Work Text:

Eddie sat down next to Buck, sighing as he leaned back. “So what did you call us in for?”

The principal straightened, “well it’s come to my attention that there has been a misunderstanding. You see, earlier today one of the students informed Christopher that his mother- uh.. how did he put it, ‘had the hots’ for you and your partner.”

Eddie shifted uncomfortably, glancing at Buck who looked just as uncomfortable. “And that is relevant how?” He questioned.

The principal motioned towards the door, “well Christopher took offense to that and yelled at the boy.”

“Did it- did it escalate further?” Buck questioned, leaning forward slightly with a concerned look on his face. “Are they both alright?”

“Yes- I mean no, it didn’t escalate further as Christopher walked away, and they are both alright. I called you in here because Christopher is now ignoring the boy compleatly and the other student has been complaining to his mother about it.“

“Oh, is that all?” Eddie said. That didn’t sound too bad, at least his child didn’t punch the boy. He knows that he would have if someone had been talking about his parents. He’s glad his son is much more mature than he was at his age.

“What do you mean, ‘is that all?’ Are you not going to punish him?” The principal sputtered.

Eddie blinked, “you want me to punish my son for ignoring a kid who was making weird comments about his parents?” He asked slowly.

The principal frowned, “No, no. The child’s mother informed me that Christopher was so be punished for ignoring her son, so if you could tell him to stop ignoring the child that would be nice. He’s looking at a day of sespention if continues or refuses to apologize.”

“No. Why in the world would I do that?”

“Yeah, how exactly is that fair? He didn’t do anything wrong, and ignoring a singular student is not only, not hurting anyone, but has most definitely not deserving of such punishment.” Buck cut in.

“Well he needs to set an example!“

“And how exactly is one child in charge of his peers behavior?” Eddie quips.

“Has there been any complaints from the teachers? Has he been interrupting class? Is he no longer participating? Does he even have any classes with this kid?” Buck questions, leaning forward with every comment. “If so I’m sure we can have him move classes if it’s become such a problem.”

Eddie nods in agreement.

“Wait- no. It’s not- I haven’t heard anything from any of their teachers-“

“Just the kids mother?” Eddie cuts in.

The principal nods.

“Well then it seems we will be leaving.” Buck says, clapping his hands together.

“And I suppose Christopher will not be here for a week since he will not be apologizing.” Eddie adds, standing up.

Buck and Eddie nod to each other and walk out the office, heading back towards the main office.

Inside they found Christopher slumped over in a chair, his arms crossed as he looked in the opposite direction of the boy standing in front of him.

The boy in question had shaggy dark brown hair and a blue backpack. “Stop ignoring me!” He was shouting.

“Quit being such a baby! Mama says your parents aren’t even together, you’re acting like a baby!” He stomped angrily, moving to stand in front of Chris’ line of vision.

Buck and Eddie shared a look, frowning to each other. Eddie lifted an eyebrow and nodded towards the woman smirking on the corner. Buck nodded back and tilted his head towards the exit. After nodding in agreement, they put their plans into action.

“Chris, it’s time to go home.” He announced, letting his feet thump louder against the floor to draw attention towards himself.

The boy gave him a relieved smile and got up from the chair, hurrying to follow him out as Eddie confronted the other boy’s parent.

Once ther were out of earshot Eddie crossed his arms and turned his attention to the woman glaring at his partner.

“So, is there any reason in particular that you seem to have something against my kid and partner?” He questioned dryly.

The woman’s expression turned into one of anger and discuss then into one in disbelief. “Your really to going to have him apologize to my poor Timmy?”

“Uh-no. He wasn’t doing anything wrong, no one is getting hurt, and if anything your kid should apologize to mine for his insensitive and frankly inappropriate comments.” Eddie said tensely. Eyeing the woman with contempt as she tried to bat her slashes and walk towards him.

“What are you talking about? My Timmy hasn’t said anything like that.” She huffed, dramatically tossing her hair to the side.

“Ignoring the fact that he just told my son that his other father wasn’t really his father, your son was the one who informed himself of your apparent.. feelings towards me any my partner. Hence the reason he’s ignoring him.”

The woman turned red slightly, whether that was in embarrassment or anger he wasn’t sure. “Well I’m sure he didn’t say anything that wasn’t true.”

“Bzzz, false. Buck is my partner in and out of the field. He’s Christopher’s other Father and our best friend. He is family and that will never change.”

“But, what if you get a girlfriend?” She purrs. “Or a wife?”

Eddie huffs in disgust, “It’s is in my will that if I die Buck gets costody of Christopher. That will never change. He has been in Chris’ life since he was 7 and has been helping me raise said child for just as long.”

The woman scowled at the mention of Buck before Pauling. “Fine! If you’re going to be like that I’m just going to pull my Tommy out of his class.”

“Fine.” Eddie said caustically, rolling his eyes and walking out the truck parked on the curbside. He quickly got in and pulled on his seatbelt.

“Well kid, i don’t think you’re going to be hearing for him very often.”

“Good,” Chris muttered. “He was getting on my nerves. I wanted to punch him.. but then I remembered that you went to jail for punching someone.”

Eddie facepalmed and shared a look with Buck who was snickering.

“Well either way I’m glad you didn’t. That kid wouldn’t have been worth it.”

“On the bright side we got you a week off from school.” Buck adds, driving out of the school parking lot.

Christopher perked up, “does this mean I can get ice cream?!”

Eddie hummed, thinking about it. And you know what? For the amount of self control this kid has, “sure bud.”

Buck and Chris cheered in delight.

After getting ice cream Eddie took a picture of them and sent it to Bobby, ‘Chris got suspended for a week for ignoring a kid who was being rude, can we get the next week off?’ He asked.

The reply was immediate, ‘Sure’
