“Guys!” Oikawa bellowed, “I have a great idea!”
The now-retired third years all turned to look at their captain, though now that they were done with sports for the season, he wasn’t really their captain. “I have a bad feeling about this,” Hanamaki stage-whispered to Matsukawa.
“No, it’s good,” Oikawa insisted. “I think we should make a tiktok!”
“You have an idea for this tiktok?” Matsukawa asked, lounging comfortably on the couch with Hanamaki.
“Yes!” Oikawa stood up and made his way over to their bar set up, arranging the mixers and the alcohol together before setting his phone down leaning against a stack of books. In front of the camera he set a shaker. When he turned to look at his friends they were all watching him with varying degrees of skepticism. “We’re gonna make a drink! But no one can know what the person before them put in!”
“We’re going to end up with a disgusting drink,” Iwaizumi pointed out.
“Shush. It’s been decided. Everyone out, we’ll come in one at a time.”
The video begins with Matsukawa. “Hey, my name’s Matsukawa,” he looked off screen to where the selection of mixers was. “If I’ve learned anything the last three years of volleyball, it’s that I don’t trust them,” he pulled the lemonade into frame and opened it, “so I’m putting in lemonade.”
The next person walks in. “Hi, I’m Heisuke,” he introduces, his eyes roaming over the mixers. “I’m going to put in Popi because I feel like Oikawa is gonna put in a lot of liquor. Trying to play it safe. My mom will kill me if I come home drunk.” He set the can down in front of the camera and popped the top, pouring in a decent amount before exiting stage left.
Hanamaki rocked up already holding a bottle of orange juice, a lazy smile on his face. “Yo, Hanamaki here, I’m gonna put in orange juice because uh, Iwaizumi dumped Oikawa and I have a feeling Oikawa is trying to go hard tonight. I’m not gonna let that happen.” He dumped in the half a bottle of orange juice in his hands and exited frame.
“Hey, uh, my name’s Iwaizumi.” He looked over the mixers and picked up the half bottle of lemonade. “I’m gonna put in lemonade because I uh, I dumped Oikawa. Again.” He dumped the last of the lemonade bottle into the mixer and moved on.
“My name is Motomu,” the next person started, eyes roaming over the options. He picked up a can of sprite. “I’m putting in Sprite because I feel like everyone else is putting in liquor.”
The next person enters the screen and wrinkles his nose at the options, finally deciding on the half-gone can of Popi. “My name is Kaneo. I’m gonna put in Popi because… I’m kind of scared of Oikawa.” He dumps in the rest of the can and moves out of frame.
Oikawa enters the frame next, reaching immediately for the tall clear bottle. “Hey guys, It’s Oikawa, it’s been a long ass week. So,” as he spoke Oikawa worked the seal off the bottle, “we’re gonna do some Everclear.” He gets the bottle open and sniffs it before gagging and nodding. “Yeah, that’ll do,” he muttered, pouring about a third of the bottle into the mixer, pausing, then adding a little more.”
The scene cuts to Matsukawa putting the lid on the shaker and giving it a shake, but it’s so full it nearly bursts. “What the fuck?” He grumbles.
The scene cuts again to everyone with their shot glasses. “Cheers!” Oikawa yells, everyone throwing back their drink and immediately coughing, hacking, or spitting it out. In the background someone is heard saying, “holy Everclear.”
“Hey,” Yuda whispered, getting Matsukawa’s attention. “Why did Iwaizumi break up with Oikawa?”
“Oh,” Matsukawa laughed, “because they went to a haunted house together and Oikawa accidently punched one of the scare actors, then blamed it on Iwaizumi so he’s banned for life.”
Hanamaki rolled over from where he was leaning with his back against Matsukawa’s chest. “Last time he broke up with him it was because Oikawa got drunk while they were out at a club and he accidently wrapped his arms around the wrong spikey-haired bastard.”
Matsukawa chuckled and grinned, looking back at Hanamaki. “And before that it was because he was flirting with his fans.”
“Oh, and before that it was because Oikawa changed his number and forgot to tell Iwaizumi and Iwaizumi spent an entire day texting the wrong number trying to get a hold of Oikawa.”
Yuda hummed, taking a sip of his drink, which was not mixed with Everclear. “So… they’re just a disaster.”
“They lack communication,” Matsukawa said, “and I think Oikawa just got so used to jumping from person to person that he forgets how to be in an actual, serious, committed relationship.”
“They’ll figure it out,” Hanamaki said, laughing and nuzzling into the crook of Matsukawa’s neck. “They’ve already disappeared so they’re probably fucking in your bed.”
“What!?” Yuda screeched.
