Work Text:
March & Ryis were sitting on the floor of March’s room.
“You have so many trophies,” Ryis said, gesturing to them all.
“Yeah, because I’m talented,” March replied.
Ryis laughed. “What?” March asked, looking & sounding confused.
Ryis chuckled. “You sound kind of vain when you stay stuff like that.”
March frowned, looking angry. “What’s wrong with knowing I’m good at what I do?!”
“Nothing!” Ryis replied, raising his hands defensively. “I just don’t want you to come across the wrong way, that’s all.”
“But you don’t think I’m that vain, do you?” March demanded to know.
“Of course not. I know you better than anyone, March,” Ryis replied with a reassuring smile.
March nodded. Biting his lip, he admitted, “Well, as long as you see that, I don’t care what anyone else thinks of me.”
Ryis chuckled. “What’s so special about my opinion? What, is there something special about me?”
“Are you serious?!” March scoffed, incredulous. “Don’t tell me you don’t see it.”
“Pretend I don’t, and spell it out for me,” Ryis challenged.
March sighed. Folding his arms, he replied, turning away, “You’ve got a good head on your shoulders, and you’re almost as good at woodworking than I am at metalwork. I admire someone who can get up on my level, and who has a big heart, to boot.”
Ryis’s face softened, and a smile lit up his face, along with a blush. “Awww, you’re so cute when you’re giving compliments to people,” he teased his friend.
Now March was blushing. “S-Shut up!” March exclaimed, unable to look Ryis in the eye. “Geez, I try to give you a compliment, and this is the treatment I get?”
Ryis laughed. Then, he put a hand on March’s shoulder and said, “Seriously though, I appreciate that. Thanks, March.”
March’s face turned redder. He didn’t know what to say. Then he thought, fuck it, and leaned in for a kiss.
Ryis happily received him, and their lips came together in a moment of soft passion. When they parted, the two friends were smiling at each other.
“What was that for?” Ryis teased. “You like me that much, do you?”
March turned away. “. . . Yes,” he muttered.
Ryis put an arm around his friend. “Well, thanks. You’re sweet.”
March was at a loss for words, so he just put his head on Ryis's shoulder.
The two snuggled for the rest of their time together.
