    Obi-Wan had only figured it out recently, while he’d been trapped with Anakin during a siege on a far-flung planet. His cough had been getting worse, but Obi-Wan had thought that Anakin had merely ignored his instructions to see a medic about it—until, while discussing their (unideal) odds of survival late one night with their backs pressed to each other to watch for a surprise droid attack, Anakin had hacked and coughed until he seemed so clogged he would choke and Obi-Wan grabbed him in some vain attempt to keep his former Padawan alive long enough to rendezvous with the 501st.
