Work Text:
Change. He never liked change. Status quo, always staying the same, expecting the same rules and schedule he had always known. It kept him safe, it kept him sane.... But then... A Hawke came, and grabbed him by the shoulders, showing him a world he had never seen before.
Change. It was scary. Dwarves weren't meant to fly, but Hawke didn't care. She had wings enough for both of them. Though he wished someone had warned him, before he had tried to be hero of the day, because he ended up being the one swept off his feet.
Change. God, when did humans look so beautiful? When did her laugh turn into music? When did her happiness turn into his world?
Change. Sunshine was a surprise. He could see how she made Hawke want to fly higher. Always asking questions, always learning, being too innocent for her own good. He liked her, even if she did flirt with danger, but when you look up to Hawke it's hard not to.
Change. Red had gone through too much of it already. Maybe that's why she stuck so closely to what little she knew. Guards and swords and crime. Maybe why she stuck so close to Hawke, even as the two disagreed on everything. City guard running with the city hooligans. But then again, there was safety in the same.
Change. Daisy was full of it. Rocking to and fro from everything she knew. Throwing it all behind and forging on, all with a smile on her face. Half the time I don't think she even realized she was changing. Cause she never really changed. That scares him.
Change. Broody is like him, sitting like a rock in a river, refusing to follow the current, damming the flow, till it shoves him along, just to get stuck again. Too bad for him, Hawke likes to collect rocks.
Change. Blondie... That man was the definition of change. The Chantry should change, he should change, the world should change. But when does Justice just turn into Revenge? When does hurt end up causing the pain?
Change. Rivaini, oh Rivaini. Her shell changes every night. Different stories, different life, same hurting heart hidden away from everyone. Change hurt her, so now she changes first.
Change. Letter to Bianca... They've been blank for a while. No reply from her, so at least that's the same for now.
Change. When did the jokes turn into truths? When did his smile turn genuine, and his side ache from laughter? When did he feel... Almost frightened. The plan had been the same, it didn't change. Then what did, why was he suddenly afraid for the Hawke in the dark?
Change. Sunshine, why did it have to be Sunshine?
Change. Years have gone by, Sunshine still writes, but the world is less bright. Hawke often flies in, roosting at his table. A nice change.
Change. The city is changing. Horned ones and blood magic. Everyone sees it, everyone feels it. Can things really stay the same? Do I even want them to?
