Chapter Text
The Moon Revolution, it was finally over.
Titan returned to Saturn with the other moons, it was a quiet ride back, no one said a word, nor attempted to say anything. Titan led them back despite the arguments over Titan leading them again, he didn't say anything, which the others gave up on the argument and returned the silence. He ignored the quiet treatment, he understood why they were all silent.
When they returned, Saturn was anything but pleased when he heard of what they were doing, his worries all being on Titan and none of the other moons. The others were looking at him, that same look of anger and jealousy that their planet was only focused on him. That worry soon became anger, but Saturn went on rambling and not paying attention.
Throughout the worried cries of Saturn, Titan ignored them all, going out to get back into his orbit and stay there. Saturn never noticed he left, but the other moons were surprised that Titan ignored the gas giant completely like he didn't exist. From that, the moons let go of their anger, getting back into their own orbits to leave Saturn to do his own thing until he realizes no one is listening.
Enceladus had come over to him, asking if he was okay, and Titan just replied with a simple nod, not turning around to look at the other moon as he watched the asteroids in the Kuiper belt float around. Everything except looking at Saturn or the moons. Enceladus sighed in anger at being ignored and left back to his orbit, he only wanted to check on him but yet Titan says nothing.
Even more reason for Titan to hate himself. Everything he does is just rude or cruel, being a bully to the others just like the Earth was to him. He really did switch the roles on them, and now everything is his fault and—
Get a hold of yourself, Titan.
He inhaled, relaxing himself and deciding to go over and talk with Saturn, hopefully he is done talking to himself about their actions.
Saturn wasn't doing anything, watching his moons orbit around him and keeping an eye on them, nonetheless he stayed in his own solar orbit. Titan felt hesitant to go and talk to him, knowing he might get rejected easily — it's still too soon after the Moon Revolution, it was only a few days ago, and Saturn can be strict with Titan even if he favors him the most.
The favoritism. Titan wants to rip it off of him and give it to someone else. He's hates being the favorite, hates how everyone hates him because of it. How he's supposed to be the one to talk to Saturn, how he's the one who stops Saturn from acting weird, or stops the moons from leaving, or-
Snap out of it, Titan.
"Saturn," he finally spoke, watching as the gas giant turned around and smiled down at his favorite moon, greeting him with a high pitched excited voice. Titan wanted to slap the happiness off of his face- "Can I... Can I visit Uranus? I need to speak to one of his moons."
Saturn blinked and tilted himself, "Well, of course you can. But I'm not sending you alone, someone else needs to go with you, okay?"
Well, that defeats the purpose of speaking alone to a friend. "Okay... That's understandable, I guess. Who is going with me, though?"
"Enceladus," Saturn said, correctly, and the moon in question looked as if he was about to explode from shock at his name being called out in correct pronunciation.
Titan also looked surprised, "You—"
Saturn smiled endearingly, "Jupiter helped me with your names. After learning about the whole Moon Revolution and its goals, I asked Jupiter for help on all of your names. I wasn't mispronouncing them on purpose, you know. I had a hard time pronouncing them correctly so I just decided to go with something that sounded similar to your names. I never... realized that it would hurt you all. I'm sorry."
All of the moons were silent, staring in shock at their planet as Enceladus looked on the verge of tears of joy and confusion. Mimas came over and immediately asked Saturn to say his name, to which he did, and it was also pronounced correctly. The moons were overjoyed, happy laughter and sounds of the moons were all around the gas giant, who smiled so happily Titan thought it might've been fake. But this wasn't fake, this was real.
Dione came over next to ask, but Titan interrupted, "Before any other moons ask for their names to be said, can me and Enceladus go? I really need-"
"Oh, yes, yes. Go on now, Titan. Be back quickly, okay? Don't be gone for too long," Saturn gave them permission to leave, and so they did, as the other moons bonded with him.
Titan watched them be happy with Saturn, a smile on his face seeing the planet bond with its moons. Enceladus nudged him with a smirk, "What's with the giddy face, Titan?"
"Just... happy."
"Happy that this is what was supposed to come out of the revolution? Planets and moons bonding like there isn't a difference between the two of them?" Enceladus said.
"Yes," Titan answered. "This is what was supposed to be the end result of it. I'm happy we didn't need to destroy the Earth for this."
The two turned around to head to Uranus, "That was mostly Europa and Ganymede, not you. They had dictated your protest into their own hands, and manipulated you, Titan."
Titan looked away, "I wonder how Jupiter is handling them... Knowing how much he cares for the Earth and all. If he even knows about the whole destroying the Earth thing. Much as I don't really like them, I hope they're okay."
"Pfft, they'll be fine, Titan. I doubt Jupiter would actually harm them because of all this. The Earth wasn't hurt, sure they planned on it, but he wasn't in the end, and that's what matters. ...By the way, why do you want to visit Uranus?"
"I guess you're right... And I want to visit a moon of his, we uh... bonded somewhat and I. I just need someone to talk to right now, and I don't feel comfortable going to Jupiter to talk to Io or Callisto, not when Ganymede's there."
"That makes sense," Enceladus nodded, "And who's this special moon you... bonded with?"
Titan grimaced, "It's not like that, Enceladus. She's a friend I made during the revolution and I helped her and Uranus' moons get away because Uranus joked about turning them into rings. She... helped me realize that it was possible to solve things by talking, even though I disregarded that choice."
The smaller moon grinned, "Sounds like-"
"Enceladus."
"Sorry, sorry!"
"Titan?" Uranus said, startling the moons when they didn't realize they were at Uranus already. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with Saturn? Why did he let you go?"
Enceladus jumped in, "Saturn let him go because he needs to talk with someone, I'm here to keep an eye on him so he doesn't do anything. Don't worry, nothing will happen."
Uranus watched the two carefully, but pulled away and smiled, "Okay then. Who is it that you need?"
"Titania, I was hoping I could talk to her privately—" Titan started.
"Sorry, mate, none of my moons are with me. They haven't returned home yet," he said.
"Wait what?" Titan asked, looking around and- none of his moons were anywhere near them, "Why haven't they returned? They should've returned by now, it's only been a few days. Where—"
"I don't know, but if you find them, please tell them to come home. I'm worried about them and I don't really want to go into the Kuiper belt again to search for them. You moons are smaller and might have a better chance at finding them, I'll just get stuck in there..."
"Right... Right. But didn't you apolo— wait, I was with them then..." Titan went quiet, trying to think of where they might be, "I might know where they are, but I'm not sure if they'll be there."
"Anything helps," Uranus told them, "If they'll just come back I can apologize properly and hopefully not scare them off again like last time."
"Well you are... quite big, and you did joke about making them into rings..."
Uranus opened his mouth to ramble, but suddenly closed it as he looked at Titan, "Isn't... But Saturn is much larger than me, why do you think I'm big?"
Titan fumbled, "Uh... Well, Uranus... Saturn's rings keep us away from him, we can't get too close because of his gravity, and also... I orbit far away from him, so I don't get close to see his true size, so to me he looks smaller than how he actually is. With you, we can get close since your rings aren't as big, and we don't orbit you, so... yeah. That's why I got scared when you and Neptune approached me."
"Oh," Uranus froze, "I'm sorry for getting so close to you that time. I never really... thought about that. Most of my moons are close to me."
Titan sighed, "Its fine, Uranus. We'll uh... We'll leave now, and probably find your moons."
"Alright, bye you two! Good luck..."
The two moons left the ice giant, Titan heading towards the Kuiper belt while Enceladus thought they'd go back to Saturn. He rushed back over to the moon, stopping him in his path.
"Enceladus? What're you doing?" Titan asked, trying to maneuver around the smaller moon, only for him to continue blocking his path.
"I don't think it's a good idea to go searching for you moon friends without telling Saturn. I was sent to keep an eye on you, as much as I trust you to do the right thing, I will not betray Saturn's orders, and if you go into that belt, I will go and tell Saturn about it," he argued, "You can ask him if you could go looking for them, not just wander off without permission."
Titan went silent and sighed, looking defeated, "You're right... Let's go back to Saturn then."
Enceladus smiled, leading the way back home.
On the way, Titan stared at the bottom of the solar system, the black void of emptiness below them, wondering what Earth's moon had witnessed down there when Io and Callisto chased after him.
Earth's Moon... Luna was his name right? Oh how he had betrayed so many moons trust. Luna's most of all, seeing the fear in his eyes when Ganymede ordered the attack on the Earth, Titan couldn't sit there and do nothing, rushing in front of Earth to stop the asteroids.
All for Luna. Because Luna tried so hard to stop the entire revolution. He tried so hard. Yet Titan never listened, not when Ganymede was a voice stuck in his head telling him everything he ne- ...wanted to hear back then.
"Are you're telling me there's no ego involved with you, Titan? 'Saturn's favorite moon?'"
"From the moment we meet I could tell that you wanted more, that you wanted revenge. Tell me I'm wrong!"
He wonders if the Sun's warmth could still be felt from down in the void of the solar system. He misses that warmth from the Asteroid belt.
Like the warmth he felt in his core from the way Luna would smile at him. The warmth-
"Pst!" A sound interrupted Titan's thoughts, he looked around, finding no one was near. He looked at Enceladus, who was still in front of him, leading them back to Saturn. It couldn't have been him. "Pssst! Titan!"
Titan followed the sound over towards the Kuiper belt, there was someone in it calling for him. Titan looked at Enceladus, his focus was going home, and Titan quickly slipped out and away from him, heading to the Kuiper belt.
The one who called for him came into clearer view, and Titan was shocked, "Titania? What're you doing here? Why are you not with Uranus? Why are you in the Kuiper—"
"Shh!" She shushed him, "There's... I didn't expect to see you, but we need your help. I've been meaning to come get you but we didn't know how without approaching Saturn, but thank the Sun you were here."
"What's going on? What do you need help with? Did something happen?" Titan asked.
"I'll answer everything later, right now I..."
"Titania," Ariel appeared, "You found him."
"Yes, I did, thankfully."
"Girls," Titan interrupted, "What's going on?"
Titania looked away sad, and Ariel came over to comfort her, she looked at Titan, "One of us is missing and we can't find them. We think they might've... been caught in crossfire during the revolution. We can't go back to Uranus with one of us missing... what would we tell him?"
Silence.
This is your fault, Titan.
