In the Darkest Dungeon universe, Reynauld inherited a desolate land, the Estate, that was victim of an eldritch corruption, caused by the impish reaserches of his Ancestor... With lots of efforts and heroes giving their lives, Reynauld could beat the Heart of Darkeness and bring back the light into the Hamlet and the whole Estate...
But as the Heart of Darkness died, the Ancestor made a dreadful prediction: A new evil will come, and its nickname is "The Darkest Guide".
But the Darkest Guide is no other than Marle Clef de Nuit, the out of rules goddess coming from the Dungeons and Dragons universe... And her evil look got drawn onto the Darkest Dungeon universe by the corruption and darkness that was spreading... She waited the moment the Heart of Darkness died to elaborate a plan to conquer and turn the world into a lab where she could use humans to test her traps, poisons and diseases...
With the help of the Mad Sliceress and the Stresskin, she's determined to take that world for herself!
And it seems she came prepared... The Ancestor was right, a new evil was in the Estate...

“That would likely be my fate, as it is. I would rather spend the last of my days with my sword in my hands.”
Sarmenti wonders how long that resolve will last. The thought leaves a sour taste in his mouth. “Suit yourself, then,” he says with a shrug. “But you can’t say I didn’t warn you.”
