Chapter Text
The world in which Chuuya live is colorless and boring in both the literal and figurative sense.
The clouds are always gray almost black and it seems impossible that even a ray of sunlight could get through them.
The trees had all lost their leaves and were just dark brown trunks, hinting at something that hadn't been there for a long time.
There is no living green grass growing on the ground, it is just cold, black earth.
The only source of light far and wide is a town several kilometers away from the woods.
The inhabitants there are always beaming with joy and always seem happy when Chuuya watches them from afar.
It always makes him feel so lonely it's like he's in the middle of a group full of living beings where everyone is happy and content and he's the only one who feels like he's in the wrong place.
Chuuya blinked when he saw a blue ball falling from the sky.
Slowly, he tilts his head to the side and looks at the direction in which the blue ball fell.
With slow steps, Chuuya approaches the blue dot in the distance.
The blue thing he saw at the end was the blue tail of a kitsune.
A kitsune in this country, how strange.
Kitsune would normally rather kill themselves than set foot in this land as the environment here is terrible for a kitsune to live in.
Kitsune needed a living forest, or rather a certain amount of living nature, people they could trick or a shrine they could guard.
The problem with this land was that firstly, it had no nature where kitsune usually felt most comfortable.
Secondly, the people here only had emotions that were considered "good" they couldn't feel emotions like jealousy, envy, anger or hate which made it quite boring for kitsune to trick people.
And last but not least, there was only one shrine in the whole country, but no kitsune would ever want to guard it voluntarily because it was dedicated to the god of the country Arahabaki and kitsune detested the smell of his power.
In the history of the land after the incident, there were perhaps 10 kitsune who ever lived here.
But now here lies a one-tailed kitsune who was bleeding.
Chuuya blinks several times.
Oh, he's bleeding.
As far as Chuuya knew, kitsune with only one tail could almost certainly die from blood loss.
Uh, should Chuuya help the kitsune?
Chuuya walks up to the kitsune who is holding his chest with a big cut on it and the cut is healing too slowly, which is probably because he only has one tail.
"It's bleeding quite badly do you want my help? I can treat this wound in my house if you want."
The kitsune's ears twitch and he looks up, his eyes widening a little when he sees Chuuya.
Chuuya bends down to talk to him at eye level so that he can hear him when it is too painful to speak out loud.
Up close, he can see the wheels literally turning in the kitsune's head before he slowly nods as his tail tucks in behind him.
Chuuya nods back and picks up the kitsune the way humans would pick up their bride.
Good thing he's wearing black otherwise the red blood on his clothes would look terible.
The blue-tailed kitsune looks up in surprise as if he didn't expect Chuuya to carry him like this, although it's the most logical decision considering that the kitsune is injured on the chest.
The two said nothing for a while until the kitsune broke the silence.
"What-What is you Name?"
The voice sounded croaky which made Chuuya frown briefly but he answered honestly.
"Nakahara Chuuya is my name."
The kitsune nods again and Chuuya thought they were going to continue in silence but the kitsune continues to speak.
"My name is Dazai Osamu"
That's a lie Chuuya knows but hums and dismisses it.
No kitsune just gives his name like that, especially not to someone they don't know.
But it wasn't as if it offended or hurt Chuuya, it was quite normal for him not to say his name.
"Where are we exactly, Chuuya?"
Chuuya feels a small shudder when the kitsune says his name but ignores it and concentrates on the question.
"This place is the land of Arahabaki I think other people call it "Ayrena" but I could be wrong."
Dazai's ears perk up and Chuuya feels like his eyes are suddenly shining with intelligence.
"The land of Arahabaki? The most bastardized but strongest of all gods whose land can only be entered from the outside if Arahabaki invites you or you have committed a deed that deserves to be banished to the most desolate land of all."
His voice sounds somehow...reverent?
How strange, what a freak.
(Somewhere in the land, a small flower seedling slowly began to sprout.)
"You can also enter the land if you really need protection, if you're lucky a portal might open for you."
Chuuya replies, a little proud that such a thing is possible in his country.
Dazai seems to think the same because his eyes light up a little.
Then his nose wrinkles a little and he lifts his head.
"Something smells funny here, not like humans or other creatures."
Surprisingly, chuuya looks down at Dazai in disbelief, who doesn't notice but looks towards the city.
He has an incredibly good sense of smell, even for a kitsune.
"They are inhabitants of this land, they can only live here because they have bound themselves to this land, they are under Arahabaki's protection because they were driven out and hunted by the other lands."
Dazai turns his gaze back to Chuuya his gaze looks like he is analyzing Chuuya.
Now he looks like Chuuya is imagining himself a kitsune.
"It is said that Arahbaki's land has no life at all and what it has is full of evil somehow I have the feeling that the stories have been exaggerated a lot the smell of these people is new and strange but they smell no worse than normal people why should they be hunted?"
Chuuya's steps quickened a little and his expression darkened.
He knew that none of the hunted deserved it of course he knew that but to have it confirmed by a kitsune somehow pulled bad emotions out of him.
Dazai's expression changed it was only the shift of a millimeter in the end which Chuuya didn't notice.
"You know the inhabitants here are completely positive beings also called "Lir" the only "negative" emotion they can feel is fear."
Chuuya slowly sees the outline of his house.
His house was in the middle of nowhere it was not a big house but also not a small house but it worked for Chuuya.
The sight of his house somehow calms Chuuya a little he sighs softly.
"The blood from them was realy popular for a while because it could make any living being feel better they usually used it for patients at first it was great but after a while people were obsessed with having that feeling anymore they became addicted to the blood and started to hunt wildly for their blood irrationally."
Dazai's expression darkened a little bit and now almost resembled Chuuya's expression .
"So it works like a drug."
Chuuya nods and closes his eyes briefly before continuing.
"At that time, Arahabaki's kingdom was just like all other kingdoms full of life and different races but when Arahabaki saw all the most innocent ones attacking all the living beings Arahabaki had friends in, the land slowly began to die driven by anger and hatred Arahabaki made a pact with the leader of the Lir he promised them complete protection as long as they were in his land and banished every other race from his land then he had to spend 10 human years in the Mind world because of the aftermath of the banishment."
Dazai's mouth opens and closes again as if he had no words then he spoke again.
"That-that's very different from the story told in other countries."
Chuuya snorts and kicks open the door to his house, which immediately sends a warm wave across his face.
Yes, he can imagine how twisted the version is in other countries.
After all, it's always easier to find a scapegoat than to take responsibility yourself.
Chuuya carries Dazai, who looks around curiously, through his house and brings him into his bedroom and lets him sit on the chair next to the bed.
"Nice place you've got here Chuuya, a little too old-fashioned for my taste but if you like it." says Dazai and his chat wags a little in the air probably in reaction to the warmth which is a stark comparison to the cold outside.
Chuuya, looking in his closet for a first aid kit, hums in agreement, "A couple of my close friends had furnished the house a couple centuries ago."
With the first aid kit in hand, Chuuya turns to look at Dazai, who had pulled his shirt open so that Chuuya could see the cut on his chest.
Dazai had closed his eyes and put his head on his neck, probably due to blood loss.
Without further hesitation, Chuuya begins to tend to Dazai's wound, ignoring Dazai's annoyed looks and pouting.
Dazai gasps and whines the whole time until Chuuya is ready.
"I'll see if I have a shirt for you you can sleep in my bed for the night."
Dazai screws up his face into something horribly obviously fake and looks at Chuuya with wide eyes.
"Not at all Chuuya I can't let you sleep on the couch or on the floor let me sleep on the couch."
Chuuya let out a loud laugh and brightens his belly laughing when he sees this terribly fake innocence.
( slowly a flower starts to open)
"Shut up you're terrible at pretending to be nice besides I wasn't planning on sleeping on the couch or the floor my bed is big enough for two."
Dazai opened up and somehow Chuuya instinctively knew it was fake.
"Oh my Chuuya I never thought you-"
His words were interrupted when Chuuya threw a T-shirt in Dazai's face.
"Shut up"
"Well Chuuya I have the feeling you're exaggerating a bit I wouldn't have done anything naughty with you while you were sleeping."
Dazai eyes the wall of pillows Chuuya has erected with a frown.
"Shut up"
Chuuya says for the 34th time in half an hour and yes, Dazai has been counting.
Dazai sighs dramatically and throws himself on one side of the bed and buries himself under the covers.
"Such a mean chibi." Dazai mumbles into his pillow.
Chuuya, who had just been working on the wall, looks at him, his gaze suddenly full of anger.
"What did you just call me?"
Dazai doesn't look up and mumbles into his pillow.
"I called you Chibi because you're damn small."
The next moment, Chuuya throws a pillow into Dazai's face.
He would have done worse, but that damn kitsune was still hurt.
Chuuya blinks in surprise as Dazai wraps his tail around his wrist, pulls him so hard he loses his balance and then sits on him.
With a big grin, Dazai slams the pillow into his face.
(A beautiful blue flower stood alone in a dark field.)
"Pff you look like an idiot."
Chuuya laughs at Dazai whose cheeks stretch because of the food and looked incredibly cute.
Chuuya tried not to think about the fact that two days in a row he laughed more genuinely than he had in hundreds of years.
Dazai quickly finishes chewing his food and sticks his tongue out.
"You know, Chibi, not all of us can cook this well" Dazai pauses briefly "where did you get the cooking ingredients anyway?"
That's right, Dazai has no idea how things works here.
"I made a deal with the god of spring, he pretty much has to give up most of his power if he doesn't transport enough food every week."
Dazai whistles appreciatively, not hiding his grin in the slightest.
"I'm impressed that such a little chibi managed to trick another god like that."
Oh somehow Chuuya like being praised it feels good.
"Ah it wasn't really anything special it just happened that I know a couple secrets that would lead to other gods chopping his head off if they found out."
Slowly, Dazai nod and the playfulness in his eyes disappears slightly.
"Ah I see that makes sense, Arahabaki."
Chuuya stops and looks at Dazai his body suddenly cold and yet so boiling hot at the same time.
Dazai does not avoid his gaze but start towards him without a hint of hesitation or uncertainty.
"What gave it away?"
The sticks in Dazai's hand are placed on the table before he begins to speak.
"I had a hunch from the moment I saw you that you smell unusual, then there was the way you told the story so vividly and angrily, and last but not least, you didn't even acknowledge me when I said "another god"."
Ah right before Chuuya was a kitsune a weak one but still a kitsune Chuuya should have expected that.
"I see, well what can I do? I haven't felt like fighting in a couple centuries and I'd hate to kill you after I just nursed you."
Chuuya sighs and circles the table until he stands next to Dazai, who looks up at him, his eyes covered in emotions that Chuuya can't interpret.
Chuuya strokes Dazai's face lightly and imagines how he will kill Dazai.
He appreciates his peaceful and quiet life.
"What are you going to do with this new information?"
The question is asked without really expecting an answer as Chuuya already knows that it-
Without even a moment's hesitation, Dazai bites Chuuya's hand.
Dazai bites Chuuya's hand
Dazai. bites. Chuuya's. hand
"I like staying here I have a chibi who cooks for me and takes care of me like a great wife I don't want to insult you no scratch that I want to insult you completely your world outside is really dull."
There was nothing funny about the situation, but Chuuya still laugh out loud while his heart was beating fast.
( where the blue flower stood alone in the ground surrounded by nothing but darkness , grass began to form hesitantly beneath it.)
"By the way, I can't really help how my land looks like since I have a pretty close connection with this place, my emotions affect this place."
Dazai look at Chuuya wordlessly and Chuuya expects a stupid comment from Dazai but Dazai nods understandingly.
"Ah that makes sense I suppose."
Chuuya blinks in confusion, not really knowing what to make of the statement.
Is that an insult or not?
After a moment of silence, Chuuya leaves the subject aside and starts eating.
As a god, he doesn't really need to eat, but he likes the taste of most food and actually enjoys it a lot.
Not long after, Dazai follows Chuuya's lead and stuffs himself with food again.
After a brief hesitation, Chuuya asks a question.
"Do you just like crabs a lot or do you eat every food so ehm euphoric."
Without a moment's hesitation or looking up, the kitsune says.
"I love crabs."
The god nods in response and makes a mental note of it in case he ever needs the information.
After the two have finished eating, Chuuya begins to wash the dishes while Dazai puts his head on the table and sighs.
Chuuya makes a "huh?" noise but doesn't turn to Dazai and continues washing the dishes.
"Chu-ya what are you planning to do today?"
That's a surprisingly good question.
Actually, Chuuya would have stayed at home for the day, but he has a feeling Dazai wouldn't like that answer.
Chuuya furrows his brow thoughtfully and thinks a little.
"Eh, what do you think of the idea of me showing you the city today?"
The kitsune jumps up from his seat and nods quickly, his tail wagging happily in the air behind him.
Without him being able to do anything about it, Chuuya's mouth forms into a smile.
"Well then, we can go into town after I'm done here."
Dazai walks beside Chuuya while his tail flies happily from side to side all the time.
Suddenly, Dazai's tail stopped in mid-motion, causing Chuuya to raise an eyebrow.
"Why suddenly the bad mood is-"
Chuuya stops as he smells the odor of smoke and screams reach his ear.
The god's face immediately darkens as his gaze breaks away from Dazai and looks at the city.
There were flames everywhere, the houses were burning while a demon flew over the city.
Within a second, Chuuya grabbed Dazai like yesterday and ran off. Dazai gasped in surprise but didn't really react except to cling tightly to Chuuya.
It only takes a few seconds for the two of them to get there and Chuuya drops Dazai on the ground.
The god looks up into the sky and sees the demon's horns and tattoo and sighs in annoyance - a high-ranking demon has to appear today of all days.
Chuuya removes his cloak from his shoulder and throws it in Dazai's face.
The kitsune shouts an indignant "hey" but Chuuya is already in the air and, using his ability to manipulate gravity, crushes the demon's bones and tears off all its horns without a moment's hesitation.
It happens so fast that the demon doesn't see the action itself but only feels the pain.
Chuuya digs his hands into the demon's chest and looks at his heart before kicking him out of the air and into the ground.
Dazai removes the cloak from his face and stares wide-eyed at the demon who was laughing like a madman in the air a moment ago.
He slowly swallows his saliva and mentally thanks his past self for not attacking Chuuya with a knife in his sleep.
It is true that the kitsune loves the idea of death, but he is reluctant to die so brutally.
Chuuya looks at the guards and hands one of them the demon's heart.
"Put this piece of filth in the dungeon, I'll give it to the messenger of the god of spring when he comes."
The guards nod understandingly and start to carry the demon, who can't even move because of his broken bones.
Chuuya, who is not covered by a single bloodstain, turns to the Lir's and bows apologetically.
"I'm sorry I was here so late, you must have been very scared, it's over now."
Dazai watches with wide eyes as the Lir's begin to cheer and then laugh as they start to put out the fire.
They don't really speak words that Dazai understands, it's as if they speak part of the normal language but also have their own words.
It's fascinating.
In the stories hardly anything was said about the Lir's and when it was, it was told about how Arahabaki had enslaved them and tortured them cruelly.
What a big lie Dazai thinks to himself as he sees Chuuya helping the Lir's rebuild the city, there is no trace of the god who made a high-ranking Demon beg in seconds.
The wheels in Dazai's head are turning as he goes to Chuuya but is stopped when a Lir with white hair touches his tail.
It wasn't pulling or intrusive stroking no the child touched his tail carefully and reverently as if it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
Dazai didn't usually like children but he couldn't deny that this kid was cute.
Lir's by themselves smell quite pleasant and pure but this child smells delicious and drenched in innocence.
He must have led a good life here where the Lir's are under Chuuya's complete protection.
It was almost ironic that the land of the God of Destruction seemed to be the land with the least destruction.
The kitsune smiles at the child and picks him up.
"What are you doing here, little one?"
He hopes that the Lir can understand his words, otherwise it would be quite embarrassing.
But the boy seems to understand him as he smiles broadly and shows Dazai all his own.
"Chuu-uya has co-come to visit again after a reaaaaaaly long time."
Oh? Dazai would have thought that Chuuya comes to visit very often as this seems to be the only town far and wide.
He glanced at Chuuya who was busy laughing with another lir and then whispered to the little kid.
"Doesn't Chuuya come here often?"
The child quickly shakes his head wildly and then pouts.
"No! He comes to visit once or twice every few weeks, but otherwise he only comes when we're in danger."
Dazai hums and then smiles at the child, to which the child smiles back.
"You really seem to like Chuuya so much don't you ehm what's your name kid?"
The boy blinks and then makes wild hand movements while his face burns.
So innocent and sweet, very different from the children Dazai has met.
"Oh I'm sorry I was just so ex-cited to see a kitsu-une I've read a lot about them in books you know? My name is Nakajima Atsushi and of course I like Chuuya he's sooooo cool and helpful."
Chuckling softly, Dazai strokes Atsushi's head and hums a little.
That made sense he assumed for the rest of the countries Chuuya was a crazy asshole but for every Lir he must be like the greatest hero in all of history.
"Dazai I'm sorry that something came up oh hello Atsushi how are you?"
Atsushi blushes and stammers to himself.
The kitsune puts the child back on the ground and stands next to Chuuya, the child eyes the both with wide eyes and suddenly opens up even more so that he looks like a cute little tomato with white hair.
"You two know each other?"
Chuuya nods and bends down to Atsushi, stroking his hair.
"Yes, I came here today to show him the town, why don't you go and play with the other children?"
The child nods quickly and then runs off.
"So you still want me to show you the city?"
Dazai nods and the two of them walk around the city for a long time, talking the whole way, which is surprisingly pleasant.
"Hey Chuuya?"
Chuuya looks at Dazai, his body relaxed and his smile pleasantly raised.
"What's up Dazai?"
The kitsune thought long and hard about how to phrase the question and in the end just says.
"That demon from earlier, how did that happen and what will happen to him now?"
The god's face falls a little but he quickly composes himself and lightly squeezes Dazai's hand.
Right Dazai almost forgot that they had started holding hands.
"Do you remember I told you that it can happen that a portal opens when someone needs help?"
Dazsi nods yes, he remembers that pretty well.
"Most people are grateful for it and seek protection here in the only city and live peacefully with the Lir's, but sometimes incidents like today can happen and I have to give such people to the messengers of the god of spring to take them out of here and light a punishment outside as this is the only way to leave this land without me banishing someone."
Dazai faltered at these words, his face contorting out of Chuuya's gaze.
His brain began to overheat and his ears twitched.
He smiles humorously and asks.
"So Chuuya can't even leave his own country how embarrassing~"
Chuuya punched him in the stomach but it didn't really hurt nevertheless Dazai gasped exaggeratedly.
"Idiot of course I can leave the country as I want I have the ability of a god only the people who are here once can only leave the country if I banish them which I avoid as much as possible because I don't want to spend ten years in the mind world the only other way out is with the messengers for which I have to be present myself then they check if it's really me they have a spell for that and then they take the person I hand over to them which is actually always a criminal so they always take the person to prison immediately."
Chuuya explains in a normal tone while kicking a stone in front of him and doesn't see the look Dazai gives him.
Months pass and the land begins to blossom Grass is starting to grow just about everywhere now, the sun shines brightly, trees glow a beautiful shade of green, flowers and plants are everywhere the eye can see.
The Lir's slowly begin to leave the city and explore the now radiant, vibrant land.
A couple of the oldest Lir's who were alive when the hunt for Lir's was made even cry as they see more and more green covering their land.
Chuuya also starts to visit the Lir's more often, often with Dazai by his side who would always play with the Lir children.
Today is another one of those days and Chuuya is about to set off in search of Dazai as the weather is getting dark when Dazai approaches him with a big grin, his hands hidden behind his back while his tail wags behind him.
His clothes are dirty and full of dust and dirt and his hair is messy.
Before Chuuya could ask, Dazai grinned broadly at him and pulled out a flower crown from behind his back.
Chuuya looked at the flower crown with wide eyes.
The flower crown is damn ugly.
The flowers are badly damaged and they look as if someone has already stepped on them.
The kitsune grins hopefully down at Chuuya and his voice sounds so excited.
"The kids and I decided to make a flower crown today I thought I'd make you a nice crown I fell a few times on the way but I don't think they look too bad."
Ah shit how is Chuuya supposed to talk his way out of this without feeling too bad.
Dazai hands Chuuya his flower crown and says euphorically.
"Come on Chuuya wear it."
With a fake smile, Chuuya accepts the crown and puts it on after a moment's hesitation.
Dazai's smile was worth wearing this ugly piece.
Another week passed when Chuuya caught dazai in the library with a book in his hand.
"Booh," Chuuya said as he stood behind Dazai, startling him so that he flinched and gave him a start, quickly hiding the book behind his back.
"Ch-Chuuya you scared me!"
Chuuya giggled at Dazai's startled face and leaned forward a little playfully, causing Dazai to step back a bit.
"I know that's why I did it stupid" Chuuya smiled and took another step back, giving Dazai his free space again.
Dazai exhaled a little shakily and his tail wagged quickly behind him.
"What book are you reading Dazai?"
The kitsune flinched but couldn't react fast enough as Chuuya quickly snatched the book from his hand.
Dazai closed his eyes as Chuuya read.
"Traditions of gods? Hey, you don't have to be ashamed of that, I also like reading traditions of other beings and the author of the book is an old and very esteemed acquaintance of mine."
Suddenly all the tension seems to disappear from Dazai and he laughs with Chuuya.
"Yes, of course, how silly of me."
Chuuya leans against the wall and asks Dazai with his head cocked a little to one side.
"So any tradition you're particularly interested in, I can answer any questions you have."
Ah, what should Dazai answer?
In a moment of desperation, Dazai says the first thing that comes into his head he thought he heard that gods have pretty specific traditions in this and hopefully that would distract Chuuya enough.
"How do god weddings work I think I've heard they're quite an event."
Chuuya's eyes sparkle at the question and he nods excitedly.
The kitsune often found it hard to remember that Chuuya is probably the strongest being in existence.
"They're a huge thing you know the god gives a part of his power and half of his heart to his beloved as a sign of his love who then looks after the heart for exactly one year before giving it back to his beloved which is also quite breathtaking about god weddings is the fact that the power the god takes from his partner takes a form that shows what the partner desires the most but it's always a metaphor like a ring or a heart or something like what."
Dazai nods understandingly and there is a gleam in his eyes that Chuuya can't quite place.
Surprisingly, a moment later Chuuya makes a face like a kicked puppy and sighs.
"I'm sorry Dazai but I promised the kids I'd play with them today I'll come pick you up later okey? maybe I'll make crabs for dinner tonight."
Dazai nodded quickly and exhaled heavily as Chuuya left the library he pulled from the shelf the book he was really reading.
"How to steal Powers for every race."
He won't need the book anymore.
"Hey Chibi I have a question for you"
Chuuya, who is lying on Dazai's chest, hums curiously but does not raise his head to look at Dazai.
The two are lying in a meadow enjoying each other's presence when Dazai breaks the silence.
"You said that the partner would take care of the god's heart for a year, but what if he gives the heart later or not at all?"
Chuuya closes his eyes and sighs, he had hoped Dazai wouldn't ask.
"I suppose there shouldn't be a big problem if the partner gives it a little later up to 5 years, nothing should happen."
Dazai swallows and asks quietly, almost anxiously.
"And if he gives it after five years or not at all?"
Then the god will endure pain worse than death for all the time he spends without the heart. Black chains close around the god's heart, which are said to burn hotter than the fire of Hades' underworld and to hurt so much that a weak god could even die from them.
Chuuya says nothing of this to Dazai, but he also chooses not to lie, not wanting to tell the kitsune he had come to love.
"They are in terrible pain and I can't imagine what the pain feels like for the god after he realizes his partner has betrayed him."
Dazai swallows and strokes Chuuya's hair.
"Does the other party have to have the heart for a year can't you give it back right away?"
Chuuya shakes his head and slowly closes his eyes.
"No, the god can only accept the heart after a year, before that the body of the god will not be able to accept the heart again."
The kitsune nods weakly and sighs.
Just before his eyes close, Chuuya murmurs to Dazai.
"I love you Osamu."
Dazai closes his eyes.
Several months flew by and soon it will be the second year since Chuuya and Dazai have been in a relationship.
The two were sitting in the living room when Dazai spoke up.
"I think we should redecorate this house."
Chuuya stops rooted to the spot and turns around his eyes veiled by unknown emotions.
"The house I think we should find some new furniture for it."
Chuuya stood in the middle of the room for a long time with the same expression on his face and it seemed like he was having several mental outbursts at the same time.
Dazai was starting to feel uneasy and regretted asking the question, he knew that Chuuya's old friends had decorated this house with him and that he hadn't had the heart to redecorate the house since their deaths.
"Forget what I said, if you don't like the idea, that's perfectly okay."
The red-haired god seems to have regained his composure and shakes his head.
"No, you're right, this house finally needs new furniture."
Dazai smiles and grabs Chuuya's hand.
It was the anniversary of their third year as a couple.
Chuuya had made them crab and they were sitting together when Chuuya decided to propose.
He had been thinking about proposing to Dazai for a long time.
Dazai had brought light into his life, which had been blurred by darkness, and made Chuuya glow with happiness again after centuries.
Chuuya loves Dazai more than he loves himself and can no longer imagine life without the kitsune.
Roses and blue flowers began to bloom all over the country when Dazai said "yes" to Chuuya's proposal.
"Chuuya, calm down, everything will be fine, you're worrying too much for nothing."
Dazai, standing in a beautiful white suit, pats Chuuya on the shoulder.
Said redhead is wearing the same white suit as Dazai.
"Damn Osamu I'm getting married of course I'm excited you're sure you know how everything works right?"
What Chuuya didn't tell Dazai was that his gut feeling told him something bad was going to happen today and Chuuya's gut feeling was always right.
Dazai rolls his eyes and bends down to kiss Chuuya.
The kiss is deep and long Dazai doesn't leave an inch of his mouth untouched and sucks on Chuuya's tongue biting his lip, only releasing him when they're both breathless.
"You're worrying too much Chuuya and yes, of course I know how the wedding goes, first we go to the altar where the normal wedding is performed and after we're getting official married then comes the gods part."
Slowly Chuuya sighs out and nods to Dazai holding his hand and nodding.
"Okey you're right everything will be fine I'm just so happy to have you by my side Osamu I love you so much."
The kitsune opens his mouth when suddenly the music starts playing outside.
Chuuya's eyes light up as he grabs Dazai's hand tightly and gives him a smile and the two of them start walking towards Alter.
All the resident in town had gathered and cheered loudly as the two came out Atsushi was at the front and cheered the loudest.
Each of them carries a beautiful blue flower in their hands, Dazai's favorite flower
The two cross the path to the altar at a leisurely pace and enjoy the moment.
As they stand before the altar, they go through the normal speech before the two say yes to each other, whereupon everyone begins to cheer.
Chuuya gets down on one knee and smiles at Dazai, who looks up in surprise.
"While I live and can continue to move, I swear to protect and honor you forever, please accept this gift from me as a token of my affection."
On his knees, Chuuya smiles at Dazai, his eyes showing nothing but pure love and affection.
The kitsune swallows awkwardly and then smiles tightly as two things appear in the air before him.
Two crystals, one blood red and the other pitch black, float in front of him.
Before the wedding, Chuuya had explained to Dazai several times that the black one is his ability and the red one is his heart.
Dazai took the red crystal in his hand and put it on the chain Chuuya had given him so that he could wear it for a year.
Then he hesitantly stretches out his hand towards the black crystal, briefly stopping his fingers just a few millimeters away from the crystal.
He exhales his breath and touches the crystal, causing it to radiate bright black light that covers the whole world before changing to a golden color until the light disappears completely.
Chuuya, who has stood up, approaches Dazai, scrutinizing the object in Dazai's hand, his face contorts briefly before he smiles and stands in front of Dazai.
"Hmm not the most desired transformation but can happen I suppose."
Chuuya looks over the book and there is nothing on the front page but a name.
The book that was made from his power, which is apparently what Dazai craves the most, is a book written by Oda Sakunosuke.
Hmm what a beautiful name.
The resident cheer loudly and Chuuya smiles at Dazai.
"I suppose I can kiss my Husband now?
The question was asked playfully and teasingly, but Dazai flinches and looks up from the book to see Chuuya's eyes shining with love.
The kitsune tightens his grip on the book, causing it to shatter like glass.
Chuuya watches wide-eyed as some of his power flies into Dazai's body.
The kitsune's single white/blue tail turned black and white and suddenly several tails came out so that in the end there were nine ones in total. The ears on Dazai's head also turned from blue to black.
Chuuya blinks in confusion and then laughs slightly and clearly his bad feeling burns in him.
"Hey you stupid kitsune you shouldn't break the item but take care of it permanently other than the heart you give me back after a year the part of my power should be in the object that has the appearance of what you desire and love the most but what can you do now it's too late I guess we can shit on tradition if you-"
The now newly nine tailed kitsune interrupts Chuuya, his eyes scrutinizing him, his gaze becoming composed.
"I never loved you Chuuya I wasn't planning on taking things this far but this was my only way out without going to jail" Dazai laughs a little while Chuuya looks at him with eyes full of disbelief . "I must be a great actor if I made a god believe that I love him."
Chuuya just stand where in on no word leaves his lips he just looks at Dazai no word comes out.
(Within a few seconds, the land begins to lose its beautiful green hue and returns to its old black).
Dazai shrugs his shoulders but doesn't look Chuuya directly in the eye. " Did you really don't see it coming Chuuya?"
Chuuya just stand where in on no word leaves his lips he just looks at Dazai no word comes out.
(Slowly, the last plant in the land withers, a blue flower.)
Dazai wrinkles his face and looks down slightly at his hands, his body still getting used to Arahabaki's strength.
He looks at Chuuya, his face emotionless but his eyes glistening with tears.
dazai knows that he will never forget that expression.
Yell at me, insult me, try to hurt me but don't just stand there and stare at me.
"You were so clueless about everything I did, you liked what you saw behind your pink and red glasses so much, it was so easy to trick you, it was almost pathe-."
Dazai stopp as several stones fly towards him and he dodg them all. It wasn't Chuuya who threw the stones, but the Lir's who launch them at Dazai, their usually kind eyes filled with rage.
And at the sight of it, Dazai smiles faintly.
Right he betrayed them too with his action apparently so much that they feel an emotion they shouldn't be able feel.
His gaze shifted to a little boy with white hair who was crying his eyes out.
...
Dazai averts his gaze and looks at Chuuya who slowly opens his mouth.
"Was it all an act?" His voice sounded tired and destroyed much worse than Dazai has ever heard but Dazai nods.
"Yes, it was all an act-" Chuuya interrupts him.
"so nothing was real the idiot who whines at every meal except crabs doesn't exist? Dazai whose eyes light up whenever he sees a book he likes was a lie? The Dazai who stood by me in nights of nightmares was just a farce to steal my power? To ruin the day what was supposod to be the best of my life?"
The nine-tailed kitsune was speechless for a moment and decided not to answer.
Of course it wasn't all a lie but Dazai no longer wanted to be a prisoner here he want to see Oda and ango.
Chuuya tilt his head to the side, something he often did, but this time his eyes lit up in a wild cinnaber tone.
"If this was all a lie, I don't want to see you again Dazai Osamu get off my land and never come back."
Dazai feels a kind of vacuum pulling him away.
Oh Chuuya has just banished him.
Is his last thought before he closes his eyes.
Chuuya stood shakily in front of the Alter and looked at the mess he made he then turned to the his people and smiles before bowing.
"I'm sorry you had to see that, you must have been very scared, it's over now."
Chuuya closes his eyes as his body turns to dust.
