Chapter 1: "I'll help you when you need it."

Chapter Text

Grian ran out of the shop, stolen cash in a bag on his back.

There was shouting behind him, so he pumped his legs harder, racing in between the people in the dark night time streets of hermit city.

Luckily he wore a mask when he robbed that convenience store.

He runs down an alley, vaulting himself over a dumpster, as the first drops of rain hit his face.

More shouting.

He could not get caught, all he had to do was, get away, then he could pay rent and keep a roof over his head, so he kept running.

A popped out of the other end off the alley into a street.

A looked behind him.

The store owner was still chasing him.

Grian ran into something, causing both him, and the other person to fall to the ground.

Grian landed on his bum with a surprised squawk.

“Hey are you okay?” the man asked, from where he fell to the ground in front of Grian.

“I-I’m fine.” Grian said.

“There you are.” someone said from behind Grian, and pulled him up by the straps of his bag.

“Hey, what’s going on?” the man Grian collided with asked, as he pulled himself off the ground, and grabbed a cane from next to him.

“This thief stole money from my store.” the store owner said, still holding Grian up by his bag.

The owner rips open the bag, “Ah ha!” he said.

It started to rain even more.

“I should call the police.” the owner said, harshly holding Grian’s bag.

Grian just wanted to let his wings out, and fly away, but his wings were pinned under his bag, and thin jacket.

Tears started to fall down Grian’s face.

He needs this money, to pay rent, and buy some food. He was so hungry all the time.

“Hey, If I give you all my cash, can you let him go?” the man Grian collided with asked the store owner.

“How much you got?” the store owner asked.

The man pulled out his wallet, and retrieved three hundred dollar bills, and a few twentys.

“Fine, but I never want to see him near my store again, and I’m taking the bag.” the store owner said as he ripped the bag off Grian’s shoulders, and snached the money from the man’s hand.

Grian fell to his hands and knees, as more rain came down.

The rain started to soak through to his wings, through his clothes.

Grain felt a sob build up in his chest.

More tears slid down his face as he cried.

“Hey, are you okay?” the man asked.

The adrenaline was leaving, making his body feel weak, and tired.

He collapsed on the sidewalk, because he could not  take it anymore.

Something caught Grian before his head could hit the pavement.

“Hey, are you okay?” the man asked.

“N-no.” Grian sobbed out.

“Are you hurt?” the man asked.

Grian shook his head.

Grain spoke as more rain poured down on the two men, “I can’t pay rent now.” He said, “my landlord said he will kick me out tomorrow morning if i can’t pay by then. I’m broke, and I can’t get a proper job”

“Oh,” the man said, “you can crash at my place until you can get a good job.”

“Why would you do that?” Grian asks.

“Bcuses, you look like you need it.” the man said, “now can I get your name?” the man asked, as he pulled Grian up to his feet.

“Grian.”

“My name is Scar.” the man said, “You're not allergic to cats?”

“No, I love them.” Grian said.

“Good, now let’s get your stuff, and move you in.”
