He turns, crossing his bulking arms in front of his chest, looking down at me.
“You’re my wife now. I applied for you, you were delivered to me. You live here now, under my roof. I own you.” He says so matter-of-factly, like it’s the most normal thing to be told you’re somebody else’s property.
