how much can i be expected to tolerate?

Summary:

Seijoh "accidentialy" underbooked their hotel. Now a constantly fighting Yahaba and Kyoutani have to share a room. Too bad no one knew there was only one bed until it was too late.

Work Text:

"So here it says you have... Nine rooms booked, is that correct?" The lady at the front desk asked.

Yahaba perked up, "Oh, theres ten of us, you might wanna-"

"All correct, ma'am!" Oikawa interrupted.

"I'm sorry, Oikawa, why are there not ten rooms? Who's sharing?" Yahaba questioned.

"Well you are, my favorite kouhai!"

"Oh, well I'm down to share with Watari-"

"You're funny! You actually are sharing the room with... Kyouken-chan!"

"WHAT?" They shouted in unison.

The captain went on to explain. This practice camp was going to mean a lot to Seijoh. Both reputation and improvement wise. Due to Yahaba and Kyoutanis constant fighting, the team agreed they needed to get over it somehow. The supposed best option (for one reason or another) was to share a room.

"-So i'm sure you both understand! Every team needs a strong captain-ace bond, like me and Iwa-Chan!"

"Oh please, that bond is because you've probably sucked his dick," Kyoutani commented, Yahaba had to fight a giggle.

"Hey! Do not disrespect me like that! Anyways, here's you twos key. Don't lose it, you can't try to get a new one."

Yahaba rolled his eyes and went to grab his stuff. Sharing a room for one night couldn't get too bad, that is if Kyoutani can contain himself. They got into the elevator together as they went to their room, number 202.

Kyoutani scanned the keycard and when they stepped in the room, they could only notice one thing. A king sized bed in the very center.

"This is a pretty nice room actually. I can't believe it's a two bedroom room," Kyoutani said with a slight surprise in his voice.

"Look not to bring you down but- What are you doing?"

Kyoutani was bent down by the mini fridge, "Check it, free sodas, this really is a bougie place."

Yahaba ran down to grab Kyoutani faster than he's ever dived to get a ball. Grabbing "free" drink would be the reason coach would kill them.

"Seriously? Have you never been in a hotel before? Nothing is ever free. Absolutely do not touch anything, they'd charge you for oxygen if they could,"

Kyoutani frowned, "Sorry I was raised a motel kid. Having a fridge in here is crazy enough, let alone multiple rooms."

"You seriously haven't noticed?"

"...Noticed what?"

"Dude, it's only one bed. No couch or anything either, dammit."

"Why the hell would- It's whatever. I'll sleep on the floor, you can take the bed," Kyoutani suggested.

"No, if your back hurts for all of tomorrow I do not want to deal with you complaining. We can figure something else out'" Yahaba said with stress in his voice.

"Well I'm not dealing with you cranky tomorrow either, bastard, we gotta figure something out fast. It's already eleven."

"Eleven? This is already way later than we should've been up, ugh, look, would you be fine with... I don't even wanna say it, let alone think about it." Yahaba mumbled.

"Sleep together? I don't care. Just don't kick me," Kyoutani said bluntly.

"Absolutely do NOT say it like that, but yeah. It's too late to get a new room. Promise you don't snore?" Yahaba teased.

"I swear."

--------------------------

After the conversation they tried to get comfortable. Key word: Tried. No matter how he was positioned, Yahaba couldn't escape the warmth radiating from Kyoutanis body. It was clear that Kyoutani was just as restless. They both rolled over, accidentally making eye contact in the dark.

"Kyoutani, you should sleep. We're up early tomorrow," Yahaba whispered.

"I could say the same to you. Besides I just, I can't. I can't sleep like this."

"Why is that?"

"It's embarrassing, you would never shut up about it if I told you," If the lights were on, a clear blush would show across Kyoutanis face.

"Well, what happens in here stays in here. I swear I wont talk about it."

"... I'm not used to..." Kyoutani mumbled

"Couldn't hear you, say it again?" Yahaba asked.

"I'm not used to, ugh, I normally don't sleep without grabbing something. Theres not enough pillows for me to grab either, I don't want to take the whole blanket either."

"How gentlemanly," Yahaba joked, "Well, I'm not gonna help you with that. I can see about finding something else though, anythingto get you to sleep!"

Kyoutani laughed.

"What's so funny?"

"Nothing, it's just," He laughed between his words, "If me from a year ago knew I'd be in the same bed as you having this conversation, I would've passed out that moment!"

Yahaba took a second to analyze what his ace had said, "I didn't know you a year ago, did I?"

"Oh, shit, you didn't, but I definitely knew you."

"How so?"

"Well, you caught my eye anywhere you went. But I didn't know you were a prick at the time, I wouldn't have liked you as much if I knew," Kyoutani said as he brought himself closer to the setter.

"Hold on, I'm not thinking straight, you what" Yahaba blurted out.

"...I didn't mean to say that. Forget it," He drawled out.

"You can't just-!" He was cut off with a slight snore. Kyoutani had fallen asleep, but left Yahaba in a worse state than usual.

Like a reasonable person, Yahaba was going to wait until morning to discuss this with his teammate. Too bad once he woke up he found himself in the blondes arms and all he could think about for the rest of the trip was how nice they had felt.
