Work Text:

Tommy groaned as he picked himself up off the ground, grabbing the bucket he had been carrying when he had slipped as he did so. He looked at the scattered food in the snow, then sighed. The imp turned to look at Techno as he heard the crunch of snow under his boots. “Sorry.” He said as he scuffed some snow over the food. The lingering crows would enjoy it, at least. “I’ll go get some more.”

Tommy made it about two steps before Techno stopped him with a hand on his shoulder. “You’re bleedin’” He pointed out

Tommy glanced down, then realized that he had torn open his right knee during the fall. He hadn’t even noticed that his pants had torn, or that blood was oozing down his leg. “It’s fine.” He tried. “I’ll just—“

Techno huffed, then directed Tommy to the house rather than allowing him to go back to the chore he had assigned to himself. Tommy tried to protest a little more and tried to escape Technos’ grasp, but the larger man was not having it. When they reached the small kitchen, Techno forced him to sit down on one of the kitchen chairs. “Stay.” He ordered, then went to grab his first aid kit from where he had left it.

It did not take him long to return. Without hesitation, he pushed up Tommy’s pant leg, then set to cleaning the wound. Techno’s gentleness surprised the imp, as well as his willingness to patch him up despite not wanting him there.

“Why?” Tommy asked before he could even stop himself.

“Heh?” Techno asked in return, looking up at him for a moment before returning his attention to the wound. Tommy didn’t even wince as he applied the antiseptic. It stung, but he’s had worse injuries.

“Why even bother?” Tommy asked. “I could have taken care of it myself.”

Techno shrugged. “Rather not have you bleedin’ everywhere.”

Tommy didn’t quite believe him as he watched him wrap the injury with bandages. “You like having me around, don’t you?” He asked, this odd hopeful flutter starting in his chest.

Techno huffed as he stood, then ruffled Tommy’s hair, gently shoving him to let him know he was done and he was free to go. “I just like havin’ someone else to do the chores.”

Tommy gave a protesting grumble and swatted at his hand, but got up anyway. “Whatever helps you sleep at night, big man.” Though he didn’t believe him one bit.

Though he had to admit, he appreciated having someone else to ensure his injuries were patched up properly.

Tommy couldn’t remember the last time someone had cared enough to help him.
