Work Text:
“The way Akivili gazes at Aha is absolutely beautiful”
The Trailblaze, who was way too entranced by THEIR partner to notice how intense THEIR gaze became, was certainly not expecting such words to come out from their Joy, not when both of them were supposedly stargazing. Akivili laughs, taking one of THEIR hands to THEIR own neck in a sort of apologetic gesture.
“I didn't think you would notice.”
Aha's multiple eyes did not look away from the sky until that moment, the mask that THEIR human form always needed when in front of people laying down right between THEM and THEIR starry lover. The Elation did not dislike the mask, but while being around The Trailblaze, it was a personal preference to not have it on.
“Akivili has a staring problem.”
Now Aha is the one to laugh, the innumerable shadows that were swirling and moving on THEIR face showing several curious eyes that decided to stare back at THEIR observer.
Out of all the Aeons, only the two of them took time out of their neverending work for their paths to visit the mortal worlds, currently stranding themselves on an isolated planet so the world could be quiet for them. The only noise the two starry lovers needed was the noise from the other, and any sound they could create together. The other was the only melody each of them desired, and it was not hard to guess, though they never had or felt the need to conceal their relationship. Without much more talking, Akivili lets THEIR body fall forward against Aha's, closing both eyes and wrapping THEIR hands around The Elation.
“Cold.”
THEY commented, but It was not in a negative way, rather, Akivili enjoyed the coldness of the body of THEIR beloved, it was Aha’s temperature after all, and that was Akivili’s favorite.
“Warm.”
A soft jingle of bells can be heard with Aha's response as THEIR hands are the ones now wrapping around Akivili's frame. Akivili was soft, warm as THEY had expressed before, like holding a sun between your hands with just enough heat to make you feel the spice of it. THEY liked to play around with human bodies of all kinds, but Aha loved every single one of them without any sort of preference: the only thing Aha preferred was Akivili’s presence, and this was more than enough to keep THEM content and elated.
The Trailblaze moves, turning around a bit in order to look up at the sky, blinking several times and reaching a hand up as if attempting to grab one of the stars. Akivili’s hand closes, but THEY had not catched any star, they were too far away from the planet, but THEY already knew that.
“They look so far from here. Mortals get to see such a nice view of the starry sky every time the sun sets down... I am a bit jealous of that.”
Akivili's eyes were incredibly sharp, and whenever THEY wanted to look at something, not much focus was needed before THEY could bear witness to an ant fight at the opposite side of the galaxy. But it came with its setbacks, requiring a conscious effort to re-adjust and see everything as the others saw it.
“Akivili should not be jealous of the mortals.”
Aha hated when THEIR partner felt any sort of unpleasant emotion, and was well aware about how much Akivili enjoyed doing mundane mortal things. But THEY also wanted to make Akivili not feel as if the mortals’ life was any less grandiose than that of an Aeon.
“I am at times, and I don't think that is a bad thing to feel. Simple creatures who get to do so much despite their short lifespan and have an innate desire to leave a legacy behind...”
While leaning against THEIR beloved Elation, Akivili felt as peaceful as THEY could ever be, knowing it was not an easy feat for any of the two to reach a state of quietness that they enjoyed. Akivili liked to always be traveling, and Aha’s misdeeds were the talk of the entire galaxy. And yet here they were, feeling each other's presence in complete silence, away from every single eye that could interrupt their rest. But Aha was left pondering on THEIR beloved’s words, all until those thoughts were suddenly interrupted.
“The Moon is beautiful isn't it?”
Akivili softly mentions, deciding to just close THEIR eyes while getting comfortable against THEIR beloved. The Elation's hands wrap once again around The Trailblaze, deciding to just rest THEIR head on top of THEIRS.
“The Sun also is.”
But there was no Sun on that planet at the moment, causing Akivili to tilt THEIR head in place, slight confusion now populating THEIR expression. A soft giggle comes out of Aha, quickly changing into a noisy laughter, all while tightening THEIR grip around Akivili before finally saying THEIR piece.
“Akivili's confusion can be funny. But Aha knows, Aha knows what Akivili meant.”
“Where have you heard it before?”
Aha takes a moment before answering, wanting to not say the story in full at first, but also wanting Akivili to know what THEY were thinking at the moment.
“The Fools, some were saying it was a ridiculous phrase.”
Everyone knew a lot of the Masked Fools were not as enthusiastic about romance as their own Aeon, but that had always been amusing to The Elation.
“Does Aha think it is?”
“Never, because the Moon is beautiful. But Aha also thinks the Sun is just as beautiful.”
“If you think so, we can stay and watch when the Sun come-”
Akivili felt the embrace tighten once again, stopping the sentence halfway through the suggestion. Aha's ambiguity for a face ended up hiding right on the joint between The Trailblaze's shoulder and THEIR neck, trailing under Akivili's arm with THEIR own before reaching to hold onto the warm hand of THEIR partner.
“Aha's Sun is always here.”
It was always a surprise for Akivili when Aha showed THEMSELVES like that. How could THEY say such things without violating the restrictions of the Primum Mobile? The Path of Elation was certainly a strange one and impossible to decipher for everyone that wasn't Aha, but Aha's interpretation and way of directing THEMSELVES did not help with the confusion. It has been a long time since Akivili decided to just get swayed by Aha's Elation instead of attempting to crack the code of it. Maybe this one unknowable thing… maybe THEY were fine with it.
“And what if I am traveling and your Sun has to be away for a bit?”
That was their reality, in the end, both Aeons spent a grand part of their time on their own path, leaving encounters like the current one to be scarce.
“That is what the Sun does, it leaves with every cycle and then returns, always, leaving you time to appreciate its presence with its absence.”
“Is it fun?”
Akivili had to ask, it seemed like way too much patience was needed to make it work without falling into madness due to the separation, after all, the Sun was important. But The Elation was ready with an answer, seemingly having thought about it beforehand, or Aeons know when.
“It is to me, feeling intense Elation when I know my Sun is about to come to me. The waiting is just a minor inconvenience, a small sacrifice to reach the ultimate happiness.”
Any person wouldn't peg Aha as a patient one, but THEY were, willing to wait and delay immediate satisfaction in order for a stronger feeling to take place. Aha's Elation could lay dormant, all before exploding into a million fireworks. If Aha deemed it fun and entertaining enough, waiting was also part of THEIR path.
Akivili's eyes focus on the stars once again, feeling like the effort needed to look at them like the mortals did was always worth it, maybe, that was just as THEIR partner’s patience. Aha did the same, following The Trailblaze's line of sight into the sky. What a sight that would have been for anyone, the two most human Aeons doing such an uneventful human activity. But precisely because of that was that stargazing was left as something to do sparingly, in order to enjoy it more, beings as eternal as those Aeons had to wait for the skies to change to admire a new set of stars and cosmical formations.
There, Akivili could let THEIR ever-seeing eyes behave like those of the mortals THEY so much loved, and Aha could drop all masks, holding THEIR Sun between THEIR arms and listening how THEY started to hum a melody only known to THEIR Nameless.
Elation could be quiet at times, and Trailblaze could stop for a moment, all to meet in the middle and allow themselves to just be them, the Primum Mobile seemingly releasing its grasp on their will. But that was just for a moment, that moment.
