The taste of it filled his lungs like helium. It made him feel at once refreshed and safe, but also a bit sad. His time in America was over. The thing he'd spent an entire year working towards, the thing his parents had sacrificed so much for, had come and gone like that, and now that it was over, he didn't quite know how to feel.
He was so happy with the experiences he'd gotten to have and the friends he'd made. He got to perform on a huge stage in a major city, he got to snog a beautiful girl on Valentine's Day, and more than anything, he'd met some of the most kind, welcoming and wonderful people he'd ever known. He found his second family in glee, and to leave it all behind to come back to his real family made him feel like the dream was over.
Time to wake up.
At least he still had Sam.
