Charles registered the sudden movement. “Edwin? You alright, mate?”
The mirror was unchanged, showing only Crystal sitting on the far end of an empty bed. It must have been his imagination. Or perhaps Death had been kind enough to allow Niko to check on them before moving on. It seemed unlikely, but he could take comfort in the idea. “I’m quite alright. Thank you, Charles.”
He picked up his head, studying Edwin’s face for a moment before relaxing, apparently satisfied with what he saw. He rested his head against Edwin’s shoulder. “So, what do you think is gonna happen next?” he asked, nodding to the screen.
Edwin rested his head on top of Charles’s and watched the Scooby Gang find their first clue. “I’m afraid it’s too early to tell. But I look forward to finding out with you.”
