"If I'd known where our paths would lead us," Hikaku slaps his palms on the ground and a sinkhole opens beneath their enemies. "I'd have run the other way when I met you."
"No, you wouldn't have." Tobirama-sama's blade is swift, fittingly for the fastest shinobi in Hi no Kuni, and two more of their opponents fall to the lightning it spits.
"... no. I wouldn't have." Hikaku puts his back to his mission partner's and draws two kunai from his own weapons pouch. "I did think about it though."
"Because you're an intelligent man who doesn't believe that retreat in the face of a stronger opponent is cowardice." Tobirama-sama moves with him smoothly, the two of them spreading a circle of death all around them. "If I die here, I'm glad it won't be with a fool."
"Excuse me, but I'd rather neither of us die - here or any time soon." Hikaku redoubles his efforts to cut them out of this mess. "Izuna-sama told me that the new onsen is very good, and I haven't had the chance to try it yet."
"Neither have I," Tobirama-sama's voice is thoughtful and he hurls a kunai marked with a very familiar symbol right past their enemies faces. "Perhaps we should both pay it a visit."
A strong arm wraps around his waist and Hikaku braces himself for the disorientation the Hiraishin always brings with it.
If he survives this, he's going to hold his mission partner to that.
