He helps Poppy teach classes about planting/growing things and helps Milton teach classes on how to take care/coexist with animals
- Twins-enchantment, as in they can make anything into legitimate clothes
- Smidge has invisibility and camouflage
- Doctors are healers (can heal with magic). They also depend on medicinal plants from Branch
- Biggie and Milton have an affinity for animals
- Guy Diamond has an affinity for fire
- DJ's affinity for air (she can hear melodies in the wind and turn them into songs)
- Creek has an affinity for spirits mostly focusing on mindfulness (yoga, meditation, etc) but also has a weird 6th sense about some things
- Poppy has a water affinity and a siren song
- She can use it to change weather patterns, call rain in a drought, etc
- Her siren song can also be used defensively to lure predators away from them/rally an army together
- As long as she uses her song with pure intentions, it won’t consume her, but if she uses it to lure a mate who is unwilling or convince someone to do something against their will, it will consume her, and she will become an evil siren luring people and creatures to their deaths
- When they were younger, Branch found a special flower that helps Poppy fight the urges to use her siren song in a negative way, so he weaves it into crowns for her.
- Eventually, she starts going with him to get more of the flowers so if something ever happens to him, she knows where they are, plus it’s another thing they can do to spend time together
- As more characters come into play, I will update this page with their affinities
- Branch grows things in his hair based on his moods/emotions (described at the beginning of each chapter)
- Instead of being worried about Bergens attacking, he is worried about the environment and conditions of the earth/plants
- Branch and Poppy have crushes on each other, but they are too shy to mention it and don’t want to ruin their friendship
- Branch is tired of the village flirting with him and trying to court him (both males and females) and wants to settle down with someone not after his power
- Sets a challenge: whoever can get the key to his house (with the bunker below it) from his cat will win him as their mate
- Branch is actually the cat, so he can test everyone and see who treats the cat well
- Obviously, he hopes the winner is Poppy but wants to make her earn it
- Plus, as the cat, he can spend time with her without feeling so shy because she doesn’t know it is him
- Poppy really wants to win it but is hesitant at first because she doesn’t think Branch would even consider her that way
- Also, she wants to win fair and square, not by capturing the cat like so many others do
- Keith shows promise of having an earth affinity, so Branch takes him under his wing
