And if You Go, I Wanna Go With You

Summary:

His voice quieted, soft and broken, “I don't wish to die again, not without you. I need you too.”

Garroth rubbed his back, trying to comfort the other, “I promise that if you go, I will go with you."

Laurance’s eyes filled with tears, “And if I die?”

Garroth lowered his voice, speaking softly into his lover's ear, “Then I'd like to die with you.”

Work Text:

The ocean waves splashed against the beach, the scent of salty water was calming, as was the soft midnight breeze that brushed his loose blond curls out of his face. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in, he needed this.

Footsteps emerged from behind him, quietly they shuffled in the sand, as if not to disturb him, well not yet. The person shuffling against the sand stopped right behind him, not speaking a word as they knew he was aware of who they were.

“Laurance?” He spoke softly, fluttering his eyes open to gaze upon the stars.

Strong arms curled around his midsection, “Yes, my love?”

Garroth sighed, letting his body relax into his lover. He draped his arms over the others, “What are you doing out here so late? You should be resting, Darling.”

“I could say the same to you,” Garroth's head fell back, knocking lightly against his shoulder and meeting their eyes. Baby blue eyes that glistened in the moonlight met Laurance’s own dusty blue gray eyes, “Are you not tired? You have been up for hours.”

“The ocean felt as if it was calling for me. The stars look beautiful reflecting on the water tonight…” He stared at his lover, not once glancing at the stars or ocean.

Laurance cupped his boyfriend's cheek, smiling softly, “You’re making me think you're talking about me the way you're staring, Love.” He began to slowly close the gap between them.

Garroth's eyes fluttered shut as he grazed his lips over his lovers, “What if I am? You’re just as beautiful as the stars, you're the shining rays of sunlight I need on a cold day and the full moon that lights up my cloudless nights,” his voice was smooth and quiet, a near whisper that brushed against his skin and danced softly against his ears.

The brunet connected their lips briefly, “You charmer,” he mumbled against Garroth's lips, “Lady Irene above has truly blessed me with you, my love.”

Garroth chuckled lightly as he turned his body fully to meet his lover face to face. He gazed into the shorter man's tired eyes, his lips turning upward into a lovesick smile.

“Am I not meant to woo you?” Their foreheads bumped together softly as Laurance spoke, “Get you all flustered, and swoop you off your feet? Bed you and leave you wanting more, like a true Casanova?”

Garroth hummed, letting their noses rub against one another, “I believe you already did that, Darling,” he moved his hands down from where they rests against Laurance's biceps to his small waist, “and I am near certain your Casanova days are over, I am sure you have gotten too soft,” he lowered his hands to squeeze the softness that now rested on Laurance’s hips, “Kawaii-Chan’s sweets have really done a number on you.”

With a playful gasp, Laurance shoved Garroth off of him, “As if you have not fattened up yourself! Her sweets have done nothing but the same to you! If anything you’re worse than I! I have seen you sneak those extra treats.”

Garroth gasped, “I thought no one was looking.”

“You thought wrong."

They locked eyes, their gazes soft and playful. Smiles, that proved their fighting pointless, shined bright on their faces, though neither spoke, they just let the sound of ocean waves crashing against the beach fill the silence. The two men were quick to get lost in one another's eyes.

Garroth took a step forward and placed his hands back on Laurance’s hips. His smile still prominent on his face, “What would I ever do without you?”

Laurance nearly melted at the statement, “My love,” he placed his hands on Garroth’s cheeks, taking in the grounding feeling of his facial hair and soft skin, “What am I going to do without you.”

Garroth's eyebrows pinched together, confused by his lover’s statement, “I will always be with you, do not speak like that.” His grasp on Laurance’s hips tightened.

“I will not always be with you, Love,” He lowered one of his cold undead hands to rest against Garroth's neck, watching as his lover’s smile completely fell, “Though I wish I could. Would we not look beautiful buried together? The headstone engraved with ‘here lie Garroth and Laurance Zvahl’”

Garroth's eyes sadden with realization, too upset to realize Laurance had implied they'd get married, “But you are not–”

“There is too much uncertainty.” He cut Garroth off, “No one knows what will happen to me. Perhaps, I will die soon, and you will move on after visiting my grave everyday for years,,,” He pressed closer to Garroth, loosely hanging his arms around his neck, “Or possibly, we will live a happy life, get married and raise a family but you will pass and everyone we love will follow but I will age too slowly to follow all of you to your grave and I will go insane alone without all of you. Or–”

“Or we will live a happy life together and die peacefully together and we will have a shared grave to rest eternally together in,” Garroth cut him short, “Please, Darling, you are–” he paused pulling Laurance into a tight hug, “You are my everything, I need you. Please stop speaking like this.”

The brunet let himself relax into the hug, “I'm sorry,” He pressed his head into the other’s shoulder, “I am just scared.”

“I know, Dear…”

His voice quieted, soft and broken, “I do not wish to die again, not without you. I need you.”

Garroth rubbed his back, trying to comfort the other, “I promise that if you go, I will go with you.”

Laurance’s eyes filled with tears, “And if I die?”

Garroth lowered his voice, speaking softly into his lover's ear, “Then I would like to die with you.”

They became silent again. Quiet as they held each other in their arms. A chilled ocean breeze hit them as they pulled ever so slightly away to take in the sight of one another. Laurance’s wet eyes took in the sight of Garroth's red freckled cheeks.

Laurance smiled at him, despair still deep in his dim blue eyes, “Do you believe we are together in every universe?”

“I would like to believe so.” Garroth connected their foreheads, “I could not imagine a world without you by my side.”

“You complete me.”

Their lips connected, so lovingly it was sickly sweet. Laurance placed his hands in his lover's curly hair as he basked in the kiss. Garroth’s grip on his was tight as he slowly broke away.

“I can not believe I was afraid of you…”

Another kiss was placed on Laurance’s lips before he could get a word out. The fingers that laced between Garroth's hair curled loosely as Laurence lightly chuckled.

Ever so slowly Laurance puller away, “I will marry you one day”

He watched as Garroth sputtered and his face turned red, “Laurance!”

“You cannot just say that!”

“Well it is too late for that now, is it not?” he slid his arms forward and took the blond's face into his hands, “But wouldn't you sound so pretty with my last name, love? Garroth Zvahl.” The name glided smoothly across his tongue, flustering Garroth even more.

“I-I-I- well–” Garroth stopped himself and looked away, “Yes, it sounds nice.”

Laurance turned Garroth's head back to face him, “I love you.”

Garroth's face reddened even more, “I-I-I-” He paused, taking a breath in, “I love you, too.”

The shorter's face softened, “I will love you past the grave.”

Garroth placed a hand over Laurance's, “And I will do the same.”

Laurance moved his hands from his lover's face. He took the taller man's hands into his own, “When you die, I will die with you and I promise that you and I will continue on past this lifetime together forever.” He paused to kiss the back of Garroth's hand, “Through each and every universe you are mine and I am yours. In no universe are you not mine and I am not yours.”

Garroth’s face flushed yet again, “I feel as though we are running in circles, love.”

“I would chase you, even if it meant I would never catch you.”

The blond turned away, “Laurance, stop it.”

“Why should I?” The brunet linked their hands together, “Let me tell you how much I love you.”

Garroth squeezed his lover's hands, “Tell me on our way back home. We need to get some rest…”
