Work Text:
Bored out of his mind, Izuku can only think of one thing that could really entertain him right now—the problem is, Aizawa outrightly placed a ban on Katsuki from meeting him after the stunt they pulled last time. Safe to say his dignity was still intact when Aizawa decided not to call their parents, but that didn’t mean it was any less embarrassing getting yelled at in front of All Might and the other heroes.
Forget it.
He has two hours of vacant time in his schedule courtesy for them to catch up on their ongoing practical research and the upcoming presentation for the convention, but with that done, he’s bare with any form of task. So with nothing to keep himself busy with, it unlocks some of Izuku's childishness being annoying. His nose poking in everyone’s business, rotating to every circle of friends in his class and drinking off every gossip spilling, and taking laps around the whole floor like a wandering puppy but eventually stops when he earns a scolded look from the class’s president— Nakamura, from how many times he's asked for the hall pass.
“Midoriya, wanna play a one-on-one match with me then?” Emiko taps him on his back, waving her phone with the game opened. He thinks about it but shrugs off the offer after a second. “Well, your loss, silly.” It’s not like he didn’t want to, but Emiko was a dirty player. Last time they played, Izuku went to his dorm clutching his sides because of how hard her jabs of distraction are.
Still feeling fidgety in his seat, he finally gives up and takes his phone out. Blowing out a curl off his forehead, fingers opening the Messenger app of his conversation with his boyfriend from muscle memory.

・・・・・ 💭 ・・・・・
Despite knowing Katsuki was teasing him to drag out a reaction, he falls to it with no shame. No matter how much Izuku loved him or how long they’ve been together, Katsuki brought out all of his sensitive side—that and him picking up some of his temper along their growing relationship. Some days Izuku is full of familiar scorching scowls and curses.
So he’s stomping a little and a pout present on his lips. Nakamura—bless his heart—who saw the whole ordeal just nodded along and even volunteered to cover for him in case something happened when he left.
Izuku gives him a passing squeeze in the cheek before walking outside with a hop on his steps, which doesn’t last long because he remembers Katsuki’s attitude towards him. This time he climbs the stairs to his floor with a deepening scowl and bitterness seeping off his steps. A trail of green.
As expected, his sweat glands are working themselves over; he has to thank the universe that he didn’t have Katsuki’s quirk. Izuku starts sweating the moment he’s outside of the door. He’s not as nervous as he thought he would be because of the familiarity, but it’s still enough for him to need a second before knocking. These are my friends. We’ve all seen each other in our worst states. I know them. I am an equal. Breathe, Izuku breathe. Kacchan’s right, just think about what he said. He knocks a few times and then slides the door open.
His eyes immediately trail over towards Katsuki’s figure in the back hunched over the table, a bandaged hand scrunching his golden spikes, seemingly pouting at his phone. Izuku softened a little, his sympathetic heart tearing at how cute his boyfriend looked.
“May I excuse Katsuki Bakugo?”
Iida—or Glasses, as Katsuki says—sprints to the front, greeting him with an exaggerated robot-like arm wave. Announcing his presence to the rest of the class, the attention makes him brush a hand over his nape out of embarrassment. Clutching another hand on the hem of his uniform.
"Iida-kun! H–How are you?"
“Hello, Midoriya! It’s nice meeting you again.” Izuku wishes a little for him to drop the formalities from how close they’ve been the past few months, but the boy insists out of politeness. “Now that I’ve seen you, yes, you may excuse Bakugou-kun.”
That cracks the jar apparently because everyone is cheering when Katsuki walks up to him lazily, the tender expression leaking from his eyes no matter the mask he’s trying to hold up. His blazer hooked around his shoulders. Izuku stifles a laugh when he notices the pants sagged down a little, a habit he never grew out of and has become a permanent fashion statement. Even with his obvious love and admiration for the boy, he can still admit this part of him is a little corny.
Ochaco’s the first one to jump him, her arms basically locking him in a hug, and that’s when he notices his feet aren’t planted in the ground anymore but instead floating in the air. He’s high enough to see Eijirou’s growing black roots. His air isn’t naturally red?
“I missed you so much, Deku-kun!” He holds into her biceps—that he notes is outrightly bulging this time—to stabilize both of them. A toothy grin to greet her back.
“Yeah,” Eijirou chirps, hardening his palms and gripping their feet, anchoring them back to the ground, knowing the girl wouldn’t let go any time. “We haven’t seen you around the dorms for weeks! Ya’ been busy, or does Bakugou lock you up somewhere?” He teases, faking concern.
“He locks me up.” He feeds into it, earning laughs from the circling group, which strokes his ego (While Katsuki’s possessiveness is known and something they can all laugh and joke about—Izuku’s way was a kind they needed to tiptoe around. So you can’t blame Eijirou and Tokoyami for sharing a knowing look.)
"—and Ochaco! I promise you, once I'm done with the convention this week, we’re going to that café you and Momo, Tsuyu-chan, keep talking about.”
“Really? Promise me that. We were just talking about it a while ago, so I'll text you the details."
Katsuki's patience shows itself thinly. "Alright, enough, Deku's mine, you sore losers."
Izuku waves a goodbye, passing little candies he kept in his pockets before getting dragged out by his boyfriend. Hands intertwined firmly that erupts a firework display in his stomach—really, Izuku?— It takes a few seconds for him to actually remember he was supposed to be mad, so he immediately retreats his hand back, a cute scowl growing on his expression, the scrunch on his nose being the star of the show.
Katsuki mirrors him but then perks up at the obvious sulking. “Well, some bunny’s mad.” He remarks mockingly, earning a slap on the chest, barely strength into it. “Y’not mad, are you? ‘Cause I was fucking joking awhile ago, alright? I do miss you, dork.”
Well, obviously Izuku knows that he’s just feeling a little needy and would love to play the stubborn head this time.
“Prove it.”
“Stop the fucking games, nerd. Early lunch?” When Izuku doesn’t reply, Katsuki rolls his eyes before peppering kisses to the crown of his head, trailing down to his eyebrows and nose, the mole on his cheek being clustered by his freckles, and finally sealing their lips, a languid kiss—I miss you—and pulling back to bite his chin. Izuku knows the telltale sign of him having a ‘cute aggression moment’ so he lets him be. When he lets go and sees an all-toothed smile that crinkles his eyes shut, he flicks a finger in the middle of his eyebrow—Ow!
“That does it for you, Deku?”
Izuku’s knees tremble a little, crimson flushed, but he cannot be the heir of All Might if he gives in so easily—
“Yeah.”
—Okay, look, in Izuku's defense; this was Katsuki. But just to protect a bit of his pride, he strides with speed just as he notices his boyfriend leaning for a rewarded kiss. He did it, see?
In the end, they did get an early lunch. Lunch Rush, who obviously favors Izuku out of everyone in the school, even gave out fresh, hot meals, with coffee, a milkshake, and extra snacking bars for their short walk around campus. They visited the library just to make fun of the old-year books collecting dust in the back. A lap around the field while they relaxed and basked in on the early morning glow by the bleachers. Izuku does eventually talk about the gossip he overheard, and Katsuki thrives on it—even fitting in some of his own pieces with something he learned from Mina.
“Kacchan, are you not going back to class?”
“Still got one more hour.” Pausing to wrinkle the protein bar wrapper in his hand and blasting it off— hey, it smells like plastic now. “Racoon Eyes texted saying our next class is cancelled. ‘S that defense shit again.”
Izuku’s metaphorical tail wagged excitedly, “One more hour? You swear, Kacchan?”
“Y’ever see me slack? Fuck you implying?”
“Nothing! It’s not like that—I'm just happy I get to spend more time with you. Neither of us have been around to do this, so it’s nice to finally catch up. I hate texting, you know?” And as pathetic he was over his boyfriend, he couldn’t even complain. They both knew what they were signing up for before even making their relationship official.
Izuku pouts, and that’s when Katsuki drags him down, so now they lay sideways on the bleachers. Izuku lets him be manhandled, loving the proximity, the hand on his shoulder soothing. He can smell the signature bitter from ash and sweet caramel scent better this way. Nosing the pulsing spot on his neck and stealing a lick over the tender skin, giggling when he feels the blonde shuddering.
“‘S my fault, sorry.”
This time Izuku bites back, lobes between his teeth. “It’s no one's fault, Kacchan. We're both busy with our internships. I say let’s enjoy the rest of the remaining hour, and when weekends arrive—let’s make it up with each other?”
The small reassurance melts a cube of doubt in his head. “Huh, alright. I found a spot just thirty minutes away from here during a stakeout. Let me take care of you. You in, love?”
Izuku plants a kiss on his lips. “Always.”
Turns out, Aizawa does have a soft spot for Izuku. Ignoring the well-known caramel scent trail of Katsuki’s ghost lingering when they passed each other in the hall. Since then there has been a small break in Izuku's routine where he calls him over to be a spectator during the hero course’s 1-A training whenever the schedules align well with the excuse of “improving his projects” with extra "visualization,” which isn’t a lie, but the class sees the usual grumpy man brightening seeing the couple interact.
