Work Text:
Liam laughed softly as Henry threw his hands up in the air with exasperation, saying “I mean seriously, what’s the point in kicking me out of class but not Jake? We were both talking!”
The pair were walking home from school taking the long route to their houses as they usually did, so they could talk for longer. Henry had been rambling about some new anime he started watching, then a game he wanted to show Liam, then a bunch of other topics before it led to him talking about school. Henry did that a lot, rambling about random things, switching from topic to topic constantly. Liam wasn’t complaining, it was sort of endearing, and he liked hearing Henry’s voice.
“Well, to be fair, all Jake said was ‘yeah’, and you don’t really know how to whisper so…” He smiled as Henry rolled his eyes. “Yeah, whatever man.”
He was silent for two seconds before jumping up and speaking again, “Oh! And you wanna know what happened when I went out of class?” He didn’t wait for an answer before continuing, “So I was just sitting there, but then I got bored so I decided to walk around the school, right? Then I see one of the music freaks, the pink haired devil or whatever. And she’s beating some random kid up—“
Liam sort of zoned out after that, not really paying attention to what he was saying, but his voice. Liam had always taken a liking to the way Henry talked, and his voice as a whole. He could listen to him talk for hours, and he technically already does. He smiled softly, as he continued to stare at Henry, eyes softening.
“Dude! Are you even listening?” And suddenly he was snapped back to reality, met with Henry stopped in place, staring at him with a slightly annoyed expression.
“Yeah, obviously dude.” The redhead quickly said, shrugging as if it was clear that he had been listening, despite the fact he hadn’t heard a single word of Henry’s rant in the past 10 minutes. Henry stared at him a moment, as if he was trying to decipher what Liam was thinking, then looked ahead and kept walking. “Well anyway, after the principal finally let me leave—“
And Liam was right back to zoning out. He didn’t mean to, really. He loved listening to Henry’s stories, but sometimes he just got lost in the boys voice and his pretty face. He couldn’t help but imagine what it would be like to kiss him, blushing as he thought about it.
He quickly tried to think of something else, to get that mental image out of his head. He felt sort of guilty thinking about that, all while Henry was blissfully unaware.
But he couldn’t help it.
Henry was his best friend, he had known him since kindergarten. And he loved him. He wasn’t sure if he’d ever be able to confess, but he couldn’t deny how he felt about the boy.
“Liam, watch where you’re going!” Henry suddenly groaned, snapping the boy out of his thoughts once more. “As funny as seeing you run into a pole would be, you whining about it wouldn’t be fun.” The taller grinned and rolled his eyes, “you’d be the one to whine about that, not me.”
“Whatever you say.” Henry responded, rolling his eyes. “Now, back to what I was saying. Lia left me on open, again ! I didn’t even send her a meme this time, I just said hey!”
Lia.
Liam had nothing personal against her, but it annoyed him to no end when Henry wouldn’t stop talking about her. What’s so special about her? She’s not even that attractive, I mean Stacy’s mom is way hotter than her! Liam’s gay and can even realize that.
“Bye Liam, see you tomorrow.”
Liam suddenly realized they were at Henry’s house, and he had to finish his walk alone.
“Actually, can I come in? I seen Stacy’s mom at the store yesterday and I have to tell you about it”
“Here we go again.”
