Work Text:
The drug worked fast and without mercy and even if he was a Doctor, Law couldn't think of anything he could do to counteract the substance in his blood, not bound with seastone as he was currently at least. Had he access to his power, it could be possible to trace it, to cut out the serum before his blood cells absorbed it or-
Well, it was meaningless thinking how and what ifs, it was too late and he had no options to counteract the drug.
“Oi! Leave Torao alone!” Luffy snarled, similarly bound in seastone in the cell with him, an extra layer of cuffs around his ankles and knees as well. Guess they didn’t want to take any chances with the loose canon that is Monkey D. Luffy.
“Quiet. You’ll have your turn soon enough.” The Marine ordered, and Luffy’s glare could probably cut through iron.
“Tell me your name.” The Marine ordered and Law opened his mouth to tell the man to fuck off and ‘wasn’t it obvious’ except instead-
“Law.”
“All of it, boy.” The man demanded and Law couldn’t breathe. His body obeyed while his mind screamed at him. He couldn’t control a single word out of his mouth, truth pouring out in the face of the older Marine.
“Trafalgar D. Water Law.”
The name surprised the man, as it would have nearly anyone in the New World, D’s were really rather infamous and Law had been glad he’d never let slip his initial after Cora-san’s wise insistence. It was all moot point now though, because the man knew and everyone would know and-
“A D hm?”
“What did you do to Torao?!” Luffy yelled, thrashing in his bindings despite how draining the action must have been. Law couldn’t breathe, his own words echoing. He’d said it so easily, the words plucked from him without his say and the room suddenly felt so much smaller and cold and dark and-
He was a Doctor, he knew the signs of a Panic Attack, even so, while the logical part of his brain knew where he was, very much trapped in a cell with his ally, while their collective crews likely hatched a ridiculous plan to save them (only to throw the plan out of the window likely) the other side of his brain could only compare the stifling feeling of the cell to that of a small treasure chest and-
“..Compulsive Truth Serum…” Law couldn’t focus on the Marine’s half assed explanation to Luffy (who looked frankly ridiculous, face scrunched up trying to understand a word of the explanation,) and it was a pain because if Law could learn enough, maybe he could counter it or something but no-
The next words to cut through his shallow breathing was even worse though.
“Where are you from?”
“...Flevance.”
Wasn’t it funny how one word held so much power but for all the wrong reasons?
