Summary
Most who know him would not use the word ‘lonely’ to describe someone like Hannibal Lecter. He has lived for thousands of years, seen the lifetimes of some and eternities of others. But, as is the problem with so many of his kind, there is a lingering boredom to living life in the ways of old –feared openly and revered by some. Hannibal has realized that the only ones who ever get to see the truth of him end up dead.
When one goes so long without being able to hold a mirror to their face and see a reflection, where does the self live? Does it disappear, or is it split into a piece you must find?
After millenniums, Hannibal has found his mirror. The one who absorbs and reflects everything he sees in himself and makes it the sublime – a sight to behold. But Will Graham is only a human. Hannibal must take care to keep the cracks in Will’s sanity at bay so he doesn’t shatter, but –-oh. How he would love to watch Will shatter.
Perhaps a broken mirror is best suited to someone like Hannibal Lecter.
