"You’ll do fine, my doll." Alastor said, grinning like he usually does.
’That smug, sexy grin. I wish I could kiss it off.’ Velvette thought with a pout. 'Stupid dress.' Looking down at the dress that Alastor put her in. It's just supposed to impress his friend, and that's it.
"And quit pouting! It’s unbecoming of a lady." Alastor said, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Sorry, Al." Velvette said, wrapping her arms around his. "Why do we have to walk again, when you could just teleport us?" She asked.
Alastor sighed. "Because walking is good for you." He answered.
"But we're dead." Velvette grinned, being a smartass.
"Maybe because I like walking." Alastor said, snapping his head to hers. She could hear the static coming out of him.
"Okay, sorry." Velvette said sheepishly. Sure, Alastor's attitude is hot, but it can also be terrifying. She knows not to push his buttons too much.
"Hm." Was all Alastor said. They just continued walking until they arrived at the entrance of Cannibal Town.
It's... nice. For a town made entirely of cannibals. Not like the savagery that Vox has always described the town as. Sure, she sometimes sees the town through social media, but most of the time, it's through a selfie, and the person is smiling, but covered in blood, with a disembodied limb.
She couldn't help but feel a little scared when she saw a group of women eating, and as a defense, she hugged her arms tighter around Alastor's arm.
It didn't help a bit when the women saw Alastor and waved and shouted "Hi Alastor!" in really lovey-dovey voices. She recognized the gazes that they gave Alastor, Vox gave him the same kind, while Valentino did it to Vox.
"Hello, ladies." Velvette couldn't help but feel a ping of jealousy when she heard Alastor say that, as well as wave to them. "Lovely day for a stroll with my partner."
That didn't go well with them, because as soon as Alastor turned his head, the group glared at Velvette. At least until Alastor looked back at them baring his teeth like he usually did when he was mad. He hates it when Velvette gets mistreated, so he naturally gets upset whenever someone glares at her the wrong way. She finds it cute that he's so protective of her. The first time that it happened was before they were dating, and it caused Velvette to blush up a storm for the rest of the day.
She only smiled as she waved goodbye to the group of ladies, who only waved back out of fear of Alastor.
Alastor just hummed a tune, like he usually does. She loves his humming, it's soothing to her. He first did it during their first date, and she couldn't help but feel her anxiety about the date and the possibility of it not ending well go away, and it didn't, as they got to where they are now.
"We're here." She heard Alastor say, and she looked up to see a big building, really nice looking, too, with a sign saying "Rosie's Emporium" written on it.
"Your friend owns this place?" Velvette asked, unsure of what to do here. She's seen Rosie, but only during overlord meetings, and she never made it a point to talk with her. Velvette didn't even know that she was the overlord who ran Cannibal Town until Alastor told her.
"Indeed she does, my deer." He said, holding the door open for her.
When she walked in, she couldn't help but admire the decor of the place. 'Rosie has good taste, I'll give her that.' She thought, admiring the beauty of the older decor that was around the building.
"Oh my stars, do my eyes deceive me?" Velvette turned her head and saw Rosie, there in her red outfit, walking over to the two of them. "Alastor? Alastor, with a lady on his arm, no less!"
Velvette felt Alastor let go of her arms to hug Rosie, and then came a deeper pang of jealousy that she didn't think about having. 'Christ, I feel like Vox!' She thought, looking at how carefree Alastor was with Rosie touching him. She remembers the first few times that she tried initiating contact like that with Alastor, and it didn't really end as she'd hoped. But seeing him being so... careless with Rosie, made her feel a bit envious of their relationship.
"C'mon, Alastor! How rude is it to not introduce us? I wanna meet the woman that you've told me all about." Rosie exclaimed.
Velvette couldn't help but be confused, and it showed, as Rosie smacked Alastor's arm. "She doesn't know that you talk about her?"
Alastor rubbed his arm sheepishly, "I never had a good time to explain it."
Rosie accepted that answer with a smug "Hm." then said, "Now introduce us, why don't you?"
Alastor nodded while going back to Velvette's side. "Velvette, this is Rosie," He said while Rosie did a little curtsy, "the most darling, delightful, and dangerous Overlord this side of the Pentagram!" He continued, then looked at Velvette, "Apart from you, of course."
That made Velvette so happy. She knew that her face blushed up a storm, but she didn't care. She was happy to receive such a compliment while meeting a friend that she was jealous of.
"Oh, always such a charmer!" Rosie said.
Velvette couldn't help but nod. "He is, isn't he?" Velvette said, looking at Rosie, "He's always so charming."
Alastor rolled his eyes, then looked at Velvette. "Please don't encourage her, my dear."
Velvette giggled.
Then, Alastor said, "This is Velvette, the backbone of the Vee's, the Overlord that has taken over that social media thing by storm, and my partner."
Velvette couldn't help but beam with the praise that Alastor had given, and neither could Rosie. "Oh, Alastor, I'm so glad that you finally found a gal that could stand all your quirks." Rosie said, then turned to Velvette while Alastor gasped. "Y'know, for the longest time, I thought that he was an ace?"
That made Alastor tilt his head in confusion but made Velvette laugh.
That laugh was cut out when Rosie poked Velvette's stomach. "You are so skinny. Alastor, do you feed this one enough? Do you want some ribs? Actually, you're small, so do you want some pinkies?"
Velvette was quite nervous at that. "N-no thanks." She really hoped that Rosie wasn't offended by that.
Rosie just smiled even more. "Oh, such good manners on this one. Alastor, you could learn a lot from this one. Come, sit down, you two." Rosie said, pushing Velvette towards two chairs, one that Rosie pushed Velvette into, and one that she sat on. "So, what's it like to be Alastor's girlfriend?!" She asked excitedly.
That last comment made Alastor growl, which Velvette heard. He never liked using the terms 'boyfriend' and 'girlfriend', he said that they were 'too informal' for what they were, which Velvette understood, but she liked using them when she was thinking to herself, or thinking about him.
"Actually, I have some business to attend to around town, my dear." Alastor said, looking at Velvette. "Are you two fine with keeping each other company for at least half an hour?"
"Y-yeah, of course, Al." Velvette said, really wishing that he didn't have to leave, but also didn't want to hurt his or Rosie's feelings.
"Of course, Alastor. Me and Velvette are fine with some gal time! Have fun." Rosie said, waving goodbye.
"Excellent. See you soon, my dear." Alastor then kissed Velvette's cheek before leaving.
There was an awkward silence for a few seconds, until Alastor was out of sight. That's when Rosie's face grew serious.
"So, what are your intentions with Alastor?" Rosie asked, with a frown. Velvette was shocked by the tone in her voice, as well as what she just said.
"Wh-what?" Velvette asked.
Rosie merely snarled. "Are you spying on Alastor for Vox? That limp-dicked box can't handle rejection."
Velvette instantly grew serious. "No, of course not! I like Alastor, and I hate the way that Vox talks about him, like an obsessed high school crush that never understood the meaning of the word 'no'. I love the way that Alastor treats me, while Vox treats me like garbage."
That seemed to calm Rosie down a bit but then came her next question. "Why are you with the Vee's anyway?"
Velvette couldn't help but shudder. "Honestly, even I don't know. I hate the way that Vox treats me, and I especially hate the way that Val treats Angel Dust. I guess it's because it was the fastest way to learn about the Radio Demon that I heard so much about when I first came to Hell, but when I got close to Alastor, there was an obvious tension between us when I said that I worked with the Vee's, but that didn't stop Alastor from treating me with the respect that I didn't get from the other two." Velvette said, feeling a weight being lifted off her shoulders as she continued speaking. It was the truth, all of it.
"Do you love him?" Rosie asked quietly.
"Yes." Velvette said without a single thought. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure I do."
Rosie nodded, accepting that answer.
"Rosie?" Rosie looked at her, wondering what she had to say. "Don't tell Alastor, but... I'm planning on leaving the Vee's soon."
"Your secret is safe with me." Rosie said, getting out of her chair. "I believe that Alastor will be most excited hearing that from you."
That made Velvette smile.
"But if you ever break his heart," Rosie said in a low serious tone, "This emporium will be having a special in doll meat. Understand?"
Velvette quickly nodded, not wanting to get eaten.
"Well, then," Rosie said, back to her smiling demeanor. "You and I are going to get along great!"
"Glad to hear it." Alastor said, right by the door. Velvette ran to the door to hug him. Alastor gave Rosie a look of confusion, while Rosie just gave him two thumbs up and went back to behind the counter.
As the two walked out, Alastor couldn't help but ask, "So, what do you think of Rosie, my dear?"
Velvette, looking back at Rosie through the glass, said "I like her. I can see why you two are such great friends."
Alastor smiled happily to that. Velvette was still looking at Rosie, who waved at her through the glass. Velvette waved back to her.
While leaving Cannibal Town, she couldn't help but yelp as Alastor took her to an alley just outside the premises, and pinned her to a building.
"Since you two got along so well," Alastor said, kissing her, "I figured that you deserved a little... reward."
Velvette couldn't help but smile into the kiss that Alastor gave her, both completely unaware of the camera above them, trying to take good pictures for Vox, but coming out so distorted that nobody could see Velvette in them.
