Work Text:
It’s getting so fucking cold. Sakura looked at the overcast skies as he rubbed the back of his neck. Soon, he’d have to switch to long-sleeved shirts, maybe get a new coat as well. It would have to wait until the weekend though, because he was swamped with tasks he had to do.
Just as he was about to let out a sneeze, a hand grabbed his shoulder. He was startled by it, looking behind to see Kaji's annoyed face.
“Are you stupid?” Kaji was one of the few people in Furin who could never greet Sakura like a normal person would, it was always hey, you or listen now, idiot with him. Not that Sakura minded, he got used to his quirks already. Besides, there was no point in pretending to be nice if it wasn’t genuine. That was the reason Sakura, mostly, enjoyed spending time with Kaji.
“Who’s stupid? You’re the one who suddenly grabbed me!” Sakura shook off his hand with a disgruntled noise. He waited for Kaji to explain his actions, because he was going to claim Sakura was stupid, he better have some good reason for that.
“Don’t be so loud in the morning!”
Umm, hypocritical much?! Kaji’s tone also got louder. Not to mention, Kaji’s left ear was still covered by the headphones, so with the right side of the headphones pulled over, Sakura could definitely hear the music coming out. Now that was loud as fuck. Sakura wanted to take the headphones off Kaji’s head so badly – talking like that was annoying – but he decided against it. He shouldn’t overstep the boundaries…
“So what?” Instead, he lowered his voice, trying not to sound too grumpy. “What do ya want?”
“To ask why the fuck you’re walking around like that!”
That…explained nothing! Sakura was dressed like he usually did, what was the problem with that?
“Haaa…” Kaji let out a long, exasperated sigh. “I’m talking about your neck! It’s so cold, but you’re still walking with your neck exposed?!”
“You’re exaggerating, AH – !” Sakura started to counter him, but jumped back when Kaji’s hand touched his neck. Warm… he almost nuzzled into the touch.
“You see? You’re freezing, damn.” Kaji took back his hand just as quickly, that was meant to prove a point and nothing else, but Sakura was disappointed nonetheless. He eyed Kaji with a weary look, now on guard as he couldn’t tell what Kaji was planning to do next, but his eyes followed that hand, almost yearning for it to touch him once again. “You’re so fucking lucky I happen to have this.”
“Huh?”
But Kaji offered no answer. He was looking through his bag, eventually pulling out a plaid scarf. “You can wear that for now.”
Well, if he was going to pester Sakura so much because of that, yeah, he could wear that, for now. He reached out – to take the scarf, but his hand bumped into Kaji’s chest instead.
“Wha – “
Too close! Sakura instinctively closed his eyes when Kaji’s face was inches away from his. Bad move on his part, since now he was fully aware of Kaji’s breath on his own face, tickling his sensitive ear. He felt the fabric being wrapped around his neck, but it was taking far too long for what should be a quick movement.
Sakura opened his eyes carefully, another bad move. It seemed like Kaji was tying the scarf, but Sakura couldn’t care less about that at the moment – their faces…were still too close! He swallowed hard as he studied the shape of Kaji’s ear and immediately berated himself for doing so – that was a weird thing to look at!
“Alright.” Kaji looked overly satisfied. “Let’s go to school now.” He turned around and started walking, but after a few steps, he noticed Sakura wasn’t following him. “The fuck you’re dawdling for? C’mon!”
Sakura, despite being in a haze, managed to move his legs forward. His neck was warmed thanks to the scarf, but his face was hot due to a different reason altogether…
He was still on edge when he entered his homeroom.
“Wow, Sakura-chan, nice look!” Kiryuu was the first to greet him. “Bold choice, considering your usual style, hm?”
Sakura had expected that. The scarf was a bright red one, in addition to the pattern, not a thing he’d have in his wardrobe. Honestly, he didn’t have any scarves in his wardrobe in the first place. Oh, or a wardrobe technically? He didn’t use his closet after all…
“Ah, good morning, Sakura-san…” The way Nirei looked at him was too suspicious to Sakura’s liking. Something’s up…!
“What?!” Sakura felt the anger creeping in. “I just chose to wear a scarf today, what’s the problem with that?!”
“Haha, Sakura-kun.” Suou slowly chuckled. “That’s not your scarf at all, you didn’t even tie it yourself, right?”
How does he know so much?!
As if reading his mind, Suou continued. “It’s so clear if you look at that.” He took out his phone and tapped on it a few times. After that, a ping sound came from Sakura’s phone. Suou sent a picture in the group chat…
Sakura dropped his phone to the ground. He turned his head around as far as he could but he still wasn’t able to see that. The picture showed…a fucking bow! Kaji tied the scarf into a bow! Why the heck would he do that! He tried to grab at the ends of the scarf and pulled them, but all it did was tighten the knot around his neck.
“So…who was it?” Suou circled around him, choosing to bother Sakura when he was struggling with the damn scarf.
“Yeah, who is it?” Kiryuu joined, though he stayed seated, fortunately.
“Hey…” Tsugeura, too?! “Didn’t you come with Kaji-han this morning?”
Fuuuuuuck! Tsugeura and his big mouth! Why did he have to tell them!
“I see, I see. So that was Kaji-san’s doing, how interesting!” The cryptic smile on Suou’s face was scary.
“Yep, super cute, Sakura-chan!” Kiryuu giggled. “I knew you two were close, but this much?”
“Really? So one of Kaji-han’s virtues is liking cute things?”
“Tsuge-chan…that’s not quite right…” Kiryuu smiled at him with exasperation.
“Well, not necessarily?” Suou said. “If it has something to do with Sakura-kun, I think he might.”
Sakura stopped struggling with the annoying scarf – somehow his hands got tangled in it! – to shoot a dirty look at Suou. “Stop spouting nonsense! Let’s take it outside!”
“Sakura-san…that’s not very threatening when you’re stuck like that…”
After that day, Sakura meant to return that scarf. It caused him enough grievances already, yet, he couldn’t find the right timing. He didn’t have much contact with their seniors, as their class was able to operate almost independently at this point, and whenever they did meet up, he didn’t have the scarf in his possession. It didn’t seem like something worth dragging himself to 2-1 over, neither did it feel like something to text about.
Eventually, he hung the scarf on the curtain rod, next to his uniform. Sometimes, he even used it, though mostly outside of school, and he began to think of it as his own garment. If Kaji wanted it back, surely he would’ve asked for it by now.
But, one day, as he got ready to go out with Nirei, he figured the scarf would be a nice touch to his casual outfit. The only problem was that with the jacket zipped all the way up, wearing a scarf as well would be awkward.
Kaji always wore hoodies – and his were much tighter than Sakura’s mountain jacket. A hoodie would do a fine job warming his neck area, so having a scarf on was an overkill. There was also the fact that he had his headphones on his neck whenever he wasn’t listening to music. Then, why would Kaji carry a scarf with him…?
“And they call me an idiot?” Sakura huffed as he put the scarf back on the hanger. “Look at him, carrying useless shit!”
Hesitantly opening the main door, Sakura watched the rain hitting the ground from the school’s entrance. It was getting late so he knew he should leave, but his feet were planted in place.
The chilly breeze made him shudder coming from outside, and he thought about the scarf he forgot at home today. He didn’t like bringing it to school, just in case anyone in his school would remind him of the bow accident, but he was starting to regret it.
In the distance, he saw someone with an umbrella moving towards school. Upon closer inspection, Sakura recognized the hoodie and held the door open for Kaji.
“What are you doing here?” Kaji asked with a frown. “It’s so late…did anyone keep you around?”
“Could ask you the same question.”
“Don’t be such a smartass.” Okay, so Kaji was pissed today, good to know. “I forgot something in class.”
“And I had to move planters the entire afternoon.” Remembering that made Sakura grumble.
“Damn, my condolences, but you should prepare a list of plausible excuses for next time.” Kaji nodded to himself.
“Isn’t this the kind of shit you should teach your juniors ahead of time?” Though Sakura said that, he was worried he was acting too familiarly.
“No way.” Kaji broke into a smile. “There are some things you gotta experience first hand.”
He wanted to reply – to say the last word, but Kaji was walking towards the staircase. Once again, he opened the door and peered outside. Would it be rude to leave, should he wait for Kaji? They could walk part of the way together, but should they?
He was pissy before, but I guess it’s not as bad if he can smile like that? Sakura thought. Ultimately, he decided he wanted to spend time with Kaji today…
So, he waited.
Kaji came down after ten minutes. He looked troubled when he noticed Sakura standing in the same spot.
“I thought you left already, huh, why are you still here?”
“O-oh, no, just…” Sakura stammered as his face turned red. Saying that he wanted to walk home with him would be hella embarrassing. That sounded like a cheesy line from a romance novel, how can he say that out loud to Kaji’s face?
“What, you forgot your umbrella? Haa, I should’ve known that was the case when you stood like a dumbass there.”
“I-I!” Did not! Sakura wanted to deny it, but his voice wouldn’t come out.
“You what?” Kaji’s patience was wearing thin. He tapped his foot on the ground in clear annoyment.
“Yes, I did, so what!”
Huh? What…? why…?
He just…lied? But…why?
He had one – he had an umbrella, right in his bag! It cost him a little over four hundred yen, was made of shitty plastic material, and would probably break if the winds were slightly stronger than usual. It might not be as sturdy as the nice umbrella Kaji was holding in his hand, but the point was – he had one. He had no reason to lie about that!
“You’re serious?!” Kaji groaned. “Fuck, at least check the forecast before you leave for school.”
He…he did! He put the umbrella in his bag because he did exactly that! In fact, he checked the forecast every morning! However, lying made him flustered so he couldn’t refute Kaji's accusations properly.
“Okay, fine, come here. I’ll take you home since you’re so forgetful, ah, for fuck’s sake.”
“Y-you don’t need to!”
“No, but I insist, so stop wasting my time and just come. Unless you really want to run in the rain, then okay, you do you.”
Sakura stared as Kaji opened his umbrella and, wordlessly, stood under it, next to him.
“You’ll get wet if you stand that far.” Kaji told him. “What’s the point then?”
Sakura moved closer, until their shoulders were brushing. His left shoulder would probably still get wet, because the umbrella wasn’t big enough for two people, but any closer than that and he’d be halfway to hugging Kaji. Ah, dammit! He didn’t need that image in his head!
Just…need to look forward. He was tempted to look at Kaji, but that would make his face even redder and he didn’t need that. He was already upset at himself for making that unnecessary lie.
“The rain is getting heavier.” Kaji commented flatly, then followed with another remark. “How did you plan on going home when it’s like this, huh?”
With my actual umbrella!
“Sometimes I wonder what’s going on inside that head of yours.”
Same here, to be honest, ugh…
“Why are you so quiet? Cat got your tongue or what?”
This conversation was going nowhere. Sakura looked quickly at Kaji, thinking to tell him to shut up, but then noticed something felt odd.
“Hey, where’s your headphones?”
“In my bag, where they won’t get wet?!” Kaji looked scandalized at the thought of taking his headphones out in the rain.
“Uh, guess that makes sense.” Sakura didn’t own headphones but he could put two and two together and realize they might get ruined because of the water.
“I swear…!” Kaji stopped to take a big breath.
Seeing Kaji annoyed was a bit funny. Since Sakura wasn’t technically the one to be blamed for his bad mood earlier, Kaji wouldn’t let it out on him. He never did, unless Sakura actually deserved it, in which case, he would take his punishment happily.
He covered his mouth with his hand to hide his laughter, but it was pointless – Kaji was busy muttering to himself.
Maybe lying was worth it if he could have a pleasant moment like this.
Sakura took back his words. Lying was a bad practice and he should never lie again about stupid things like that.
After that day, for the rest of the week, it was raining during the afternoons. And for the rest of the week, he was walking home with Kaji because he “forgot” his umbrella.
Who would believe this bullshit excuse? Sakura was pretty sure that no one would, he certainly thought there was no way a person would forget his umbrella four times in a row!
Kaji, however, didn’t bring it up. They kept their routine as it was, walking side by side under that small umbrella.
Today was a Friday, though, and that meant their routine would stop because of the weekend. Will it resume next week? Or perhaps, Kaji would forget about it…Sakura was saddened, he wanted to continue their daily walks together.
“What’s up with the traffic today?” Kaji looked at the street where the cars were driving fast despite the rain.
Sakura wanted to shrug but if he moved, his arm would no longer be protected by the umbrella, so he settled on saying dunno.
“Haa, look at the white car, that dipshit is definitely speeding – “ Kaji stopped midway because said speeding car passed next to them. Makochi’s roads were generally filled with potholes, and these turned into huge puddles due to the rain. So when the car was driven by them, it splashed water on them, right on Kaji, who was closer to the road.
“Argh! MOTHERFUCKER!” Kaji’s hold on the umbrella slipped and it fell to the side.
“H-hey!” Sakura restrained him. “Don’t tell me you’re going to run after that car!”
“No, but…!” Kaji looked at him. “That dipshit!”
“Is not here anymore and now we’re both getting wet, you idiot!”
Kaji’s face softened as he realized how dumb he looked. Since Sakura was able to calm him down, he decided it was okay to let Kaji go, and instead ran after the umbrella that was carried away by the wind.
“Fuck.” It almost flew to the road, but Sakura managed to grab it at the last second. He returned to see Kaji laughing. “What the fuck! At least help me out?!”
“But you got it figured out.” Kaji grinned. Sakura’s heart almost leapt at his wide smile, but then he reminded himself that Kaji was laughing at him.
“Then I’ll just leave with your umbrella.” He pretended to turn around and walk in the direction of his apartment.
“Hey!” Kaji grabbed his shoulder. “That’s mine!”
Sakura gave him the most unimpressed stare he could muster in response.
“Okay, I get it. Sorry?”
Ugh, Sakura was already weak against apologies, but with Kaji’s wet hair plastered to his goofy ass face? That made his brain short circuit. “S-sure, whatever.”
They were minutes away from his apartment, so if he could manage this, he could go to his bed and try to think about what was wrong with him. He was about to say goodbye to Kaji when he realized that Kaji was following him up the staircase.
“Lemme dry up.” He demanded from Sakura. “You didn’t plan on letting me go home drenched, right?”
“Fine, you can…uh, come inside…” He opened the door.
“Why is your door unlocked?” Kaji asked with concern.
“Is not like there is anything to steal.”
“SAKURA!”
“If you’re going to yell, then you can go home, drenched or not!” Sakura blocked his way to the apartment.
“Ugh, okay, not saying anything about it.” Sakura was sure he heard him saying for now under his breath, but chose to ignore it. “Damn, your place really is empty.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Sakura threw his shoes in the entrance and walked further inside. He had his towel in the closet, his only towel…he’d have to buy another few for the future, during the weekend for sure. In the meanwhile, he unwillingly took the towel with the intention of handing it to Kaji.
Only to see Kaji was already undressing in front of him, without any restraints…
“H-hey!” He averted his gaze, not wanting to look at Kaji.
“What?” Kaji snatched the towel. “If I get a cold because of it, haa…”
When was the appropriate time to look? Sakura didn’t know. His vision was firmly stuck to the floor, and wow, he didn’t know it was that dirty!
“Fuck, and my jeans as well…” Kaji sighed next to him. “You don’t happen to have a spare shirt or something?”
“Uhh, hold on.” Sakura hurried to his storage room, where he kept some of his clothes because the futon took up too much space in his closet. He recalled receiving a sweater he never bothered to wear, since it had a v-neck and he wasn’t a fan of the style, so he didn’t mind Kaji taking it off his hands. He pondered over getting a pair of jeans – he couldn’t imagine wearing wet jeans would be very comfortable – and ended up grabbing it. That meant he’d have to go do his laundry sooner than expected, but he could do that much after lying to Kaji. In a roundabout way, his lie caused Kaji to get wet…
“There.” He tossed the items to Kaji, refusing to get any closer.
“Oh, thanks.”
Fortunately, Kaji used the bathroom to change. Sakura sat on the floor and clutched at his chest. It’s been bothering him – his heart has been beating up ever since they entered his apartment and he couldn’t make it slow down. It happened before, when he invited some of his classmates over, but he was able to calm down pretty quickly back then.
That was…all Kaji’s fault…
Of course it was! Who the fuck just get underessed in front of their junior without any warning?! Did he even have a sense of shame?! He stubbornly convinced himself to let Kaji have a piece of his mind, but his thoughts were erased when Kaji exited the bathroom.
“I guess a coat would be stretching it?”
“Uh…” Sakura now remembered why he didn’t wear that sweater. The collar dipped too low…huh, what were they talking about? A coat? “No, just got this one.” He pointed at the one he was wearing. He meant to buy another one, but he put it off because he didn’t feel like going out when it was raining.
“Should’ve guessed so, well, I’ll just run back home.”
“W-wait…” Sakura jumped to his feet. That stupid sweater was useless, but he still had the scarf. He could lend it to Kaji, or – rather, give it back? It was Kaji’s after all. But…he didn’t want to do that. He supposed he got too attached to the scarf and if Kaji never returned it (or gave it again, it was his, Haruka!), he’d be sad about it. “Uh, never mind.”
“Okay?” Kaji looked at him suspiciously. “I’ll go now. See you next week.”
He didn’t see Kaji the week after. Apparently, he caught a cold and had to stay home. Somewhere deep inside, Sakura was having a crisis. That was, without any doubt, his fault! Because he didn’t want to give up on some stupid scarf? Ughhh!
He stared at the message he received from Kusumi, that one that told him they’d have to postpone their meeting for now. The message after that was his, asking what happened, and when he was informed of Kaji’s cold, the following message asked for his address.
Being cared for when he was sick was nice, so Sakura would like to do the same for Kaji, but he wasn’t sure how to go about it. He asked Nirei beforehand what things he could bring and got a lengthy list in return. Suou helped him narrow down the list, crossing off items with a quick explanation.
“He wouldn’t need medicine, I’m sure his family already has some. Oh, homemade food? Yeah…we both know you can’t do that. What else, hmm?”
A list of two pages dwindled so easily to a mere total of two items. He decided to get a sports drink and a pudding. After a quick trip to the convenience store, he was able to secure these two items, and he hurried to Kaji’s house.
All was well, until the person who opened the door wasn’t Kaji, but his mother.
AH! Sakura wanted to scream. Well, duh! Kaji was sick, how could he get to the door? What was he thinking?!
“Oh? Are you Ren’s friend?” She asked him with a kind smile, moving aside to let him in.
Ren’s friend? Ren’s friend? REN’S friend?! The words echoed in his head. Are they even friends? Fuck, he didn’t know, he thought they were close, but Kaji never mentioned anything like friends…
“Uh…” He stared at her like a deer caught in headlights.
“Ah! You’re a junior, I see!” She looked at the strip sewn to his jacket’s sleeve. “Come in!”
Sakura awkwardly took off his shoes and put them nicely in the shoe cupboard. “H-here.” He pushed the plastic bag with the items he purchased earlier into her hands. “That’s for…um…”
“Aww, how nice of you! You even got him his favorite drink!” Her smile was making Sakura feel too fuzzy, he reckoned it was time to retreat. “Ren might be sleeping, but let me show you upstairs. If he’s awake, I’m sure he’d be happy to see you.”
Sakura let himself be swayed by her, going all the way to Kaji’s room. The first thing he noticed was the sheer amount of CD’s laying around – on the desk, on the floor, basically everywhere. There was also a huge stereo system next to the desk and, the most surprising, two guitars! Sakura wondered if Kaji could actually play on them. Honestly, he’d love to see that…
But he couldn’t ignore Kaji forever. True to his mother’s words, Kaji was sleeping. His face was flushed and his mouth was slightly open, groaning and breathing heavily. He looked so sick, Sakura pitied him.
He moved closer. For all his pity, he had to admit Kaji looked…a bit cute? Huh, that’s right! He stifled a laugh. Here, the fierce and angry grade captain of 2-1 was being miserable because of a cold, that really was adorable.
One moment he was holding in the laughter, and the next, he had his phone pulled out and only realized what he was doing when he heard the snapping sound from his phone. He was horrified to find out he actually took a picture.
“Uh!” He fervently tried to delete it but his fingers were shaking too much. “Fuck!”
“Is something the matter?” Kaji’s mother popped her head into the room.
“N-no!” Sakura shook his head while hiding his phone behind his back.
“I guess he was sleeping after all. Oh, well. Sakura-kun, right? I packed a few tangerines for you, you should eat them with your family!”
Sakura was so confused that he didn’t attempt to correct her. He nodded and took the bag she handed him, that was more than a few but he couldn’t dwell on the pesky details.
“R-right, um, thanks, but I need to go now…”
“Of course, you should leave before it gets too dark!”
She walked him to the entrance, waving goodbye as he left the house, all while still smiling. If only she knew…
Sakura was angry at himself.
Lately, he’s been acting too weird. First was the scarf, which wasn’t his, but he insisted on holding onto it. It consequently got Kaji sick, so great job there Haruka, he thought bitterly to himself. Then there was the lie about the umbrella – plainly dumb and unnecessary, why did he do that?! Lying for an entire week, haa…
And lastly, was this. Taking pictures of someone who was sick – sleeping – like Sakura was some sort of creep. Yeah, maybe he could claim that others were doing the same for him all the time – taking his pictures behind his back and sending them in the group chat like it was a good way to kill time. But that was just a fucking excuse and he knew it.
There has to be more, otherwise, he didn’t know how to explain this shitty behavior.
He closed his eyes, lying comfortably on his futon, and thought about Kaji, about everything related to Kaji. About his annoyingly loud voice, about his obnoxious obsession with his headphones, and about his unhelpful remarks. But he also thought about his sturdy back, about his strong values, and most importantly, about his catchy laughter.
Ahhh, fuck!!!
He turned around and buried his face into the futon. What the fuck was that!
Like a dam bursting, his entire head was filled with thoughts about Kaji. Every small detail that he unknowingly took notice of suddenly resurfaced and showed up clearly in his mind.
“Noooo.” He screamed with exasperation into the futon. “No way!”
His love radar was going off so hard it almost rang in his head like a siren. But for the first time in his life, it was about his own feelings.
“I…like him…”
Kaji was back to school only a few days later. He called Sakura the moment he could, wishing to speak to him.
They settled on the staircase, sitting side by side, something that could give Sakura a heart attack now that he was aware of his feelings.
“Hey…” Kaji started but stopped to let out a cough. His voice still sounded like shit, very hoarse and strained. “Heard you, uh, fuck.” Now he stopped to sneeze.
“Are you sure you are okay?” Sakura automatically reached out to pat his back, but retracted his hand when he noticed what he was trying to do.
“‘m fine, will get over it soon.” Kaji said. “Anyway, ugh, just wanted to thank you. My mom said you came to visit.”
There was no way Sakura could receive his thanks in good faith, not after what he’s done. “No, you don’t need to….”
“Huh, the fuck is wrong with you?” Kaji tried to raise his voice, but it only resulted in his voice cracking and sounding silly. “You don’t need to act all humble and shit.”
“I’m not…!” Sakura huffed. The gravity of the situation hit him fully when he saw Kaji shaking his head. He wasn’t such a great guy and he did nothing that warranted Kaji’s gratitude. If anything, he was a weirdo for still having Kaji’s picture on his phone. “You can’t say that!”
“Sakura, for fuck’s sake, don’t ruin this moment.”
“But…but…I did bad things!”
“Like what?!”
“I never gave you back the scarf!”
Kaji laughed at it, but that, too, turned into a coughing fit. “Are you kidding me? I didn’t expect you to give it back, dumbass. Do I look like the type who wears scarves, anyway?”
“B-but, the umbrella…I lied about it…”
“I sure would hope so! I don’t want to believe you’re that stupid you’d forget your umbrella for so many days.”
“Huh, then why…?”
“I don’t know, I thought it was your convoluted way of asking to hang out with me?”
What the hell…?! So he knew?! Sakura narrowed his eyes. “W-when you were sick, I…I uh…actually took a picture of you.”
That made Kaji pause. He looked at Sakura skeptically. “Okay, that’s a bit weird, not going to lie, but fine. It doesn’t bother me that much, to be honest.”
“But it bothers me! ”
“Then delete it and be over it?!”
“I…don’t want to!” On the spur of the moment, Sakura blurted everything out. “Because I like you!”
“Wha – “ Kaji was shocked.
“Ah – “ Sakura was equally shocked. He hid his face behind his hands and groaned.
“Fuck, for real?” Kaji nudged him slightly.
“Don’t ask stupid questions!”
“Can you say it again?”
“NO!”
“Damn.” Kaji bumped his shoulder into Sakura’s. “Sorry, didn’t mean to uh…push you that much. I was just caught off guard because I didn’t think you’d say that first.”
“What?” Sakura finally raised his face and took a look at Kaji. He was…blushing too? “Oh…” That actually made sense, now that Sakura regained his composure, he thought that normally, people wouldn’t be okay with others taking their pictures without permission. Kaji, of all people, would probably be even more upset with such antics, yet he didn’t seem to mind if it was Sakura who did that. “Then…?”
“What else?” Kaji shyly rubbed the back of his neck while looking to the side. “Of course…I like you too, dumbass.”
“O-oh!”
“So…do you…wanna go out with me?”
Sakura nodded eagerly. “Y-yes!”
Kaji smiled at him. “I’d hug right now, but it’s probably best if I don’t, you know, since I’m still a bit sick.”
That’s completely okay, Sakura was about to say, but Kaji already grabbed his hand.
“That should do it for now.” He told Sakura as he squeezed his hand.
That…might open a whole new can of worms, but that was for later. Right now, Sakura felt too excited to think about anything else.
