His beloved brother is dead, and Jace falls apart in Baela's arms.
They are informed of Lucerys' passing at Winterfell. Still, he didn't fully believe it until he was greeted by the devastation on his mother's face and heard Rhaena's mournful cries on his return to Dragonstone.
Jace fell apart once with his mother before he managed to gather himself, but he collapsed when he retreated to his bed chambers and found Baela waiting for him with tear streaks on her face.
Heart-wrenching sobs escaped his throat as he curled into her embrace, and he didn't even know how he found the will to speak through his sobs.
"He's gone. My baby brother is gone."
"I know," Baela responded, pressing her lips against his head before lifting it. Her furious gaze met his sorrowful one, and Jace was struck by how captivating she looked when enraged.
"Lucerys will be avenged. I know it," She said, her voice shaky but firm at the same time. "Father will make sure of it."
And Jace didn't doubt Baela. Not even for a moment.
