Chapter Text
Everything happened so quickly, it was all a blur, almost dreamlike, and when I opened my eyes there I saw the most wondrous horrible sight anyone could imagine.
A deep, deep bow is all I could offer my crowd. Laughing in mirthless mania is all I could do.
When I tried to wander through the now unfamiliar halls I only wound back up in the centre of all the viscera and blood that was spilled for what had seemed like such a long time ago.
That's when I fell to my knees, my mind racing; a thousand words a second. Songs, ballads… and that beautiful melody… it still crawled and scratched at the back of my mind, I… Couldn’t help but laugh. What else to do but laugh? If none were watching anymore then someone needed to! Hah… hahaa… hmhm… the laughter didn’t stop, I don’t think it ever did, if anything, it sounded more like that melody.
Though I couldn’t quite remember the same sound any longer… But-
This is where I died…
Where I was supposed to die…
Afterall, when a long spear strikes through you, what is one to do?
And what was a Jester without his court?
What was a useless, broken, and used Jester good for anyways?
I couldn’t even feel the pain when I sliced through my own flesh and bone…
I found it all amusing!
It was only then when the continual loud thrumming in my mind quieted.
It was only when my body finally collapsed did I realise just how exhausted I was.
When the heavy front hall door opened followed by loud heavy steps, I knew this was it. My time here was over.
My laughter turned to sobs, I wanted to die so bad I don’t want to die. what good was I anyways?
Those slow agonizing moments as the heavy steps came closer and closer… I knew there was nothing I could do but give into my own madness.
I didn’t deserve to plead for my life. I don’t want to die. Yet such uncouth words came from my own trembling lips.
“P… please… please… please… I don’t want to die… I don’t…” each word, quieter than the last. No one was going to help me… I didn’t deserve such pity, such kindness…
This was where I died.
The towering man above me… Beautiful in his own golden right, brought his great sword close. How hefty it must’ve been, and how lucky this poor jester must be to be granted the mercy of the sword.
I never did notice my sobs turn back into laughter.
But that’s when he brought his sword down, and in a second everything went black.
…
Well.
That was when I died…
…
But then I woke up.
