The betrothal is announced and Baela is the happiest she's ever been.
Her grandmother had informed her privately beforehand and was hardly surprised to see her respond enthusiastically. After all, anyone with eyes could see that Baela and Jace were meant to be.
“I take it you were hoping for this,” Rhaenys said dryly. Baela nodded rapidly and struggled to hide her wide grin.
“We were both hoping for it. That is, Jace and I,” she answered honestly.
“Well if it makes you happy,” Rhaenys shook her head with a fond smile. “Your grandfather will approve of it, no doubt.”
Her marriage and that of her sisters to Jace and Luke were approved by her uncle, the king, and her heart began to race.
Jace gave her a yearning look and Baela could hardly contain her beam of satisfaction.
Her sister, Rhaena also looked quite pleased with her own betrothed to Lucerys, who smiled shyly at her. Her father saw the lovestruck glances they kept giving each other and smirked knowingly.
Baela allows herself to bask in the moment and imagines her and Jace speaking their everlasting vows that will bond them for life.
