Work Text:
When Nico had been told that the sensation and excitement of a first kiss could often be electrifying, he hadn’t thought about taking it literally. It’s nothing but a figure out speech after all, one that explains a lot of excited emotions inside of you. It’s just an easier way to express almost overwhelming happy emotions of finally kissing someone you have probably loved and pined after for a long time. Electricity as a metaphor was an easy way to explain everything and put the emotions into words. It’s why the metaphor worked so well, because from what he had been told, the sensations do feel electric.
In his case though, his first kiss had actually been electrifying.
In the literal sense, that is, as he had gotten a mild electric shock running through his entire body when he least expected it. A mild shock, yet one strong enough to make him stand completely still as he felt the electricity rush through his body, as every hair on his body seemed to stand up as he felt the slight sting of it, and how his arms were involuntarily wiggling afterwards, the sensation of leftover electricity leaving his body a split second after still lingering in his joints, even after pulling away at the end of the kiss.
It had happened so quickly, and as a complete surprise.
And honestly, it had truly heightened the experience of his first kiss, somehow he had, even if he couldn’t exactly describe it. Well, mostly, it was intense, as the excitement of finally getting to kiss someone mixed with literal electricity going through his veins, causing an overwhelming tension that had truly taken him off guard. The sensation of the electricity had overpowered the actual emotions, making his mind feel like he was short circuiting, not prepared at all for he doesn’t even know how many volts of pure electricity had rushed through him. Less romantic, and more confused as it had been so intense.
In the aftermath, he blinked a few times, needing a few seconds to process as he stared right ahead, seeing the concerned yet embarrassed look on Jason’s face as he stood right in front of him.
It had been strange, and not what he had expected at all, but honestly, he’s not that surprised by it either. Jason was the son of Jupiter after all. He’s all about electricity.
Possibly being electrocuted when kissing him should have been something that Nico took into account and planned for. But what person has to consider possibly being electrocuted when kissing someone?
Not a lot of them, so of course the thought hadn’t slipped his mind. Not even once. Because most people do not complain or warn you about how you might be literally electrocuted. To most, it’s only a figure of speech.
Does he smell burnt hair?
If he does, he’s sure it’s his own.
It’s certainly memorable.
He sees the scarlet face of Jason as he’s gotten several shades darker, embarrassment and worry clear on his face as he takes a look at Nico. It’s clear that he had lost control of his power, even if the kiss technically only classified as a peck lasting only about a second.
Jason losing control like that was actually incredibly adorable, even if it was a bit of a safety hazard. But yes, it’s mostly charming and makes him touched (is he touched, or was his brain fried? He’s sure he’s touched), because it shows how excited Jason had been for it. Just like Nico. It’s proof that he’s also wanted to kiss him for a long time.
“I’m… I’m so sorry I didn’t mean to electrocute you. I got excited”
Nico can’t help but smile.
“That’s not something a lot of people ever get to say,” he replies. “But it’s fine. Let’s try again.”
