Work Text:
When Aizawa woke up today he instantly knew that something was going to happen.
So he drank his favourite coffee just to make the day more bearable. But the cats didn't even try to push the mug over… suspicious.
When he arrived in the teachers office to prepare his lessons, Yagi wasn't being his usual irritable self and when asked he just smiled and drank his tea in silence.
Kayama didn't bother Aizawa about him being a dad, Yamada didn't joke about Shinsou being a mini him, Kan didn't spout some 1-B supremacy nonsense and Kurose left a cat plushie on his desk for some reason.
You might think that this was a really nice day for Aizawa but it wasn’t. The fact that everything was so good was precisely why. He learned a long time ago to trust his gut feelings and it was screaming that something was going to happen.
It happened when he walked into his class and saw the entirety of 1-A just sitting there, waiting for him. Actually scratch that, it wasn't the entirety of 1-A because sitting behind Midoriya was Shinsou.
He could already feel the existential dread and took a few seconds to decide whether or not he wanted to actually kick that hornet's nest before remembering that he had to due to his obligations as a teacher.
"Yaoyorozu, where is Mineta?" He asked in a way that every student in the room could tell just how done he was.
Yaoyorozu stood up from her seat. Her face is calm, collected, absolutely sure that whatever she was about to say was 100% the truth.
"Aizawa-sensei, what are you talking about?"
Aizawa looked at the girl in absolute confusion and was wondering if it was too late to give Nedzu his resignation letter. Eventually Iida stood up and started repeatedly chopping his arms as he explained.
"Yaoyorozu-san is right, Aizawa-sensei! We don't have and never had a student called Mineta in this class!"
As he looked around the class he noticed all of them staring at him in confusion and concern. It was at this moment that he wanted to slam his head into the wall.
He took a deep breath and simply decided that today was not a day on which he would deal with his hellions and left the room.

Shinsou had absolutely no idea what the fuck he was roped into when the 1-A kids kidnapped him from the 1-C dorms. He looked back to his class president, Fujikawa Raiden, in hopes of getting help only to see them having a smug face and shouting for him to have fun with the hero kids. Fucking traitor.
So here he was, at 6 in the morning while the 1-A kids somehow moved his stuff into a seemingly empty room without misplacing anything. Everything was the same as his room at the 1-C dorms.
"Isn't this the room that belonged to that small purple ball kid?" He asked as he watched gravity girl, Uraraka if he remembered correctly, move his desk into the corner. When she turned to him she was frowning and slightly tilted her head.
"What are you talking about Shinsou-kun? This room has always belonged to you."
And if that isn't something weird to tell him while she and bone breaker, Midori something something, were hauling his furniture into the room.
"You literally just kidnapped me from the 1-C dorms." Shinsou said. What the fuck was 1-A pulling? He had trust issues and wasn't entirely sure about them but he didn't take them as the type to give him false hope.
But if it was false hope they wouldn't move his furniture from the other side of the campus. They also didn't seem to have a reason to kick one of their own out their ranks for the kid with a villain's quirk.
"Yeah, you were hanging out with the Gen Ed kids and we needed you back at the dorms because you wanted to move your furniture around, remember?"
"What"
Shinsou watched as Iida threw a hero course uniform at him. How did they know what size he wears? Before telling him to hurry up unless he wanted to miss Bakugou's cooking.
After standing in the hallway for a few seconds he decided that he might as well go with whatever is going on. He changed his blazer - no he didn't question how they got his measurements for a perfectly fitting hero course uniform with small adjustments that he preferred - and headed downstairs.
There everyone was enjoying Bakugou's cooking. As he joined them they acted like he had always been in the class and Shinsou couldn't decide if this was a good or bad sign.
In the end Jirou, Kaminari, Shouji, Tokoyami and Hagakure took it upon themselves to get him to class. He tried asking them if they were sure about letting him into the class but they acted just as confused as the others.
They even walked past Kayama-sensei and when she didn't say a word about him wearing the hero course uniform or how he should be on his way to 1-C. All in all Shinsou was starting to genuinely doubt himself.
When they arrived in the classroom it seemed like everything was relatively normal. Until Jirou suddenly stood up and everyone else in the room shut up. Shinsou had absolutely no idea what was going on but his fellow purple haired classmate - was he now a member of 1-A? - just sat back down and nobody started talking again.
Then Aizawa-sensei walked in and everyone else just started at the teacher in silence and followed him with their eyes. He could see Aizawa debating to slam his head into the wall before asking Yaoyorozu about Mineta.
So Shinsou wasn't going crazy and there was a purple student whose place he took for some reason. But Yaoyorozu and Iida where vehement that this Mineta didn't exist.
Eventually 1-A's homeroom teacher just walked out of the room. Shinsou was debating to follow him but Kaminari stopped him by telling him that they could just take their homeroom period to prepare for some English test that Yamada-sensei had planned.
At this point Shinsou gave up and surrendered himself to his fate. At least he was in the hero course now.

The truth is that Mineta Minoru - much to the dismay of every student that was aware of his being - does exist. As the child of a high ranking commission member, who was partially in charge of keeping Nedzu on a leash - it was an imaginary one that was basically in pieces and barely recognisable as one - he had protection of some sort.
This combined with the lack of evidence and no one coming forward left the teachers with no choice but to let him in the hero course.
Considering that 1-A had become a target of the League multiple times and that moving him into a different course could endanger other students made it even harder to suspend or expel any students of 1-A.
That didn't mean that they didn't face any consequences. They were students of UA and quickly caught onto these types of things. So in true 1-A fashion they took things into their own hands.
They had multiple systems for various things across all sorts of groups. One of them was the so-called Mineta-meter. It was created by the girls of 1-A after, maybe or maybe not so surprisingly, Yaoyorozu's patience was hanging by a thread.
Some had already started collecting evidence against Mineta after the cheerleader incident. But after Bakugou's kidnapping, which was when almost all of their systems were implemented, they all collectively started doing it.
And just a few days ago they had enough. After having caught him in Uraraka's room and her attempting to float him into the sun, only for Tsu to catch him because "Death is too merciful of an end for him, Ocha-chan"
They decided to put all of their evidence together and asked some other girls in their year if they had anything to add.
Together they walked to Kayama-sensei's office and explained the situation. The heroine was furious and promised her students that they wouldn't have to worry about Mineta anymore.
By pure coincidence Yagi witnessed as Kayama was planning the downfall of Mineta and after skipping through the evidence offered his help to her.
In the span of mere hours, Mineta Minoru was expelled from the school and his parents, who were commission workers, were moving into a witness protection program that moved them to Europe.
This is the official story at least. Only the ones responsible and 1-A will know what actually happened to them.
Meanwhile after the girls returned to the class they called in an emergency class meeting, that Mineta was naturally excluded from, and told everyone the news.
So the class started brainstorming ideas on what to do now that Mineta's demise was guaranteed.
"Ey nerd," Bakugou called out to a muttering Midoriya who surprisingly enough stopped his mutterstorm to turn to his childhood friend turned bully turned rival-something.
"There is no war in Ba Sing Se."
Most people in the room were simply confused at this seemingly random sentence but you could see a few of them visibly brighten up.
"Hold on, you two know Avatar: The Last Airbender!?" Sero and Hagakure called out at the same time before turning to each other in surprise.
The room was filled with silence for a few seconds before Yaoyorozu broke it. "Could you perhaps fill us in on what Avatar The Last Airbender is?" The rest of the class who were just as confused as Yaoyorozu nodded in agreement.
"It's a really old animated series. Since it's so old it's kinda hard to find anyone else who watched it though." Midoriya explained with a small smile on his face.
Kaminari slightly tilted his head as he asked a question. "So 'There is no war in Ba Sing Se' is a reference to it?" Which was answered by Bakugou, Midoriya, Sero, Hagakure, Shouji and Tokoyami simultaneously nodding.
Shouji explained that in the show there was a war that had been going on for 100 years. Ba Sing Se was isolated from the war and the people controlling the city continued to be willfully ignorant of it.
"There is no war in Ba Sing Se,'' is a phrase they used to basically gaslight people into denying the existence of the war." He finished.
"So Bakugou is suggesting that we just act like Mineta never existed?" Kaminari asked while trying to wrap his head around that thought.
"Yes" multiple people in the room called out and many more agreed by nodding their heads.
Everyone took a few seconds to think about it and ultimately it was the chaos of watching Aizawa-sensei and Shinsou be so confused that kept it going.
Asking Yagi and Kayama about how far they were going to take it especially helped the ones with a guilty consciousness.
Destroying Mineta's furniture was probably the highlight for the girls. They had a small bonfire on the weekend that all the girls were invited to as they burned what they could from his furniture.
In the end "There is no Mineta Minoru at UA" became a phrase that still haunts both Aizawa and Shinsou because they could swear that there was.
