Chapter Text
Marinette was not looking forward to her first day back at school. With her luck, Chloe would be in her class for the fourth year in a row. On the plus side, she was sent on her way with a full box of macarons. The box lasted five minutes after she left. She saw an old man in the street and went to help him, but she tripped on air. Thankfully someone else managed to get him out of the street, which put Marinette at ease. Although she still wished her macarons hadn’t been sacrificed.
Class wasn’t much better than the rest of her morning. Chloe was in fact there, so… hurray. And she’s gotten in Marinette's face over seats of all things because some model was coming to school now. On the plus side, there was a new girl in class, and she was the girl who saved that guy from the car. But then Ivan got mad at Kim and was sent to the principal's office. Of course they later find Ivan turned into a giant stone monster hell bent on destroying Kim. So, you know, ups and downs.
Later on in her room, Marinette is drawing up new designs in her room when she gets a text from her newest friend Alya asking her to record the whole Stoneheart thing for her blog. Apparently her older sister has her entire family on lockdown, and Alya is hardcore with her journalism. Marinette agreed. How bad could it be?
Ok it was very bad. She followed the stone guy all the way to the stadium while actual superheroes fought him. Although they seemed… clumsy. ‘Is this their first day or something?’ At one point during the fight she gets called on to turn on the nearby tap, which helps the heroes win the fight. Honestly, today couldn’t get any crazier.
Seeing the black cat looking hero leave using his stick thing, Marinette does something potentially stupid. She chases after him. She was really curious about his identity. And how far away could he be going?
Apparently the answer is incredibly far. The only reason Marinettes managed to keep up with him is because of her many years of chronic tardiness keeping her in shape. Eventually the chase leads her to the richer side of town and she sees the cat boy enter through a window of one of the nearby mansions.
Squinting up at it, Marinette realizes something. “This is Grabriel Agreste’s house. That cat guy went into Gabriel Agreste’s house. Which means that one of the resident superheroes is either Grabriel or… ADRIEN?” Something hits her in the head. “Ow! What the…” looking down at what hit her, it looked like a purple brooch with butterfly wings. Picking it up, she inspects it closely, looking around for where it might have come from. Not seeing anyone nearby, she puts it in her purse to investigate later.
Close by, a fashion designer is thrown into a blind rage by the betrayal of a purple kwami.
