Work Text:
Skyfire glanced up from his journal, to see a scratched and scuffed Seeker stepping through his door. Starscream looked like he had gone several rounds with an angry voltcat, and lost all of them. “Did you have a nice night with your trinemates?”
“It was fine.” Starscream locked the door behind him as it slid closed and then crossed the room quickly. Then he climbed into Skyfire’s lap and draped himself dramatically across the larger mech’s chest. “Except that they are entirely too grabby, and take up too much space on the berth, and neither of them would know a good polish if it fell on their heads.”
“I see.” Skyfire reached up and rested a hand on Starscream’s back, and the smaller mech relaxed almost immediately. “I will help you fill your scratches later, and polish you up to your standards, if that helps.”
“It does, but not as much as this.” Starscream sighed softly. “You know I adore them, but I swear they are both all interface drive and absolutely no cuddling protocols.”
“I have noticed that Skywarp, at least, fits the stereotype, yes.” Skyfire rubbed a thumb between Star’s wings and the Seeker relaxed even further.
“And even if they had them, it wouldn’t be the same. They don’t know how to just…” Starscream paused and then lifted a hand and gestured toward Skyfire.
“Very true.” Skyfire continued rubbing between Strscream’s wings and turned his optics back to his journal. “Would you like me to read to you while you reset? Wheeljack has an interesting study in this issue.”
“Anything from Quark this solar cycle? I’ve been looking forward to his followup on quantum particle reactions after nova events.”
“Not in this journal, no. But I think he was publishing in that new one from the Iacon Academy.”
“I’ll look for it in the morning, then.” Starscream sighed and nuzzled his face against Skyfire’s chest plates. “I would like to listen to you read, yes. Please.”
“Of course, my Star.” Skyfire leaned forward and kissed the top of Starscream’s head. Then he began reading Wheeljack’s study aloud.
