Work Text:
"Izuku, honey!" Inko called after her racing child. "Don't go too far!"
"I won't, Mama!" Izuku yelled back, pace not slowing.
He was so excited! Mama and Papa were bringing him to a Hero Musuem for his birthday! Izuku knew they were still worried because his Quirk hadn't come in yet, but the nice doctor with the big glasses and moustache told him it would show up soon, so Izuku didn't mind.
Skidding around a corner, Izuku collided with a pair of legs. "Oof!" Izuku fell backwards and blinked in surprise. He craned his head up to see who he had ran into. It wasn't a grown-up, but they were tall. They were wearing a mask like Mama when she was working in the hospital. Were they a nurse too? Their hair was a really pretty red-brown, and they had a fluffy purple and green coat.
Izuku scrambled to his feet, accidentally grabbing onto their ankle at one point in an effort to stand up. The person flinched, before picking him up and putting him back on his feet. "Oh, thank you!" Izuku chirped, before bowing like his Papa had shown him. "Sorry for running into you!"
"It is... alright. Remember to go slowly around corners next time." They told him, then slowly pet him on the head. They only really brushed over the tops of his curls, but Izuku could see their gloves and didn't mind. It was probably just a Quirk thing.
"My name's Izuku! What's your name?" Izuku asked, because it wasn't polite to have conversations with people and not know their name. He had to keep telling Kacchan that. They raised an eyebrow at him. "Don't you know you are not supposed to talk to strangers?" Izuku frowned. "If you tell me your name, then you stop being a stranger?"
"That's good reasoning, I suppose. You can call me Kai." "Nice to meet you, Kai-san!" Izuku grinned up at the man. "Why do you wear gloves and a mask? Is it part of your Quirk?"
Kai-san seemed to hesitate for a moment before answering. "I... do not like unclean things. I develop hives if something is dirty. That includes the air." Izuku nodded empathically. There was a girl in his class who was allergic to nuts. "Like an allergy?" He asked, wanting to confirm his theory.
"A little," Kai-san agreed. "It is caused by my Quirk. I can unmake and remake things, but it means I can feel all the germs and things everywhere."
That was such a cool Quirk! You could do so many things with that! You could help out in hospitals, help fix buildings that get destroyed in Villain attacks, do science stuff like make medicine!
Izuku said as much to Kai-san, who just laughed quietly. "Hm, you have a point, Izuku-kun. You are a smart child." Izuku beamed, but before he could say anything else:
"Izukuuuu! Where are you!?"
Izuku gasped. Oh no! He'd run off from Mama and Papa, and now they were looking for him! "I have to go now. Goodbye Kai-san!" Izuku yelled over his shoulder as he made his way back to his parents.
"Goodbye Izuku-kun. We will be seeing each other very soon..."
The misty purple person blinked slowly at Izuku, who just beamed back. "Why are you inside of our dumpster?" They asked slowly. "I'm looking for trinkets!" "Can... you look for trinkets in a more clean place?" "Probably!"
Izuku scrambled out of the dumpster, grabbing the person's wrist for support. Surprised that he could actually hold onto them and at the realisation that there was a body under there, Izuku peered up at the person as they put the rubbish bag into the dumpster. "My name's Izuku!" He decided to say, not wanting to be impolite. "Are you a boy or a girl or something else?" Mama said it was important to ask.
The misty purple person's eyes -- were those yellow slits eyes? -- narrowed, and Izuku was worried he'd messed up until they responded: "My name is Kurogiri, and I am a boy. Now, would you like to come inside for a drink? I'm sure trinket hunting takes up a lot of energy."
"Okay!" Izuku agreed happily. "Can you tell me how your Quirk works? Cause you look really cool!" Kurogiri-san opened the door and stepped back to allow Izuku inside first. "Thank you. My Quirk is called Warp-Gate, and..."
The door shut behind them.
Izuku knocked on the door with his left hand, Himiko-chan's hand in his right. "It's going to be okay," he told her truthfully. "My Mama and Papa will help!"
She blinked tearfully at him, but before she could say anything, the door was opening.
Hisashi blinked, then sighed as he saw who was there. "Izuku, do we need to upgrade the window locks?" He asked rhetorically. They both knew that the answer was yes. "This is the third time this month!" "I know, but Himiko-chan needs help!" Izuku explained earnestly, showing his father his and his new friend's joined hands.
With an exasperated sigh, Hisashi stepped back out of the doorway to let them inside. "There are guest slippers you can use, Himiko-chan. Now, what's the issue?" The duo toddled inside and kicked off their shoes, neither wanting to stop holding hands. "Himiko-chan's Quirk is making her sick, Papa!" Izuku said, stepping into his All Might themed slippers. Himiko-chan looked between Izuku and Hisashi nervously before whispering: "I need blood."
Hisashi was quiet for a moment.
"I think this is your mother's domain, Izuku. I'll give her a call now."
Izuku bounced on the balls of his feet in delight. Midnight-san had just signed his notebook! Oh, he was going to explode!!
"This is some good work, kiddo! You've got a good head on you. You like Quirk Analysis?" Izuku nodded his head eagerly. "Yes! Ever since I was little."
"Hmmmm." Midnight tapped her chin for a moment. "Tell you what; show me where your parents are, sweetie, I have an idea."
Izuku grinned as he faced off against his opponent.
Bakugou Katsuki.
Kacchan grinned right back, just as feral.
It had been fun to face off against a Quirk like his own with Shinsou and a power house like Todoroki, but it had all been over for them once he touched them.
Kacchan though?
Izuku smirked as he tuned out Present Mic's overly enthusiastic announcing.
Kacchan had been one of the first to feel the effects of his Quirk all those years ago. (Although not the first; his heart still warmed when he recalled Kai and his niece Eri)
Kacchan wasn't as suspectible to his suggestions through sheer spite alone. And wasn't that a funny thought: Izuku was the only person who could calm down Katsuki, and that wasn't even the full extent of his sway over him. He'd been able to get Kacchan to follow orders more when they were younger, but the explosive teen had always been determined to be the first person to break free. (His parents didn't count: they were never affected)
Once Nemuri gave the go-ahead (and Izuku was still shocked that he got the honor to call the Pro-Hero by her first name, nevermind get recommended to UA by her!) Katsuki dove for Izuku.
Izuku ducked under his right-hook, braced himself, then grabbed Katsuki's arm. "THE POWER OF LOVE, BITCH!" He declared, before judo-flipping Kacchan over his shoulder.
The air was silent and still with disbelief for a moment.
Katsuki's ankle had crossed the line.
Then the stadium erupted with noise.
Izuku could spot his family cheering in the stands. Inko, Hisashi, Himiko, Tomura, Kurogiri, Jin, Magne, all of them. He beamed back. He wouldn't have been able to get this far without their combined tenacity, and he wasn't planning on letting them forget it.
Izuku hoisted Katsuki up from the ground. "Never again mock the power of friendship," he told his friend solemnly before darting away from the light-hearted punch aimed at his shoulder.
Katsuki snorted. "Yeah yeah, Twilight Sparkle. You'd think you'd at least let me land one fuckin' hit."
Izuku smirked. "Nah." Before yelping as Katsuki dragged him into a headlock.
