“That’ll never work on me,” her opponent sneers at her when she sees the Kunai in her hand, but Sakura doesn’t hesitate. She knows this is her only chance to get herself free and return to the fight.
To protect her teammates and Lee, who went out of his way to risk himself to protect her.
She couldn’t stand by anymore.
She had to fight. To do something to ensure that her friends were not harmed anymore.
“What are you talking about?” she sneered back, moving the Kunai toward her hair. If she could just cut the thread that was being used to hold her down, then she could fight again. She would be able to protect her teammates from a danger they couldn’t fight against themselves.
As the kunai began cutting through her hair, separating her from her opponent, she happened to glance behind her.
She’s resolved to cut her hair in order to free herself, but now that she was in the midst of doing just that she’d come up with another plan. Spotted another opening that would gain her the freedom she sought just as quickly.
Redirecting the kunai, she used the opening that was granted to her by her Opponents surprise when she began cutting her hair and shoved the kunai directly into her leg. Just below the knee, and right through some bone judging by the crack she felt vibrating through the kunai.
A blood curdling scream echoed through the forest, and soon after the hand that had been gripping her hair released.
“Kin!” her closest teammate called out, his hand coming up to grab hold of the object on his arm. Before he could attack though, Sakura pulled the Kunai out of the girl's leg and launched it toward him. There was no hope that it would hit its mark, but Sakura didn’t need it to.
As he focused on blocking the kunai and his teammate scrambled to put pressure on her new leg wound, Sakura lunged forward and grabbed a fist full of his hair, just as his teammate had done to her. As the third teammate turned to attack, she shoved her new meat shield in front of herself and ducked.
“You’re going to lose,” Sakura tightened her grip at the taunt. “it’s one against three. You have no hope.”
She didn’t. she knew that better than any of them.
Winning wasn’t the goal, though. Protecting Naruto, Sasuke, and Lee was and if the cost of achieving that goal was her life, it was a payment she was willing to make.
“Whoever taught you how to count really sucks,” hearing a familiar voice she looked up to see Ino standing proudly on the cliff overlooking them with Shikamaru and Choji behind her. “The way I see it, it’s four against three.”
“Ino…”
“Thank me later, billboard brow,” Ino grinned down at her. “Once we show these losers who’s boss.”
Yanking backward on the boy's hair, Sakura pulled him behind her and released her grip. As she did, she saw a shadow slithering through the ground until it connected with his, cementing him in his place.
“What’s going on?” He demanded.
“One down, now time for number two,” connecting her hands, Ino peered through them at her target. “Mind transfer jutsu!” Choji caught her as her body fell, and behind her Sakura could hear the enemy shinobi, Kin, beginning to move.
“Gross,” she spun her head around and stared at the girl who’d been holding her by the hair just a short while ago. “You really did a number on this leg, Billboard brows.”
“Sorry,” sticking her tongue out she grinned, not at all apologetic for her actions. “It was that or the hair, and I actually like my hair.”
“Still one left,” Ino pointed toward the last member of the Sound ninja’s team who looked like he was calculating his next move. “You want to take the shot, or should I?”
“He wants to kill Sasuke-Kun,” it wasn’t necessary information, but Sakura couldn’t help but enjoy the way Kin’s eyes narrowed into a steely gaze.
“Both of us it is,” Ino responded through Kin’s mouth. “Let’s bury him.”
Turning back to the opponent, Sakura nodded. “Let’s see how you like being team up on,” raising her hands, she slammed her left fist into her right palm. “Cha! I’m going to break every bone in your body for threatening my team!”
