Chapter Text
Osha sat on the pier, her legs dangling over the water. It had only been three days since Brendok. Only three days. It felt like weeks. She spent the last three days numb, and absent. She ate, slept, and then came back to the pier. She liked the water, it was peaceful. It calmed her mind, which was exactly what she needed right now. It was different than any planet she had ever seen before. The terrain was harsh and violent but mixed with the freeness of the ocean it felt balanced. She could use a little more balance in her life, she thought.
Mae would’ve been on coruscant by now, probably being interrogated for answers she didn’t have. And Sol, Sol was dead. He was dead by Osha’s own hands. Her hands felt filthy, covered in blood that didn't exist. She never even put a hand on him, other than the invisible hand of the force of course.
She hadn’t been able to use the force since that night. It was like she was blocked off again. She tried lifting small objects or feeling Qimir’s force essence. Neither worked. She briefly considered using Qimir’s helmet again, but he’d put it away somewhere and Osha couldn’t find it.
Qimir didn’t try to train her. How could he if she couldn’t use the force anymore? She waited for when he would make her train, and force her to use the force, but he never did. He made sure she ate and slept. He seemed to understand her, in a way Osha didn’t yet understand herself.
Osha glanced toward the cave. Qimir stood leaning against the rocky wall, watching her. He seemed to do that a lot. She wanted to understand him. Osha craved to know what he saw in her, that no one else had. She turned her head back to the water and watched the waves ebb and flow. When she looked back at Qimir, he was gone.
…
She didn’t know how long she had sat at the pier when Qimir rested a hand on her shoulder.
In his other hand, he held a bowl of stew toward her. “You need to eat.” He said simply. Osha reached out for the bowl and grabbed it. Her fingers lingered over his for a second too long.
“Thank you.” As she took a spoonful, her stomach grumbled. She never realized just how hungry she was until Qimir brought her food.
He took in a deep breath. “You need to keep your strength up if I’m going to train you.” He started to turn around.
“I’m not the greatest trainee am I?” Osha laughed, mostly to herself.
“You went through something traumatic. You need time to recover. I have time. I can wait for whenever you’re ready.” And he walked away.
She couldn’t explain it but she felt this constant pull to him. She wondered if he felt the same. She didn’t understand the care he gave her. He truly seemed to want the best for her. It had been a long time since she found someone who took care of her this way.
The last was Sol. She turned her head toward the water, and closed her eyes listening to sounds of the waves. She tried to block the memories of her former master from her mind. She had a new life now. She’d learn to forget the old one. Eventually.
