Work Text:
Seungmin had always been the kind of person who felt deeply. Despite his outward strength, his charming looks, and his quiet confidence, there was a soft heart within him that few people ever saw. Raised by loving parents , Seungmin had grown up surrounded by music. He was a successful songwriter and his angelic voice was out of the world. Yet, he was prone to overthinking and self-doubt, especially when it came to his music. He often found himself lost in thought, searching for the right notes and words, struggling to capture the emotions that stirred within him.
Life had gifted him with a perfect counterbalance. Leena was raised by her father after the passing of her mother when she was just a baby, Leena was strong, independent, and resilient. Where Seungmin was soft and introspective, Leena was bold and decisive. She was the one who knew how to pick him up when he felt low, the one who could make him laugh even on his darkest days. Her strength wasn't just in her demeanor—it was in her unwavering support for Seungmin, always there to ground him when his mind wandered too far into doubt.
They balanced each other perfectly, like the yin and yang of their relationship. Seungmin’s softness complemented Leena’s strength, and Leena’s resilience provided the anchor that Seungmin sometimes needed.
Seungmin sat in his studio, staring at the blank sheet of paper in front of him. His fingers tapped restlessly against the wooden surface, his pen rolling back and forth as if it held the key to the elusive lyrics he sought. The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of a single lamp casting shadows on the walls. Outside, the sky was a dull gray, heavy with clouds that threatened to spill over at any moment. The sound of distant thunder rumbled through the air, a reminder that the monsoon season had settled in.
He sighed, leaning back in his chair, running a hand through his fluffy hair. Normally, this time of year would inspire him—there was something about the rain, the chill in the air, that usually sparked his creativity. But today, his mind felt completely blank. His parents were out of town, leaving him alone in the spacious house, and the silence was beginning to weigh on him. He was feeling lonely and down. Frustration crept as he was not getting ideas for his new song.
Seungmin was used to being alone—being a songwriter and singer meant he often spent hours by himself, lost in his thoughts. But today felt different. Today, the silence echoed louder, and the emptiness of the house seemed to creep into his mind, blocking any creative flow.
A soft knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts. He turned his head just as the door opened, and there she was, the apple of his eye, the angel of his life —Leena, his girlfriend. Her presence alone seemed to brighten the room, and he couldn’t help but smile, just seeing her being their for him despite the heaviness in his chest.
“Hey,” she greeted softly, stepping inside and closing the door behind her. She wore a blue floral printed dress, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. Her eyes, filled with concern, locked onto his. “I knew I’d find you here.”
Seungmin nodded, trying to muster a smile. “Yeah, just... trying to write.”
Leena crossed the room and stood by his side, glancing at the empty paper in front of him. “Doesn’t look like it’s going too well
He let out a frustrated sigh. “I don’t know, Leena. I just can’t think of anything. It’s like my brain is stuck.” She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, her touch warm and reassuring. “You’ve been working so hard, Seungmin. Maybe you just need a break.”
She moved closer to him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged her. It felt soft and full of comfort, he just wanted to stay like that forever. Caged in her arms, breathing her scent, and being close to her. She said lovingly, “It’s going to be all right bub. Let's make you some hot chocolate with your favourite marshmallows. It's going to relax your mind”.
Seungmin hesitated but eventually nodded. He couldn’t deny that the idea of a warm drink and Leena’s company sounded comforting. “Okay. That sounds nice.”
Leena smiled and they headed to the kitchen. Seungmin dragged a chair near the stove, to watch her make the drink. The distant sound of clinking cups and the hum of the stove filled the silence, easing some of the tension in his chest.
Just as Seungmin was not good in cooking, it was like a dream come true for him to find someone who can cook so well. Lina had great culinary skills. Even the glass of water served by her was delightful for him. She is beautiful, caring , knows how to cook, and loves him to the moon and back. Perfect wife material hah...
She was decorating the cup with marshmallows and that’s when she caught him staring. He blushed due to embarrassment.
“What?” She said with a grin. Her bunny smile on display.
“Just admiring you”. He said, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Now come to the couch”. She said, ears turning red. She went with 2 cups of hot chocolate and he followed her.
“Wow, it’s soo good. How do you make it so good? I can never. You’re the perfect wife material for me, Lina”. Seungmin said playfully
She leaned closer, pecked his lips and said. “First meet my father before marrying me my love”.
He flushed and blushed. Though it had been an year since they’re dating, but Seungmin never met her dad properly. He has too, it’s absolutely necessary.
As they sat in comfortable silence, the rain began to fall, softly at first, then gradually picking up speed. The sound of raindrops hitting the windows filled the room, creating a soothing rhythm that matched the warmth spreading through Seungmin’s body.
Leena’s gaze shifted to the sliding glass doors that led to the garden. She got up and walked over, peering outside. “It’s raining,” she mused, her voice excited. Seungmin followed her gaze, watching as the rain drenched the garden, turning the leaves a darker shade of green and creating tiny rivers along the pathways. “Yeah. It’s been like this all day.”
Leena turned back to him, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Come on,” she said, reaching for his hand. “Let’s go outside.”
Seungmin raised an eyebrow. “Outside? In this weather?” She laughed, a light sound that filled the room. “Yes, outside! It’ll be fun. You need to clear your head, and there’s nothing like a little rain to do that.” He hesitated. “But we’ll get soaked”. What if we get sick?”
“If I get sick, then you take care of me and if you get sick then i’m there for you”. She replied.
“What if we both get sick?” Seungmin asked.
“You speak so much, Come on”. She dragged him out. They both getting drenched within seconds. The excitement and happiness made him full. Especially when she was looking like a dream, getting wet in rain.
“Isn’t this amazing?” she called out over the sound of the rain. Seungmin couldn’t help but agree. There was something liberating about standing in the rain, the world around them blurred by the downpour. It was just the two of them, lost in their own little bubble.
As they moved closer to each other, the rain dripped from their hair and clothes, the coolness mixing with the warmth of their bodies. Suddenly, Seungmin, caught up in the moment, scooped Leena up into his arms, lifting her off the ground.
She gasped, surprised by the sudden movement. “Seungmin! What are you doing? Put me down! What if someone sees us?”
He chuckled, holding her securely. “No one’s here, Leena. It’s just us.”
Despite her protests, she giggled, enjoying the spontaneity of it all. After a few moments, she said, “Okay, okay, you win. Now put me down!”
He looked in her eyes full of love and gently placed her back on her feet. Despite her being a baby in front of him just 2 seconds ago, she said.
“Let’s play a game, Hide and seek. Close your eyes and count till ten meanwhile i’ll hide and then you have to search me”. She said excitedly.
He chuckled, thinking it was a bit silly but willing to indulge her. “Alright, but don’t blame me if I find you too quickly”.
Leena grinned. “We’ll see about that!”
She turned and dashed off into the garden, her laughter echoing through the rain. Seungmin closed his eyes and began to count, trying not to smile too widely. When he reached ten, he opened his eyes and began searching for her, deliberately taking his time. He could see her faint outline hiding behind a large bush, but he pretended not to notice.
“Leena?” he called out, feigning confusion. “Where could you be?” He heard a small giggle from her hiding spot, and he suppressed a grin. Slowly, he circled around the bush and, with a playful grin, snuck up behind her. Just as she peeked out to see where he was, he jumped out and wrapped his arms around her from behind.
“Gotcha!” he exclaimed, laughing as she let out a surprised yelp.
Leena turned around, playfully swatting his arm. “You cheated!”
He grinned, shrugging. “Hey, you didn’t say anything about not being sneaky.”
They both laughed, the sound blending with the rain as it continued to fall around them. Just then, a gust of wind rustled through the garden, and they found themselves standing beneath a tree filled with Sun Star flowers.
The wind caused some of the delicate flowers to fall, their bright orange petals stark against the muted tones of the rainy day.One flower landed near Leena’s feet, and she bent down to pick it up. She held it up to Seungmin, the rain droplets clinging to the petals, making them shimmer in the dim light”.
“This is a Sun Star,” she said softly, turning the flower in her hand. “Isn’t it beautiful? It looks like a star, especially with the rain on it.”
Seungmin stared at the flower, mesmerized by its beauty and by the way Leena’s eyes seemed to reflect the same light. The simplicity of the moment, the flower in her hand, the rain falling softly around them—it all struck him in a way he hadn’t expected. He felt a surge of inspiration, a deep sense of calm that had eluded him for so long.
He locked her hands into his large ones and pulled her closer. The rain had slowed down, the sky felt fresh and the air was romantic. He kissed her cheek softly, so softly enough to make heat well up in her belly.
“Lina”. He breathed out.
Before he could say anything, she was kissing him. There were butterflies, fireflies, dragonflies and all flies in her stomach. He pulled her even closer, smiling when she nibbled at his bottom lip. They pulled out, again to dive in another kiss.
“Now, let’s go”. She said, flushed red and swollen lips. Looking so beautiful that he can stare until he die. They went back, Lina wearing his clothes and looking super adorable by the time he went to the restroom.
“You are wearing my clothes”. He said, smile so wide and made him look cute.
“Is that a problem”? She asked.
“No baby, in fact you look so cute and pretty in them”. He said and ruffled her hair. She playfully glared.
“Okay then, sweetheart. I have to go. I have to take the kids to the vet”. She said and his smile dropped.
“Whyy? Come soon, I’ll call you”. He said, a sad pout on his face.
“Yup sure, if you need anything, Call me”. She said.
She kissed him on the cheek and on the lips. Seeing him sulking, she ended up giving a tight bear hug and full face of kisses until he was giggling due to the affection.
“Bye, take care my love”. She said and went to her car.
He watched her go, standing in the doorway until she disappeared around the corner. Then, with a deep breath, he turned and headed back to the studio. This time, when he sat down at his desk, the paper didn’t seem so intimidating. He picked up his pen, the words flowing easily now, as if they had been waiting all along.
He opened his drawer and there he had, the beautiful sunstar flower. He admired it and a smile plastered on his face as he had flashbacks.
And at the top of the page, in neat, confident letters, he wrote the title of his new song:
Stars and Raindrops.
