Leo wasn’t entirely sure why he ended up in military school, he knew the courts sent him there, but couldn’t they have tried something else first, he guessed not as he sat awkwardly on the bleachers at the school dance—sitting beside the Di’anglos siblings.
Bianca was currently scolding Nico about bringing his mythomagic cards to the dance, which Leo didn’t really care for. He watched as 3 new kids entered the dance floor, he’d never seen them before, so he turned to Nico to ask him but was met with Dr Thorn’s piercing blue eye.
“Mr Valdez,” he started, “What have I said about sitting by the Di Angelos,”
“Not too,” Leo said sadly, “but not like I’m going to turn them bad,”
“You already got Nico to bring his cards to the dance,” Bianca said.
“Hey I would’ve brought them here anyways!” Nico protested.
“It doesn’t matter, Mr. Valdez, please move somewhere else,”
Leo groaned but obliged, maybe he could find some information about the new kids, but before he could, Dr thorn turned around and said, “Maybe it’s better if you stay here,”
“Excuse me?” Nico, Bianca, and Leo asked in unison.
“It is a party, is it not, who am I to decide who you hang out with,” Dr Thorn said, staring at the new kids
“Umm okay,” that was weird, Leo thought to himself.
A few moments later Dr Thorn hurriedly pulled the group by their necks.
“Hey, that hurts!” Leo yelled as he felt the unmistakable feeling of metal coming their way, suddenly one of the new kids burst through and shielded them
“I’m not going to let you take them!” He yelled and then turned to the young demigods, “My name’s Percy, I’m going to take you out of here, and get you somewhere safe.”
A whisssh sound rang across the room as Percy was thrown backward and pinned against the wall, “Yes Percy Jackson, I know who you are,”
Leo watched helplessly, as Percy struggled to break free, he’d dealt with monsters before, but he hadn’t met a monster like whatever Dr. Thorn was.
Leo scrambled back, clutching his necklace, it was one of the few things his dad had given him, or that’s what his Tia had said.
“Thank you for coming out of the gym,” Dr Thorn smiled, joy dancing across his eyes, “I hate middle school dances,”
“Then why are you a teacher,” Dr. Thorn didn’t like that very much.
Percy tried to swing his sword again, but another projectile rushed him and hit Leo instead, square in his leg.
Nico and Bianca screamed, Leo could feel the poison running through his blood, he would’ve cried if he hadn't thought it would’ve make it worse. All his nerves were on fire, every slightest feeling ignited pain.
“All four of you will come with me,” Dr. Thorn sneered, “Quietly. Obediently. If you make a single noise, if you call out for help or try to fight, I will show you just how accurately I can throw,” No one protested.
