Work Text:
Buck sat, staring out the window. The sky was gray with heavy clouds, mirroring the storm brewing inside Buck’s mind. He stirred his coffee, sighing.
Tommy walked into the room, immediately sensing the tension in Evan. "Hey, Ev," he said softly, placing a gentle hand on Evan's shoulder. "You okay?"
Evan glanced up. "Just one of those days, Tommy," he replied. "Everything feels... heavy."
Tommy nodded, understanding.
"Come on," Tommy said, pulling out the chair next to Evan and sitting down. "Talk to me. What's on your mind?"
Evan sighed and
Tommy frowned, concerned. "Is it about work? Or something else?"
Evan shook his head. "It's everything. Work, life, us. I keep thinking about all the what-ifs. What if I mess everything up with you?"
Tommy reached out, taking Evan's hand."Hey, look at me," he said, waiting until Evan met his gaze. "You're not alone in our relationship. You know that I love you."
Evan looked down "I know.”
Tommy squeezed his hand.
A small, grateful smile tugged at Evan's lips. "Thank you, Tommy. I love you too.”
"You don't have to think about that," Tommy told him. "Now, how about we get out of the house for a bit? A change of scenery might do you good."
Evan nodded. "Yeah, okay. Maybe some fresh air will help."
Tommy stood up, pulling Evan to his feet. "Let's go, then."
Evan and Tommy decided to take a drive. The city streets were nearly empty, the storm keeping most people indoors.
"Where are we going?" Evan asked, breaking the comfortable silence that had settled between them.
Tommy glanced over, a playful glint in his eyes. "You'll see. Just trust me."
Evan smiled, the corners of his mouth lifting slightly. "I always do."
After a short drive, Tommy pulled into a parking lot overlooking the beach.
Tommy turned off the engine and faced Evan. "Sometimes, when I'm feeling overwhelmed, I come here. It helps me put things in perspective."
Evan gazed out at the ocean. "It's beautiful, even in the rain."
Tommy nodded. "Especially in the rain”
Evan leaned back in his seat, his mind beginning to clear. "I guess I needed this.”
Tommy reached over, taking Evan's hand in his own. "When you are depressed or feel that way, tell me."
Evan squeezed Tommy's hand. "Thank you, Tommy. For everything."
Tommy smiled, his eyes soft with affection. "You don't have to thank me, Ev. Just know that I'm here for you, no matter what."
They sat in comfortable silence for a while, watching the waves crash against the shore. The rain began to lighten, the heavy downpour gradually turning into a gentle drizzle.
"Want to take a walk?" Tommy suggested, glancing at the improving weather.
Evan hesitated, then nodded. "Yeah, I'd like that."
They stepped out of the car, the cool, damp air hitting their faces. The beach was deserted, leaving them alone with the vast expanse of sand and sea. They walked side by side, their footsteps leaving a trail in the wet sand.
"Do you remember the first time we met?" Tommy asked, breaking the silence.
Evan chuckled, the memory bringing a genuine smile to his face. "How could I forget your fake mouth statics? Also when I was a bit jealous of you.”
Tommy laughed. "My voice statics were a good imitation! And remember I was also jealous.”
Evan shrugged "Guess we balanced each other out."
"Yeah, we did," Tommy agreed, his tone fond. "And we still do."
They continued walking, the sound of the ocean a soothing backdrop to their conversation..
As they reached the end of the beach, the rain finally stopped, the clouds beginning to part.
"Looks like the storm is over." Tommy said, glancing up at the clearing sky.
Evan nodded, feeling a sense of calm settle over him. "Yeah, it is."
Tommy wrapped an arm around Evan's shoulders, pulling him close. "See? I told you this place is great for when you're a little down."
Evan leaned into Tommy, a content smile on his face. "I believe you."
They stood there for a moment, watching as the sun slowly emerged from behind the clouds.
The next morning, Evan woke to the great smell of breakfast.
Tommy was already up, humming softly as he prepared breakfast in the kitchen. The comforting smell of coffee and bacon wafted through the air, drawing Evan out of bed. He followed the aroma to find Tommy standing by the stove, a look of concentration on his face as he flipped pancakes.
“Morning,” Evan said, his voice still thick with sleep.
Tommy turned, his face lighting up with a smile. “Morning, Evan. How did you sleep?”
“Better, thanks to you,” Evan replied, moving to wrap his arms around Tommy from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder. “What’s all this?”
“Thought I’d make us a nice breakfast,” Tommy said, leaning back into Evan’s embrace. “Figured we could use a good start to the day.”
Evan tightened his arms around Tommy, feeling the warmth of his body seep into him. “You’re amazing, you know that?”
Tommy chuckled. “Just doing my part. Now, why don’t you sit down and let me finish up here?”
Evan reluctantly let go and took a seat at the table, watching as Tommy moved around the kitchenIn a few minutes, Tommy set a plate of pancakes along with a steaming cup of coffee.
“Bon appétit” Tommy said, taking a seat across from Evan with his own plate.
They ate in comfortable silence for a while.
“So, what’s the plan for today?” Tommy asked, breaking the silence.
Evan took a sip of his coffee. “I was thinking we could just take it easy. Maybe go for a walk later, see a movie. Just spend some time together.”
Tommy nodded and after he smiled. “Sounds perfect to me.”
