Why Must You Annoy Me?

Summary:

Saiki doesn't understand why Aiura won't stop bothering him.

Work Text:

Saiki wasn’t normally one to lose his patience, but today was an exception. He had been kind enough for long enough, but this girl following him around, with her highlighter yellow hair and crazy insistence that they were soulmates, was driving him mad, and he couldn’t take it anymore.

Aiura yammered away about some petty gossip as she trotted along next to him down the hallway. “So, like, that’s when I told Chiyopipi that when a guy likes you for you, you don’t gotta do all that–” Saiki interrupted her, clenching her face in his hand, pinching her cheeks in until her lips puckered and popped like a fish gasping for water.

“Why must you annoy me?” he said, more of a statement than a question.

She answered genuinely, anyway, even with her face smooshed up. “‘Cuz all my readings I did on you say that you like people who are kinda annoying.”

“Good grief. That’s ridiculous,” Saiki said as he finally released her face.

“I mean, not really,” Aiura said. Images flashed in her mind of all of Saiki’s classmates and acquaintances. Kaidou, Nendou, Kuboyasu, Toritsuka… As if Saiki really liked those people.

He scoffed. “Your psychic abilities are faulty.”

“Never been wrong about something like this in my life. But if you say so, I’ll pester you a little less, or whatevs.”

Saiki felt satisfied with himself as she finally walked away from him, glad to be rid of her overly confident, super spunky presence. But as those faces returned to his own mind–Kaidou, Nendou, Kuboyasu, and even Toritsuka–a tiny bit of doubt lingered in their midst.
