Notes:

Hello everyone.

Welcome to Right Where You Left Me.

As always please remember I'm very dyslexic. So, things might not be spelt right and grammar might be horrible.

If you are reading on AO3, be mindful. I am still not used to wattpad so chapters may be small.

This fic does include OC's and doesn't fully follow canon. So, if you don't like that, don't read.

Not all the characters belong to me. The canon characters belong to she who must not be named (I do not believe her beliefs and I am a trans man myself. But the harry potter universe, especially my OCs and the marauders, comfort me).

The OC, Delilah Dursley, belongs to my friend. Her account is @FifiXo (same on AO3 and Wattpad).

This story is the first one I have written for this universe but my friend has written one for her Oc on wattpad called “Golden”

Triggers:
○ Death
○ Coma
○ mention of the abuse of house elves
○ mention of self-harm (only talked of)
○ torture
○ kidnapping

Now have fun with this story.

Chapter 1: Before Hogwarts: 1981 – 1992

Chapter Text

There was once a young family of 3 who lived in England. The three lived happily on their own for four years. A father, a mother and a son. But the family didn’t feel complete, not whole. So, on 24 June 1981, a new addition was added to the family. A daughter.

Now this daughter was the apple of everyone’s eyes. Everyone loved her and she fit right in. The father and mother dotted on their little girl. She was their baby. Their pride and joy. They became over protective of the child. Which is not great when you have a kid who gets a thrill out of danger and seeks it out by doing anything possible. The mother and Father have their hands full.

The son though had an incredible bond with the daughter. They may have a 4-year age gap but they were inseparable. No one could pull them apart. They did everything together. From playing Quidditch to going camping in back garden. They climbed trees. They had fun. They took day trips together. They did everything together. The son understood everything about the daughter and didn’t shut her down fir it (like their parents did to protect the girl). He understood that she couldn’t sit still for long. He understood that she could only ride a broom like a surfboard. He understands her thrill-seeking nature. He understood it all.

But this close connection caused a riff when they were finally split up.

In July 1988, the son received a letter. A letter to say he was going away for a while. A letter that invited him to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizards.

“HOGWARTS SCHOOL of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

So, after two months of shopping and of the daughter begging of him not to go or to take with him, the son went away to Hogwarts living the daughter alone with her parents. This was a very bad idea.

At first, the 8-year-old/9-year-old tried to keep her promise to her brother. She tried to play safe. Not be so annoying. Not be so danger seeking. But she couldn’t help it. She was 8/9-year-old. There was no way that was going to stick. So then came the second year.

Next the 9-year-old/10-year-old just tried avoiding her parents so they wouldn’t get over protective or mad at whatever she was doing. This didn’t even last a week. The over protective parent’s didn’t let her out of their sight for more than 20 minutes after what she did in the first week that the son went back to school for his 2nd year. She had tried swinging from her broom onto a very tall tree but she missed the branch and fell, breaking her arm. Sure the parents fixed the arm with magic but it still made them more protective.

It was when the girl was 10 (just after the son went to Hogwarts for his 3rd year) when things started going differently. The girl was fed up of her parents always watching her. She fed up and it filled her with so much range. So much rage that she couldn’t contain. It spilled out everywhere and on everyone. The only person it didn’t spill onto was the son when he came for holidays or when the floo called. The son kept her calm and helped teach her ways of staying calm.

Then finally in July 1992, after a year or so of the riff between the daughter and the parents. The daughter finally received her Hogwarts letters. She could finally leave and be independent at Hogwarts.

But first they had to do something. Something the daughter hated doing because to her it was too girly. Something the mother loved forcing her to do.

“Why do we have to go shopping? Can’t you just buy them for me, Ced?”

“Char, you know I can’t”

“But shopping....”

“I know Char. I know”

So, the family went shopping.
