Work Text:

One thing Akito had come to know about Toya since they'd started dating is that he was shameless as hell.

It was a trait of his that was already somewhat there when they were just friends -- walking into shops full of girls without a care in the world and never understanding why someone might find it strange to see two guys at an amusement park together... It was clear that letting others pressure him into denying himself the things he wanted and enjoyed simply wasn't written into Toya's personality. Akito understood, readily accepted and nurtured that side of him whenever he could, never wanting to stunt his partner's emotional growth by any means.

However, he was wholly unprepared for what that would mean once the word 'partner' became a double entendre for them. Once Toya had discovered physical affection, there was pretty much no stopping him from leaning all over Akito, hugging him from behind, sneaking in a smooch, sometimes literally sitting in his lap mid-conversation and continuing to talk as if he hadn't just given his poor partner a gay heart attack.

And his words, dear lord... Again, expressing his emotions through his words was a trait Toya held for a long time, mostly due to his struggle with showing them on his face or comprehending his own feelings in general. That being said, Akito wasn't sure how he was meant to handle hearing his usual flowery declarations of appreciation turn blatantly lovey-dovey.

"Hm? What are you looking at?" Akito had asked one day, having inadvertently caught Toya staring at him unprompted with a less than ashamed smile.

"I'm just happy that I have the privilege of loving somebody as incredible as you, Akito."

He said that 6 fucking months into their relationship.

Nothing would beat the first time they had a sleepover as a couple, though. By that point it had already become a regular occurrence for Toya to stay over at the Shinonome household; something about how his father's attitude had run in the opposite direction he was going in a year prior. Regardless, the simple pretext that they were boyfriends now added a foreign layer to the simple, familiar act.

"Akito, do you mind if I take this shirt?" Toya had asked within what felt like seconds of entering the younger's bedroom, the oversized article draped over his arm in faux politeness. It certainly wasn't the first time Toya had stolen his clothes, nor would it be the last -- Saying no in the face of Toya's eagerness proved to be a flagrant impossibility after Akito learned the reason for it.

"You smell really good, Akito." Toya had told him one day, pausing to bury his face into the softness that was his partner's baggy hoodie. He inhaled deeply, letting out a dreamy sigh as he released the fabric; like it enamored him all over again to fill his senses with Akito in any way he could.

"When I'm draped in your clothes, it's like I'm surrounded by your scent... I really like it." Toya continued, as if reading Akito's mind with the intent of making him blush hard enough to make him dizzy. Not only that, but Akito had read something about how being attracted to the way your partner smelled had something to do with hormones or pheromones or whatever the hell you were supposed to call them -- In other words, Toya's adoration toward Akito was ingrained into his very chemistry, the unspoken notion of which effectively subduing any qualms the latter could've possibly had with the situation.

"Knock yourself out, dude." were the words that came out of Akito's mouth back in the present, the casualness of his tone betraying the way his heart was already booming against his chest. Toya responded with a brief, appreciative kiss to his partner's cheek, humming ever so slightly as he peeled off his own shirt in favor of the junky print tee he'd picked up -- and frankly had no business looking that cute in, which was an added bonus on Akito's part.

He really couldn't say no to Toya to save his life... Not because he couldn't express his disagreement or anything like that, but because he was so completely weak to anything and everything that could possibly make Toya happy. Any disagreement that might've risen instantly evaporated, even if it ended up requiring Akito to do something he'd be embarrassed about for weeks on end.

"...Akito?" Toya called the name of his partner again, peeking his head out from the hallway just in time to exemplify his thoughts. "I'm going to take a shower. Would you like to join me?"

Seriously, this guy felt no shame whatsoever. Here Akito was, turning red as a tomato over the prospect of sharing a shower with Toya, and yet the boy in question didn't have a speck of that sentiment in his expression. He asked the question like he was checking if Akito wanted anything from the store or something -- He was that secure in what he wanted.

Granted, Akito supposed the idea didn't really scare him or anything. He'd grown comfortable enough with Toya that even changing in front of each other didn't feel awkward anymore, and had overall gotten better at allowing himself to be vulnerable compared to how emotionally constipated and self-deprecating he used to be. They'd just never taken a step like that before, and Akito didn't have a natural penchant for candidness to ease him along the way Toya did.

He supposed the question he needed to ask was, regardless of what Toya wanted, was he comfortable with leaping forward like that?

"...?"

Ironically, looking into his partner's expectant eyes of silver gifted him the answer. They truly held nothing but adoration of the purest variety for Akito behind them, and gaining a glimpse into the core of that affection was to stare down the resulting fuzzy feelings -- the way Toya looked at him, gentle and patient and loving granted him a sense of safety and comfort like no other. He truly couldn't be blamed if he were coaxed into removing all of his inhibitions as a result.

"Sure, sounds good." Akito once again answered much more casually than the thoughts that ran through his head, receiving a delighted smile of unmatched warmth from Toya in return -- Clearly, he was excited to be able to share this experience with Akito, elated as ever by any chance he could take to get closer to his partner. Just as always, the taller's joy was infectious to a fault, and suddenly Akito's heart was picking up with enough anticipation to make him bound out of his bedroom door.

In a blur, the two of them were suddenly in the shower together. The water repeatedly pelted against the ceramic tiles below, dulled the moment the stream was intercepted by a pair of bodies. The heat swept Akito up in a wave of sudden relaxation, flooding his senses to the brim until every bit of feeling washed away sans the sensation of the soothing liquid cascading down his skin. That being said, he was also acutely aware of the fact that another person- that Toya was enclosed in the same space. It led to a bout of inner awkwardness as he pondered something he probably should've thought about before letting those pure, earnest eyes snatch him up in their impressive maw...

What the hell were you supposed to do in the shower with another person?

Unsure of how to move forward yet knowing he was meant to do something, Akito reached up to retrieve the bottle of shampoo he kept in the corner. However, before he could so much outstretch his fingers toward the bottle, Toya's hand had suddenly cased itself atop that of his partner's, polite in his unspoken demand yet managing to stop Akito in his tracks anyway.

"Wait." Toya nearly whispered, yet the sound of his voice may as well have overpowered the deafening sound of the running water. Slowly releasing himself from the heat of Toya's skin, which felt far more distinctly electric against his own than the continued steaming rain, Akito watched as Toya curled his fingers around the bottle himself with a tiny pleased hum. "Can I?"

...Oh. Oh.

"Yeah, go for it." Akito spoke at a volume equal to Toya's. He knew that logically there was nobody left in the house to care, but this moment felt so private and intimate that he couldn't help shrinking himself down to a size only Toya was allowed to see. Toya pressed a tender kiss to the top of his head in response, further convincing Akito that he was just reading his mind at that point.

With a swift pop of the lid and a hearty spurt across his head, Akito slightly shivered at the sudden cool substance unexpectedly stabbing his senses after having soaked himself. Lightly patting his head by way of apology, Toya placed the bottle back in its original position, a light 'thunk' occuring against the tile from what remained of its contents settling at the bottom. It was the only noise Akito could register before both of Toya's hands were suddenly raking through his hair, massaging the substance in with a touch that felt far too blissful to simply describe as 'soothing'.

Toya worked meticulously, lathering the shampoo through Akito's hair as if trying to run it through each and every dense, silky lock, yet still gentle enough to leave Akito weak. His fingertips danced through every pressure point across his scalp in a slow, loving waltz; he was treating Akito like he was made of glass, as though he would break without just the right amount of care poured into the act, and the increasingly floaty sensation that came of it left him no time to be shocked over how good it felt to be treated that way.

"Akito? Can I...?" Toya's voice whispered to him from the edge of cloud nine, this time holding the soap with one hand and kneading the foamed-up shampoo into his head with the other.

"Mm-hm..." Akito nodded in approval, after taking a moment for his mind and body to fumble through the reconnection process and remembering that he needed to speak his words in order for Toya to acknowledge them.

Once again, Akito felt a smooch land on his skin -- this time against the small of his neck, since his head was currently preoccupied by the shampoo. He felt Toya's breath ghost him from behind, unsure of when he moved into that position but not really caring when the warmth of Toya's chest was suddenly flush against his back.

Akito could hear the hum in his partner's voice more clearly this time as Toya nuzzled into the back of his ear. There was zero sense of urgency in his ministrations, one hand slowly sudsed up the younger's body from the side of his hip upward while the other wrapped around him from underneath his arm in the best attempt he could make at a hug. It was so weird -- the feeling of his own heartbeat syncing into the one thumping at his back, sheer intimacy the likes of which he didn't know existed as every inch of Toya's body strived to meld against Akito's with each slippery movement of their mutually soapy skin... He would drown in this overflowing sensation if given the opportunity.

And then Toya's hands were leaving his body, a hunger blossoming within his core that he didn't think he could possibly crave. Luckily, he was only made to endure the separation for but a moment, as Toya had taken down the detachable showerhead with a tell-tale 'clank'. Suddenly, the water was pouring over his head to dispel all that had accumulated there, as if Toya aimed to wash away all the impurities within him and leave room for nothing but his love.

And truly, Akito had never felt so completely loved as he did in this moment. The minute he'd rinsed them off, Toya pressed a string of kisses along the faint freckles which decorated the upper part of Akito's back and shoulders. With each one, he mumbled the same phrase over and over, until he finally nosed up Akito's neck and was able to whisper the final 'I love you' which made Akito's heart positively burst.

Then, eternal and ephemeral all the same, everything stopped. The water had been reduced to mere residual trickles which lamely broke against the edge of the drain, they'd toweled themselves off, gotten redressed in the lazy sweats and tees they'd elected to sleep in... All while sneaking in a few more chaste kisses and touches, of course, unable to keep themselves off each other for even half a second.

Akito felt... odd. Like his heart was quiet, something he seldom experienced even on his best of days. He'd never been ambushed with such an intoxicatingly calming sense of pure happiness before, evident in the way he tugged at his own clothes as though this emotion wasn't meant to fit over his skin. Luckily, Toya disagreed with that notion, and thus did Akito find himself being spooned by his absolute angel of a partner.

"...Hey, Toya?" Akito had murmured, voice already raspy from sleepiness.

"Yes, Akito?" Toya replied in kind, punctuating his ask with another kiss to his neck.

"Can I wash you next time?"

"Heh... I would love nothing more, Akito."
