“I fucked up,” Kris whispers hoarsely. “Noelle, I’m sorry, I-” A choking sob wracks their vocal cords, and she's standing up before she can even remotely consider her plan.
“Kris, where are you?”
“Home,” they mumble through labored breaths. “Please hurry. I’m sorry- I didn’t know who else to-”
“I’m on my way.”

“Our deal? What’s your deal?!" Milly shouted. “You show up looking like hell, barely speak, disappear for a day, and we’re all just supposed to ignore it? Like you didn’t bolt out of here the other day like your life depended on it?”
“Milly—” Hailey warned.
“No!” Milly cut her off, storming forward. “We’ve been dancing around this for days. He looks like he’s gonna throw up every time someone walks behind him! He’s flinching like we’re gonna hit him! And now we’re just supposed to play music and pretend it’s fine?!”

Summary
Hailey has been looking forward to this holiday since she was told about it a few weeks prior, but her parents left out a crucial detail: she wasn't coming. She'd have to spend the next six weeks in a strangers house stuck with her teenage son, that just so happend to be Drew. It turns out Drew is a lot more tragic than she thought, and being forced in such a close proximity to him for so long shows that maybe they don't have to be enemies... They might even end up friends.
