Sonic walked across the secluded jungle away from everyone else at the Hedgehog Village.
He found himself far away from the village. He sighed sadly. He picked a tree to sit on and scooted closer to it. Once settled he wrapped his arms around his knees as he placed his head on top of them.
The sounds of the night echoed across the jungle: An owl hooting, crickets chirping their songs to their life mates, the tree’s leaves blew across with the wind’s breath, and the howls from a log husk escaped from its corpse.
Sonic could listen to the music of nature all night, it eases the blues away from his heart. It works to a certain degree, however it can only offer some comfort.
‘But its not enough…’
He sniffled as his eyes started to water. Instead of wiping them away he let them fall. He felt his muzzle started to soak from the sorrow droplets.
Unware a pair of heavy footsteps was heading towards his direction. When the dark figure approached he turned towards the distressed hedgehog who was huddling in a corner of an old jungle tree. His vermilion eyes narrowed in curiosity and concern.
While the blue hedgehog was lost in his self-loathing the black/red hedgehog approached him.
“Sonic?”
The blue/peach hedgehog looked up to see a familiar hybrid staring at him with a frown that shows his concerned for the distressed hedgehog.
“Oh, h-hi Shadow.”
The blue/peach hedgehog turned away from the hybrid while wiping his tears away with his brown scarf. He felt his face flushed from embarrassment.
The black/red hedgehog took his seat next to the blue hedgehog.
“Rough day today?”
“Ha, lucky answer.”
Shadow nodded.
“Did something happen?”
Sonic gripped his forearms.
“Just an-another day at H-hedgehog Village.”
Shadow's features changed with more curiosity and confusion.
“What did they do this time?”
Sonic turned his gaze at the moonlight sky. He closed his chartreuse eyes as he tried to break away the moisture from escaping.
He tried to answer but the knot in his throat was preventing his vocal cords from working. He felt his breathing turned heavy as he tries to calm himself.
Sensing the struggle Shadow stood up from his seat and offered a hand. Sonic turned to his boyfriend and grabbed the offering hand as he pulled himself up from the ground.
“Hold on.”
“O-okay.”
With that said the two flashed into the light.

“Whoa!” Sonic gasped.
“You alright there darling?” Shadow snickered.
Sonic glared at his boyfriend which made the hybrid chuckle. It didn’t help much with the blushing growing even brighter. Shadow kissed his boyfriend’s cheek. Sonic turned away from Shadow's lips which once again made Shadow chuckle again. Sonic felt his heart sore that only he could witness the wonderful, rare, sight of his boyfriend.
Once Shadow calmed himself he took the lead into venturing them deeper into the cave.
“Come on, I want to show you something.”
“Where are we going? Where are you leading us?”
“It’s a surprise.”
The blue/peach hedgehog huffed in defeat. Knowing how many times she tried to pry out answers from his boyfriend, however, the hybrid wouldn’t budge no matter how many times. So he gave up trying.
“Alright, hope we don’t end up in traps or something.”
Shadow shook his head from his boyfriend ’s sarcasm.
“No traps,” he reassured. “but I do want to show you this.”

After a few minutes the hybrid stopped which made Sonic stop.
“We’re here.”
Sonic looked around in the darkness. He couldn’t see anything in this pitch of darkness unlike Shadow's enchanted sight.
“Don’t worry it will be lighted soon.”
“Huh?”
Then all of a sudden lights started to bloom into the darkness. Orange, pink, green, blue, red, white, and purple light were making their way into the darkened room. The walls glowed like the northern lights dancing in the night skies.
“Whoa…Shads what…”
“It’s the Neon Moonlights Flowers.” Shadow answered. “They bloom only when the night is lightless and the room is filled with darkness. Once completely in the dark the flowers bloom, lighting the cave with neon lights. Making the cave beautiful.”
Sonic witness the scene before him:
The walls were covered with neon lights, the gems that were imbedded soaked the light into their surface to reflect the colors in the ceilings, and the surfacing area was shining with different colors that makes the room look like a Disco Room.
“Wow, it's amazing.” Sonic’s eyes widen with wonder and adoration.
Shadow smiled as he admired his boyfriend getting lost into this magical world that only exist for those who believes.
“Hey,” he called out. “do you want to try some painting?”
Sonic looked at him with a curious frown.
“Painting?”
Shadow walked towards the flowers and shoved his fingers into the center until his ungloved hand we’re covered with pink liquid.
“It’s something I heard from the village, that they paint each other with these colors. Showing their true beauty.”
Sonic felt his heartbeat quicken. He never thought of doing body painting before. But first time for everything right.
“Would you like to try?”
Sonic gave him a generous smile.
“Alright, let’s try it.”

The two spent the entire evening as the two painted each other with different colors.
Sonic's body was colored with purple dots that were painted on his cheeks, the green paint was used as eye liners on each side of his eyes like Shadow’s highlights, a bright pink heart was painted on his chest, green and purple swirls were decorated on his arms and legs, and finally his blunt claws were painted green.
Shadow's was painted the same way like Sonic's; minus the highlight that were already glowing due to his Black Arms heritage along with his stripes, his signature symbol was painted with neon pink, the only time Shadow would wear pink, with white swirls surrounding it, red dots were painted on his cheeks, there was a blue heart painted on his chest same size as Sonic ’s, and his claws were painted orange.
“Wow,” the blue blur spoke softly. “you look very handsome.”
Shadow smirk from the comment. Sonic couldn’t help but rolled his eyes at his boyfriend.
“Well, I have to say you look very-” the hybrid hesitant to finish the rest until Sonic's hand stroke one of his quills to get his attention.
“It’s okay, I don’t care what you call me.” Sonic reassured him. “From you I will enjoy any compliments. When we’re not sparing that is.”
Shadow couldn’t help but chuckle as he placed his paw over Sonic's. The blue/peach hedgehog chuckled alongside him.
“Alright, beautiful.”
Sonic smiled gently as he let himself be pulled into a kiss.
“Hmmm…”
“Hmm…”
They pulled back.
“Hey, would you like to dance?”
“Dance?” the blue hedgehog looked away while rubbing his arms when he’s nervous about something new. “I don’t know how-”
Shadow grabbed his chin and gently turned his head towards him.
“It’s okay, it’s just us.”
Sonic felt his chaos soul sore with delight and happiness. He started to feel his cheeks warming up by Shadow's reassurance. He grabbed the hybrid’s paw, feeling the squishy pads which made Shadow laugh softly, and placed on his cheek as he started to nuzzle against Shadow’s paw.
Which made Shadow blush with green.
“Okay, I accept.”
The challenge glint shined through his green/yellow eyes which made Shadow smirk accepting the challenge that was presented to him. The hybrid grabbed a hold of his waist and pulled him close. Flushing his body against the blue blur’s.
The two started slow dancing around the cave floor. Shadow twirled around Sonic as Sonic twirled around Shadow while lightly bumping his hips against the hybrid’s. Shadow's eyes widened but quickly returned to his game face.
‘So that’s how you wanted, huh hedgehog?’
He twirled around his boyfriend and bumped his hip against Sonic's. Sonic halted but quickly recovered. His eyes returned with the ‘challenge accepted’ glint.
The two circled around each other’s bodies while letting out grunting, snuffling, and puffing noises at each other. They continued their little dance as the paint was rubbing off, smearing their bodies with mixed paint.
They took the time to caress each other’s bodies, filling their hands with remembrance of each other’s touch, smell, muscle, and the softness of Sonic's fine fur chest and Shadow’s chest fluff. They let out their own kind of pleasant moans and groans as their hands were dancing to each other’s bodies.
Shadow was caressing Sonic's chest; giving it much more attention than anywhere else. Sonic let out soft whimpers and moans as Shadow’s claws stroked his chest. He never understood why the hybrid loves to give his chest more attetion than any parts of his body; except his legs, but Shadow once said:
‘They carried more weight of the world and yet you saved so many lives. Your legs are truly gifted.’
Sonic smiled as he started to caress Shadow's chest along with his fluffy whitish, bluish, and pinkish smeared chest fur. He remembered when he told him once about:
‘Your chest is hard and strong despite you being edgy at times, and yet it carries a good heart and a strong will that holds a ‘promise’ you carried within you. You are the prove that you have a heart of gold.’
They continued their sacred dance of body worshiping and refreshing their senses of each other’s familiars.
For this night was truly a magical night for the two hedgehogs.
