Flash always wanted to be a royal guard. Grant it, when he was a foal he thought he would be one for say Canterlot. And to be fair, he was able to make it there and was a Canterlot guard for quite some time. That was before the Crystal Empire came into existence again.
Now a good little while after that, they needed more guards so Canterlot gave them some which included Flash. Walking around the Crystal Empire took some getting used to but Flash is lucky and thankful to say that he quite enjoys living here.
Sure he will miss his family from time to time but his life here is great!
While walking through the Empire he has taken notice of Princess Twilight whenever she comes to visit her brother and sister in law.
That is quite a nice extra.
