“What has caught Akivili’s eye in the mortal world now?”
Aha comes closer to where THEIR beloved was sitting comfortably, admiring one of the many planets that composed the galaxy. Strangely, Akivili was quite close to the object of THEIR observation, given THEY possessed the power to look from as far as the other corner of the cosmos was situated. It was not hard for The Elation to know that the Aeon was engrossed into the current subject of THEIR curiosity. Without looking away from the planet, Akivili finally responds once THEY notice THEIR partner had been close to THEIR self for a good amount of time.
“Have you ever thought about the fact that mortals are in a constant hunt game with each other and other creatures?”
One of Akivili's legs was resting completely against the surface THEY were resting on, the other bent enough to be able to rest the hand from the same side on top. The Aeon seemed awfully calm for THEIR usual status, but it was not an unheard of situation, just uncommon given Akivili’s usual energy levels.
“Aha has never, Akivili usually is the one to think about that. Does Akivili want to tell?”
The famous warm smile that characterized The Trailblaze comes back to THEIR face, that clear shine on THEIR eyes denoting that THEY have found something interesting to be curious about, but were even more eager to speak about it.
“I don't have the exact words to depict it, I just think about the… almost natural process of things that make them end up in this way.”
Aha stares back at the other, still not completely clear on what that explanation was supposed to mean. But The Elation starts playing around with THEIR masks, a light laugh being heard from THEM before focusing back on Akivili.
“Cryptic answer, Akivili sounds a lot like Mythus now.”
Aha decided to tease THEIR partner just a bit, looking at the pout that was suddenly on The Trailblaze’s face. The pouting was fun, but Aha did want to listen.
“Akivili can take THEIR time, Aha has nothing to do but listen.”
The pout was replaced by glowling, starry eyes looking back at the bundle of masks that was The Joyseeker. There was definitely something in Akivili's head that had THEM so pensive before and excited to share now, it was just a matter of how and when those thoughts would be organized enough to serve to anyone other than THEM.
“To make it feel easier… hmm… here.”
After a rather short pause, Akivili decided to use one of THEIR many powers, the same one that allowed THEM to tell stories in a more realistic way. Not long passed before right in front of their eyes was a small version of the same galaxy they were in, but right at its beginning, when it was but a void with no life or matter.
“There is the starting point, somewhere back at the end of Terminus’ journey. That is where everything started, see? It starts with a dot, there is nothing else.”
In the void that created the space, a small dot akin to a faraway star’s appearance developed, moving around the illusion as Akivili tried to do THEIR best to convey THEIR thoughts. After the display, THEY decide to finally continue speaking.
“But that dot is weak, because it has nothing to strive for, not until something that can eat it appears.”
Aha now looked way more invested, THEY were already seeing where the other was coming from, and were excited to see the rest of the explanation. Nothing could have prepared Aha for what followed, but THEIR bells were already jingling like the hat of an enthusiastic jester.
“The desire to survive being killed will always be greater than the desire to kill. So the dot becomes stronger, and the being that eats it also does. Then the dot becomes… smart, clever in its steps, bouncing around and finding ways to preserve themselves. That is why there will always be more dots than beings that kill and eat them, or rather… there should, if the dot wants to survive.”
Akivili was getting more and more engrossed in THEIR explanation, while Aha's senses were fully focused on THEIR partner’s words. It was not always that Akivili was so deep in thought, so entranced with a concept, and idea, at least not in a way that could be so easily spotted. But that was just feeding Akivili's unstoppable curiosity, so Aha did not interrupt THEM, just decided to listen to see if the conversation would keep tickling THEIR fancy as it had done till then.
“In a strange way… we all are dots in space, and also someone's dot eating being while having one of our own. But that helps us move forward and become better versions of the past self. I like this about mortals, they are not stagnant at all, for better or worse.”
The Elation lets out a short chuckle, getting up to wrap THEIR hands around THEIR beloved who still seemed to be hyperfocused on such a seemingly small yet important deal. Important for THEM, at least, and that was enough for Aha to be thoroughly interested.
“Akivili’s fascination with the mortals could be seen as strange by others. Does Akivili know?”
Those words just make The Trailblaze smile satisfied, being seen as strange by others was the least of THEIR worries, and more like a medal of honor. THEY did not desire to be perceived as anything short of fascinating and unpredictable.
“But you know me well, right, Joy?”
“That Aha does, that curiosity is one of the things that attracted Aha about Akivili. It is fun, but Aha wonders if we are also dots.”
There was silence after that question, maybe longer than what Aha THEMSELVES had expected despite knowing it was not a straightforward question to answer. Akivili knew exactly that Aha referred to the Aeons, since Akivili had only talked about mortals up to that point. To say that it was a hard question to ask about concepts who should be devoted to their own paths was an understatement.. The Trailblaze ends up getting comfortable in Aha's strong grip around THEIR body, letting out a humm that helped THEM think before shaking THEIR head.
“That I don't know. But now I have a dire need to find out.”
More bells jingle, elation feeling both of them in that instant.
“Aha has successfully provided future entertainment for Akivili! Aha is happy because of that!”
The Elation was not the only excited one between them, The Trailblaze’s head was already getting full of turning cogs about how to go about this new adventure that had appeared in front of THEM.
“And Akivili is happy too. The next journey seems to be one without a clear North… that is exciting.”
“What do you think the Trailblazers would say about Aha's amazing idea?”
“Pom-Pom will not be thrilled about following the words of a madman. But if that madman is The Trailblaze THEMSELVES…. I believe they would not mind.”
There was an exchange of laughs and looks between the two aeonic lovers, all before Akivili shared a kiss with one of Aha’s many masks. THEY had decided to rest before embarking on the next journey, a journey who may as well last THEIR entire life.
