STREAM "OTAKU HOT GIRL" BY MEGAN

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Nobara snorts at the TikTok playing on her feed before showing it to Megumi. “This is so you.”

It was one of those “Introverts Be Like” videos. As he watches, Megumi realizes he either personally relates to or has said everything the content creator mentions in the video, but hell would have to freeze over before he admits that to Nobara.

He pushes Nobara’s hand away with a tsk, ignoring the girl as she points and cackles.

Just then, footsteps thunder down the hall, and the door to the lounge is slid open with a bang. Megumi and Nobara whip their heads around.

“GOJO-SENSEI GOT US TICKETS TO A MEGAN CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Nobara jumps up from the chair. “Are you serious?!” At Yuuji’s enthusiastic nod, the shock on her face intensifies. “No way!”

“Way!” Yuuji squeals, grinning so hard his entire face turns red.

“Who’s Megan?” Megumi asks, confused.

He goes unheard. Yuuji starts randomly jumping around and Nobara is too busy pacing back and forth to answer him. Megumi makes a mental note to have someone pad both of their walls later.

Nobara talks a mile a minute under her breath, all to herself. “What am I gonna wear? How am I gonna do my hair? Should I wear makeup?” She looks up, grabs Yuuji mid-jump, and shakes him by his shoulders. “When is it?!”

“Tonight!”

“WHAT?”

“Gojo-sensei got us the tickets last minute! He must’ve heard us talking about it the other day!” Yuuji says, far too happy about the news to pick up on Nobara’s distress. “I can’t believe I’m going to see my biggest woman crush!!”

Megumi raises an eyebrow at this. “What, like you have a man crush or something?”

Now all of a sudden Yuuji’s ears work. “Wha- wha? No!” he denies, scratching the back of his neck as his cheeks turn pink. “I-I mean, unless Kugisaki mentioned something…”

“Can you two focus?!” Nobara snaps her fingers twice at them.

“We have less than four hours before the biggest night of our lives—Itadori, start up our ‘hot girl playlist’ and I’ll load up the dances on TikTok! We’ve got work to do!”

“Aye, aye, captain!” Yuuji salutes.

Nobara links her and Yuuji’s arms together, the two of them in their own world as they chat excitedly on their way out. They leave the lounge in a flourish.

Rolling his eyes, Megumi pockets his phone as he stands, heading in the direction his other classmates went, grumbling under his breath. Tonight is going to be the longest night of his life.

After standing in line for two hours straight, going through metal detectors, enduring a pat-down by security, holding Nobara back from fighting security, navigating through crowds, finding their seats, and waiting over an hour later than scheduled, the concert finally starts.

The lights in the large stadium start to dim. Yuuji, decked out from head-to-toe in Megan gear, no longer has feeling in any of his limbs. “Oh my god I’m about to see Megan Thee Stallion in real life…oh my god oh my god this is actually happening…”

Megumi eyes him from the side. “Are we going to need to call an ambulance for you?”

Nobara isn’t paying attention to either of them, too busy live-streaming the whole thing for their other schoolmates over video chat. Mostly Maki. “Maki-senpai, what’d you say?! The signal in here’s so bad!”

Dancing flames appear on the big screens right above them. Yuuji turns to Megumi and launches into an absurdly detailed explanation of how the flames correlate to the phrase "hot girl summer” while his eyes are still fixed on the stage.

But all hell (no pun intended) breaks loose when the woman of the hour finally appears.

Yuuji stops mid-explanation to put fifteen years worth of life into the scream he lets out. “MEGAN-THEE-STALLION-SAMA I LOVE YOU!”

Megan starts performing and, at some point, turns around and shakes her ass in front of the crowd with a cheeky grin on her face. Megumi looks away in surprise, Yuuji bends over the railing separating them from the stage and has to be held back by one of the guards, Nobara twerks along with Megan and promptly sends the video to Maki.

Megumi gets accidentally whacked an obscene amount as Megan’s voice booms through the stadium. Turning around, he scowls at the other people in the pit (because Gojo just had to get them front-row seats) with them.

They don’t even acknowledge him. Megan’s silhouette reflects next to the stars in their eyes. Megumi doesn’t get it.

“What’s up, Tokyo hotties?!” Megan shouts into her mic after the short beginning performance. “Y’all ready to turn up tonight?”

The crowd goes wild in reply. Nobara, having just rapped an entire verse while shaking her ass, barely has any breath left to scream. Somehow, she manages and nearly blows Megumi’s ear out.

Megumi contemplates putting on headphones.

Sorry, hoes hate me ‘cause I’m the it girlllll

Yuuji and Nobara bounce the lyrics between them, dancing and doing an affinity of sassy hand motions as they get in each other’s faces like they’re having a showdown of who can deliver the lyrics better (or can deliver them more absurdly, if you ask Megumi, who has his headphones on, by the way). The guard stationed at the front of the stage reluctantly films them on Nobara’s phone, coerced into doing so by the determined teenage girl.

By the time Savage plays, Megumi honestly starts to contemplate life.

As Nobara and Yuuji perform the infamous TikTok dance in front of him, Megumi gets flashbacks to a time where this song was the only thing he’d hear between missions and on days off. Nobara and Yuuji had dedicated themselves to weeks of learning and perfecting the dance until they deemed it “post-ready.”

Even after posting, they had watched the finished product so many times that even hearing the words "classy, bougie, ratchet” gives Megumi a slight migraine.

He still holds Nobara’s purse and all the merchandise Yuuji bought though, albeit with a bored and slightly pained expression.

No, he does not smile when they ask him, after the song is over, if they did well. Mind your business.

At some point during the show, someone throws a rainbow flag. Ms. Stallion catches it.

“Oh, no,” Megumi mutters under his breath.

Nobara nudges him with a smirk. “Happy Pride, Fushiguro. Shoutout to you and that whole gay thing you got going on.”

Megumi glares at her.

Ms. Stallion struts around the stage, the flag waving behind her. Then, for reasons Megumi can’t even begin to understand, she starts singing, “Be who you are~”

The crowd finishes. “For your prideeee~!!!”

Megumi taps Nobara’s shoulder. “Is that a line from one of her songs or something?” he asks.

Nobara rolls her eyes at him, sighing. “Oh, Fushiguro, you poor, uncultured swine.”

“Happy Pride, hotties!” Megan says from above them with a winning smile.

She tucks the flag in her skirt and performs like that for the rest of the concert. Megumi supposes he appreciates the sentiment.

Yuuji and Nobara rave about it to Gojo and the others on the entire drive back to Jujutsu Tech. Where. Gojo. And. The. Others. Are.

While Nobara is talking on the phone, Yuuji leans in towards Megumi to show him his phone. Megumi feels his eyes bug out when he sees that it’s a picture of himself at the concert. If one were to look very, very, very closely with a microscope maybe, they could see the very, very, very slight curved ends of Megumi’s lips.

“I screenshotted it from my and Nobara’s Savage dance,” Yuuji tells him.

Nobara points an accusatory finger over at Megumi. “Fake ass emo I saw you smiling.”

“I didn’t even know I was in the camera,” Megumi says, sounding annoyed. “Why’d you even screenshot it? Delete it.”

“I can’t.”

“Why not?”

“It’s the only evidence I have of you enjoying yourself at the concert, Fushiguro. Probably the one of the few things I have of you looking happy in general. I can’t just delete that,” Yuuji says, smiling softly at Megumi as he tilts his head to the side.

When Megumi says nothing in reply, Yuuji turns back to gossiping with Nobara and the others on the phone. Megumi smoothly slips his hand in Yuuji’s pocket to take out the phone and delete the picture anyway. Nobara sees this but doesn’t react, because who was going to tell Megumi that for the evidence to be truly gone, he’d have to delete her and Yuuji’s entire Savage video?

Surely not her.

The three of them are in the middle of a mission, scoping out the Grade 2 curses they’re supposed to exorcise at a theme park, when the notification comes through.

Needless to say, Nobara and Yuuji, upon seeing their Savage TikTok get featured in a post by thee Megan Thee Stallion, nearly get all three of them killed by screaming and inadvertently revealing their location to the enemy.

Megumi’s sad to say it’s still one of their easier nights.

hope you enjoyed!
