The transformation from snake to wife meant Bai Suzhen shared her husband's tongue, but she could still become confused by his puns or proverbs (let alone poetry). Music bridged this gap wonderfully.
Sound and vibration, singing and dancing: they were all ways to enjoy the same experience together.
