Summary
Fyodor has always felt alone. Even in a group of people who somewhat entertain him, he’s not satisfied; he is still bored, he still feels like he is misunderstood or perhaps too complex to be understood by someone other than himself. The first time this feeling changed was the day he began his chess club activity. He and one other boy, Dazai, are the only members. They have a small chat as they play chess. A feeling of loathing, respect, and irritation festers within them as they grow more engrossed with the other person.
