Work Text:

Ash  watched the staff glow with surprise. He doesn’t think this was supposed to happen. He watched as the staff began to glow, the light kept glowing brighter till it engulfed him. He hopes the light wasn’t bringing him alone, just as he was thinking it he felt Pikachu grabbed onto his leg.

‘It’s too bad my Pokémon are outside’ ash thought with despair. When he opened his eyes again he wasn’t in the same room. Well it was but it didn’t look the same.

For one the Sir Aaron painting was gone, second of all the ball room that was lit up with lights and people, was now silent, empty and dark. The only light was that of the moon.

Ash stepped up to the window and looked out. The well kept gardens were gone, as were any roads and sidewalks.

“Pika?” Ash turned around sharply, “Pikachu! You came.” He smiled to the mouse and hugged him as Pikachu launched himself at him.

“Pikapi Chu Pi” Pikachu said as he hugged his trainer. Ash smiled, “come on Buddy let’s go outside and see if the other made it.”

Pikachu climbed onto his shoulder and held on as Ash sprinted out the castle. They soon made it out where Ash was able to pull out his Pokéballs. Unfortunately when he tried the pokeballs were empty.

“Pi pi chu,” Pikachu said, staring at the pokeballs sadly. Ash frowned, “yeah I know Buddy.” He put the empty pokeballs in the side pouch of his pocket and sighed.

“Who are you?” A voice to his left asked. Ash quickly turned around, Pikachu nearly losing his balance.

When Ash looked back he saw no one, “up here.” The voice said. Ash looked up and spotted someone on the balcony, “Queen Ilean?” Ash asked confused, he thought he got teleported here alone.

The woman on the balcony shook her head. “No, I am Queen Rin. I do not know an Ilean.” Ash stared at her in confusion, how could there be another queen and she not know about the current one?

Ash cursed. Time travel. If he remembers the story correctly Queen Rin was the Queen during Sir Aaron’s time.

Ash hastily bowed, “I’m sorry for the confusion, your majesty. It seems I’ve gotten myself into a bit of a predicament.”

The queen raised an eyebrow, “how so?”

Ash looked around nervously, “do you mind if I tell you about it inside? You never know who could be listening in.”

The queen hummed, “you may.” And with that she turned around leaving Ash to run up the stairs behind her. They ended up walking towards the throne room at the entrance. Queen Rin sat down, Ash wasn’t sure what he should do so he settled for explaining himself.

“I’m not from this time,” he said, the queen didn’t show any signs of surprise so he continued. “I’m not sure how I got here, I was holding the staff when it started glowing and then it was really bright, and then I was here. Or in the ballroom.” Ash said. “I went out to look for my Pokémon.”

The Queen looked at him for a second before nodding, “it’s just as I suspected then.” She got up and smiled. Ash stared at her in shock, how was that expected?

“I knew you looked familiar and not just by your outfit, your aura is unmistakable. Come on I’ll take you to your father, he might know what to do with you.” Queen Rin said as she began walking.

Now Ash was confused, father? Aura? Unmistakable? FATHER?????? Ash hurried to keep pace. “Um your majesty… what do you mean my aura is unmistakable’? And what do you mean by take me to my dad?” Ash asked

The queen hummed, “I would have thought you’d have known by now. Well your Aura is just like you fathers, in fact if it wasn’t for the fact that your a lot shorter and lucario wasn’t there I would have assumed you were him. He has a habit of sitting in the gardens with Pokémon, though you probably already knew that.”

Ash was left with more questions by the end of it. Lucario? Father? Siting in the gardens with Pokémon? It took a second for Ash to realize something important. There was no way she knew his father because he was like.. a thousand years in the PAST.

Ash was about to voice his thoughts when the queen stoped in front of a white door, she knocked on it.

Ash gasped. “Wai-“

He wasn’t able to finish voicing his protest when a Lucario opened the door accompanied by a man with pointy raven hair.

“Hello Queen Rin, is there anything you need?”

Oddly Ash was being to see the resemblance before he realized who it was. Holy crap. That’s Sir Aaron. Ash felt Pikachu shift from his shoulder and into his arms.

Ash blushed with embarrassment as the Queen began, “I apologize for bothering you but it seems as though a situation has occurred. I found your future son standing in the gardens with his friend.. And considering the current laws on knighthood I thought it best to bring him over before anyone else saw him.“ she said, strait to the point.

Sir Aaron blinked and stared at Ash in shock while Ash ducked his head further, pulling his hat down more to cover his face. “I’m-“ he began to try and explain himself when the queen interrupted.

“You know, he’s looks like you. Even does the hat thing when embarrassed. I’m granting you a few days off so we can figure out what happened, but for the meantime you can watch your child.” With that the Queen nudged him inside.

Sir Aaron stared at him before nodding to the Pokémon and walking out the door to talk to the queen.

As soon as he left Ash groaned, “fuck, Im in so much trouble.” He slid down against the wall he was leaning on and hurried his head in his arms.

“You shouldn’t be using such crude words young master.” A voice said in his head.

Ash groaned, “this situation called for it.” Ash’s head shot up, “who said that?”

The Lucario stared at him, “I did, who else?” Ash could hear the suspicion in his voice.

Ash just shrugged, “mew’s done it, and so has Mewtwo and Lugia. Actually Mewtwo also spoke kantonian… so does Meoth now that I think about it.”

Pikachu jumped on his back from where he had been on a he floor and stared at Lucario. “Pika Pikachu, pikapi pi pika pi” he said pointing to himself and then Ash before continuing to speak.

Lucario stared at Pikachu before nodding.

“Chu pika pi chu pi. Pika pika pi Chu.” they seemed to be having a conversation before Lucario turned back to Ash.

“You are not the son of Master?” He asked.

Ash shook his head, “there’s no way, I’m from very far in the future.”

Lucarion shook his head, “if you’ve met as many legendary Pokémon as you claim it it possible you were brought forwards in time.”

Again Ash shook his head, “not possible because I have a mom there.”

Lucario hummed, “you could have been taken in by her and just not told? Do you look alike?” He asked.

Ash felt like the conversation was getting ridiculous, “she would have told me if I was adopted.” He pointed out.

Lucario shook his head, “perhaps she does not believe that telling you was important. Blood matters not when the heart has chosen its family. You said you have a mother but what about your father?”

Ash shook his head, “he left when I was a small.”

“Perhaps he knew you weren’t his? Your Aura is exactly like Masters, and other than you being him the only way that would happen was if you were him or his son.”

Ash was about to say something back when the door opened and Sir Aaron walked in. He looked at Ash and then lucario. They seemed to have a mental conversation as Sir Aron’s tired face went from calm to confused.

“Ash is it?” Sir Aaron asked.

Ash stood up, “yeah that’s me.”

Sir Aaron looked at him and then smiled, “we’ll talk in the morning for now it’s time for bed.” As if reminded Ash yawned and then smiled sheepishly. “Yeah okay.”

Sir Aaron led Ash into the room and made him sleep on the cot while he took the floor, silently speaking with his Pokémon as ash fell asleep.

Sir Aaron did not expect to almost get executed the following morning. You’d think having the Queen on your side would prevent you from being almost executed but apparently not.

He’d awaken to his fellow knights attacking him in his sleep in attempts to cuff him. The boy shouted in surprise at the sight causing his yellow Pokémon to awaken, leap up, and shoot lightning at his knights.

Eventually more guards stormed in at the sound of fighting only to see this odd scene.

Lucario was lying on the floor. Sir Aaron was in his bed clothes fighting two knights, cuts along his body (and his night clothes :[ ), with his hair a mess.

Three knights were on the floor unconscious. A child who looked incredibly like Sir Aaron was on his cot, wearing a cleaner identical outfit to the one he typically wore, and his hair a mess identical to his own.

Not to mention the round fluffy yellow Pokémon with red cheeks standing atop of the wardrobe electrocuting the pile of knights whenever they got up to move.

Apparently the knights at the doorway had taken one look at the child’s aura and ran off to tell the queen, who then rushed to the room,  witch had now descended into chaos, and rushed inside.

“Now I hope this isn’t what I think it is.” She announced drily, standing next to the boy on the cot.

The fighting continues as Sir Aaron informed her of what had happened. “Your majesty, I’m afraid I’m not sure of what is occurring. I was awoken to the knights attacking me in an attempt at arresting me. Im afraid I do not know what transpired prior to that in to get my fellow knights to attack my person.”

“You know what you did!” Sir Playne exclaimed, grunting as he formed a sheild to block Sir Aaron’s aura. “You broke the knights code!” He shouted.

“And had a child!” Sit Adon added.

Needless to say his fellow knights were unimpressed with his not-son who shared the same aura as him and looked just like him.

Sir Adon and Sir Playne didn’t even look the least bit convinced, sharing doubtful looks as they glanced between the supposed not father-son duo.

Which, may he add, was hard to explain to the Queen. She seemed adamant that the child was his and he should take responsibility.

The child in question seemed mostly confused about the whole ordeal. After explaining Aura the boy’s face blanked, he blinked a few times before ducking his head and running towards the gardens.

Sir Aaron hasn’t seen him since mid morning. It already late into the evening and the sun should be setting soon. He sighed, grabbing the child’s meal before heading outside.

What he found was truly a sight to behold.

The child, Ash as he liked to be called, was laying in the gardens. His body outlined by the rather tall grass around him.

The same small yellow Pokémon from earlier was curled up atop of Ash’s stomach. Surrounding them are a bunch of wild Pokemon, some he hadn’t seen often, like the blue ones with markings on their stomach, that stood on two feet, and have long aquadic tails. Or the two big black dog-like pair with horns and bones atop of their backs.

Though there are some he’s never seen, like the blue one with orange cheeks and fins.

He took a moment to admire the scene in from of him, wild Pokemon willingly surrounding his not-son and lying peacefully with him, before he continued his walk forward. On the bright side Lucario was out getting food for himself and the others.

With the exception of few Pokemon who were undisturbed by his arrival, the wild Pokemon began to flee back to the forest upon noticing his arrival. However, a few brave (or perhaps ignorant) Pokemon stayed. Most notably was the Eevee. It’s big, fluffy, and very familiar.

Aaron himself had seen the Eevee from afar for a few years now. It roamed around covered in leaves, sticks, and mud. No mater what he had done the creature had refused to get close to him, he wonders just how the boy managed to befriend the Pokémon so quickly.

And seeing as it was free from sticks, leaves, mud, and its coat was mostly brushed out it’s a safe assumption that Ash had probably headed down to the pond and meet Sir Yaxley.

Carefully, Aaron navigates through the Pokémon. Most run back to the forest, but a select few still stay even with the close proximity to him. The Eevee and Volpix are closer to the boy, they tense but the boy quickly calms them.

Nonetheless they are still watching him, Ears pointed up towards him and their fur slightly raised as they teach his movements.

Finally Aaron reaches the center, keeping a respectful distance from the wild Pokémon as he sits down beside Ash.

“I found Mew.” Ash spoke up. “Mew steed to find celebi to take me back to my present.”

He blinked at the news, “I’m sure you’ve missed being home.”

Ash hummed, “not really, but I do have Pokémon there and they’re probably waiting on me to get back.”

Aaron nodded, he was familiar with the pressure of responsibility. “It’s good to help other, just don’t lose yourself in the process.” He advised, handing over Ash’s food.

Ash tilted his head before nodding.

Neither of them said anything as they watched the sun set. Instead they waited, the garden becoming lively as wild pkémon came out to play, frolicking through the tall grass.

When he sun set and the pink car Pokémon returned with a green and cream colored one, Sir Aaron gave the boy an encouraging smile and hugged him briefly before they disappeared, leaving Sir Aaron to wave goodbye to the pink car Pokemon and report back to Queen Rin, who expressed her regrets to not being able to say goodbye.

Years later when lucario gets unsealed from the staff he was surprised to see his master’s not-son waiting for him.

Notes:

I’ve decided that Queen Rin doesn’t care much for the knight rule that says they can’t have children so when she sees Ash she immediately decides that he needs to see his father so they can try and ensure no one else sees him.

Lucario is unimpressed with Ash’s lack of proof that he wasn’t kidnapped as a baby or willingly sent to the future and then raised by his ‘mom’
After all, Aura doesn’t lie.
